How to Remove a Wash Plate that is Stuck on a Washing Machine - LG Pulsator Wash Plate Removal

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Removing these washplates can be really, really hard. I had to remove 4 this week, and decided to film taking out the 5th one. This one went easier than others, but the same technique has worked every time for me but making the right part selection(s) to do it... Not so much.
Removing the washplate like this works for many brands that have the similar metal & plastic washplate. Samsung, LG, GE, Kenmore are just a few of the brands I've seen this be a problem for. I hope this helps you!
If you need to buy a replacement washplate for your washer, make sure to use Appliance Part Pro's model lookup system to get the EXACT OEM part you need, to ensure it works - plus, you can return it if it doesn't fix your issue: bit.ly/3pVxWyX

Thank you Ben, I just saw your video and immediately went into my shop and removed 3 wash plates that I couldn't get off. 2 were steel, 1 was plastic. I was worried the plastic one might break but if I couldn't get the plate off the machine would be junk anyway. Thanks to you, I have 3 more washers in stock! Simon, Australia.

I then pulled up and down several time fast using the bent probe in the center opening and it came out.

My machine is a LG WT-H8006 ONLY 7 year old (first LG was14yrs before I replaced it & better bag type filter system) Current machine started throwing a LE ? motor error. turned out more fluff and grey brown grit causing the blockage. I don't know where that grey grit is coming from. I managed to get machine going again filling with hot water, sitting and washing with soap powder. Bloody thing is working again, AFTER I bought a new machine. This machine wash plate is stuck on well, and I think I have more junk under the plate than yours. I got as far as removing that centre cap and screw but couldn't remove wash plate. After so many hot cycles there is still lots of fluff (maybe 7 yrs worth still coming out.) Filter system is shocking need original bag filters again. Love your video

I'm going to do a vid soon on secret chemicals you can use to remove obstructions under the wash plate - both for cleaning the washer, and getting rid of the garbage that could keep the wash plate on it. I bought a few different chemicals to see what works, and my hope is the video will help resove the issues. The gunk you dealt with is probably from the hot water ripping apart some of the scum underneath which held the motor on the LE error.

Unless its built dramatically different - no - I am unaware of any additional bolts that'd hold it down other than the main one in the middle. You may want to try the trampoline spring tools that I mentioned in the comment section. I bought a few after this video, and they seem to work really well too. The other thing you may want to look at is pouring very hot/boiling water on the washplate to possibly dissolve any buildup underneath the plate that'd keep it held on.

There is a better method use a flat strap from like one from a ratchet strap work the center of the strap under the wash plate and pull on both sides of the strap this method presents you from screwing into the wash plate

I actually tried that, and it still wouldn’t release. In fact to gain more leverage, I actually put a piece of wood across the top of the washer and pulled so hard I was afraid I was gonna bend the wash plate and half. That SOB is stuck like it was glued on.

Definitely. It's likely not only dirty under the wash plate, but inside it between the two pieces. Check this video out that shows the scum inside the wash plate assembly... kzread.info/dash/bejne/f5qopKuxYcm0iaQ.html I haven't come across a tutorial for separating those two pieces yet...

Hopefully the screws will never be forgotten to be removed. Lol I'd use a disinfectant as well or a cleaner that disinfectant as well as cleans. The manufacturer should design it with a hole to utilize a common tool for removal.😊

Just don’t understand why didn’t lag use a fully/completely stainless steel repeller instead … I just got a new LG “fully stainless steel tub” model washer and honestly I was a bit disappointed as after how much I paid I didn’t get what I was expected to have.

WD40 works so much faster and less steps. Just spray and let it set (I let it set over night). Obviously our machines aren't this clean and have lots of gunk holding the wash plate like glue. Then you won't have to use screws, it'll come right off!

I'm going to put out a "2.0" version of this video at some point, as this doesn't always equal a sure-shot for every style of washer. Another REALLY GOOD ONE is to pour VERY HOT water in the tub with the rotor bolt OFF so all the hot water gets in, underneath. Run an agitation cycle through it, and it will help break off the junk and free the plate.
