How to Remix Any Song in Ableton Easily
-
In this video I remixed the song Heatwaves by Glass Animals in Ableton Live 11. All credit goes to Glass Animals for the original song which I had no part in the creation of.
I love remixing because I can have my vision for any song come to life. It can be intimidating at first but I think I have broken down the elements of a remix in a simple and easy to understand way.
-Acapella
-Chord Structure
-Sound Design
-Mixing and Mastering
Following the steps in this video should help improve your remixing game whether this is your first remix or your 100th.

Great video. So I find so many people make these videos and the finished product is an 8 bar loop. That’s not a song - we’re all learning to make 8 bar loops but how do you remix a whole song - you need a part B, a breakdown or whatever - I would really love to see more videos that focus on that next part.

That is a really great point. I agree that the whole 8 bar thing is a problem and I don’t want to contribute to people getting stuck in it. In the future I want to make more complete and comprehensive content. Thank you for the support and feedback.

For free drums check out the free packs that cymatics has. For paid drums I would check out Splice. You can build an amazing collection of sounds really quick with Splice.

Thanks! Now that AI is super big you can actually use some AI websites to make acapellas for free. I like a website called vocal remover because it’s free.

Thanks for watching! You can use the bottom note in the chord to make it simple most times but I also encourage you to experiment beyond that.

idk what happened to my abelton but everytime I drag in acapellas or samples, they're never in time with the metronome. even when i manually change the warp markers i just cant ever get them in time

  • @kylechumchal

It’s not always accurate. I have auto warp turned off in my preferences so I can do it manually. I made this short showing the easiest way to do it manually kzread.infoTA5U_eIM9cA?feature=share

Hi i had a question. Do we need to lower the original music and make beat over it or make beats over the original track??

  • @kylechumchal

    @kylechumchal

I download acapellas so I can get the vocals isolated and then I build the beat around just the vocals

Acapella had an Auto Pan set to do the volume movement instead of pan, Pro Q3, and a stock Ableton reverb. The octave up acapella channel has the same plugins except I added an OTT to really bring it forward.

Tbh this doesn't sound that good. You made an 8 bar loop and the synths were too bright and not as creative as should have been. Do a complete tutorial next time with better sound design.
