so i took it upon myself to swap my trans in my 95' 318i . . . unfortunately my 2nd and 3rd gear gave out so i bought a used one and i dont think i would be able to even attempt it without this video...i have searched and searched on youtube on how to diy but this video by far has been the best one i had came accross... only difference is mine is a automatic, so there where a few different steps i didnt need to do as well as different size bolts....nothing major,....you saved me lots of money and frustration on how to actually do it...your a life saver !

I honestly don't remember. I think used new ones from different clutch set.

We are sooooo lucky in the south as far as rusty cars go. Believe it or not, there are actually E36s around here with 0 rust.

let me ask you, I am looking to install a shifter kit on my Z3 (E36) instructions say to 'lower the transmission a little", well it is still connected to the engine, when you remove the transmission support bracket, does it drop at least an inch? which would give me enough space, or do I need to unbolt from the engine and or drop the engine as well. I suspect the engine mounts give a little but want to check with you since you did it.

You should be fine with just the transmission mount

You are my hero, seriously! I’m trying to swap my 1.8 for a 2.8 but I couldn’t figure out which bolts I was missing. You have the best step by step approach for e36 videos that I’ve seen on KZread. I can’t imagine how much time and effort it must have taken to record and edit the whole thing, thank you! From some of the reinforced bits it looks like you track or auto-x the m3, what events do you run?

If you are doing it by yourself, it give it like two or three days with breaks in between taking it easy

POR-15 will help with the rust.

Started mine earlier, snapped 5 of the 6 exhaust downpipe studs. How did you get yours out?

Gold Fish i had to torch them at my friends shop.... very annoying and I had to get used headers on ebay. Fairly cheap around 200-300dollara

the drive shaft vibration most likely would be from old center bearing.

Yes it's in neutral. I push up on driveshaft an it feels solid no movement. Car vibrate like crazy when I'm in gear.

+Mazda Rx7 FD 1993 hmmm have you taken off your drive shaft recently? Or swap out your differential bushings? I had a problem when I swapped out my differential bushing. The front bushings weren't aligned and the drive shaft vibrated violently

Diff bushing is original. Just started vibrations. I hear clunking sound when i reverse. But vibrating between 2-3k rpm the most on each gear. When I'm driving and press down on the clutch cruising on hwy the car stops vibrating. Then I'll go back in gear and car vibrate again. ... flex disc and center bearing looks good no cracks or play. I'm confused

Genesislights it has to be high enough for you to fit underneath. You dont have to pull the transmission out all the way. I have my floor jack that lifts up to 19inchs off the floor and and i added wooden blocks to lift up even higher. If you dont need to take out the transmission you dont have to lift higher than 20inches off the floor

Jacob T To give myself more room to work with I wanted to loosen the subframe to lower the transmission a bit. And just for safety reasons I got the engine support bar

Any idea what to do if it gets stuck on the input shaft 🗿 I got all the torx bolts out on the casing but it doesnt seem to budge past an inch or so

yea, you have to readjust the input shaft. seems like the teeth are not aligned which is why its not going in all the way. Did you not get the plastic teeth adjuster for it? It usually comes with the clutch.
