You can recall what you read if you decide it matters enough to know and remember. Find the motivation to absorb information and improve retention.
Step 1: Skim info
Skim information slowly at first to remember what you read. Never use this as a primary means of absorbing information, but always as a preparation for gathering key points.
Tip
Machines that train the eyes to scan and select meaning and context rather than picking out the smaller letter arrangements help speed reading and deepen concentration.
Step 2: Read word groups
Read word groups rather than single words by developing the habit of snapping the eyes across or down the page.
Step 3: Categorize and associate
Categorize and associate information you read with other knowledge in your life, to establish familiar cues for retrieving facts.
Step 4: Take notes
Take succinct notes on significant facts and information when reading books or studying for exams. Say the words aloud to hear yourself and help commit it to memory. Repeat the process.
Step 5: Study with purpose
Study with purpose and confidence, interacting with the material. Compare and contrast what is being memorized and paraphrase for simplified understanding. Grill yourself with questions to reinforce the lesson.
Tip
Avoid lazily highlighting everything. Highlight key passages, words, or phrases.
Step 6: Visualize to recall
Visualize faces with names that have to be remembered. Link important dates in your assignment mentally by picturing significant calendar events, birthdays, or holidays near the newly learned dates.
Step 7: Keep single focus
Concentrate with purpose on one thing at a time -- a paragraph, a sentence, or a word. Disallow any distractions, focusing on the meaning, and test to make sure you have it before moving on.
Step 8: Pick the time of day
Pay attention to the times of day when you're most alert and schedule your study time accordingly. Work in short bursts at first to expand attention and grasp.
Did You Know?
More than 300,000 iPads were sold on the first day they hit the market.

+onyi anyanwu They're showing you what works for remembering things. Study a subject thoroughly and then shock yourself with a fact from a completely unrelated subject. That way, you'll remember how surprised you were. It's deep level learning because it's based off of your experience.
The background music drowns out the narrator's voice. Highly distracting and downright irritating ! Please tone down that nonsense. Thanks.

Thanks for proclaiming the conclusions that someone will eventually come to on their own.
Very true. That's why I always sign up for study groups and try to answer questions and explain topics as often as possible. Very, very helpful. You can also try writing an explanation of what you learned/are try to learn - though this method I find not to be quite as fun.
Thank you, these are very helpful tools.
Excellent indication how to learn and improve your English. Keep your great work up!
develop interest in the subject and know the significance why you're reading it.. if it doesn't make sense then don't read it at all
thank u very much really provided a good snap of information!!
Take notes as well! I always had to do that. The hearing part and the memory association works sometimes. You can't always highlight things.
Great tips! Thank you.
lol the Ipad thing in the end helped me a lot
I make an effort to care for the subject matter I m reading but i just can't.
its very nice and it is really easy to remember this thank u for this video 🙌

My mind will actually remember your comment while remembering how to remember what I read
The music give me encouragement. And thank you ♡ its work! :D
Me too. Take note of the first 2 tips in particular, and also the one on note taking. When you force yourself to take notes, then your forcing yourself to concentrate. Then read your notes and see if they make sense, then you'll know if you were concentrating properly :)
I too forget my friends names sometimes and at that time I used to call them by their color of t-shirts .... So its also impossible to remember chapters but this is priyanshu made for change impossible task into possible . so I will try my best.
How can I concentrate what you are saying when your background music is ON?
i lost it at “you will need”
@ForgottenNetwork well ipads can be used for reading. does that explain it?
Thanks for posting. My class found this video helpful.

when I read a book I can't remember what I was reading a minute ago.. :/ - is there any technique to overcome this? maybe my brain is full? I mean if I watched a lot of youtube videos for the last few years, can it be that there is simply no place for more data? is there a way to make more space in brain?
Thanks for helping

this music is so motivational, it makes me want to read. or maybe watch more howcast videos
the only thing I learned here was that 300,000 ipads were sold on the first day in the market.
Thanx it makes me comfortable to study now
we try to study but we r not able to make our mood to study
What did the ipad information had to do with anything?
They've already explained it in this video. One thing you want to do is look for the main point of a paragraph. What is the author trying to say in that passage. Then, you want to look for supporting and key ideas in that passage which ties to the main point. Look at the main point like a huge fishing net, and all the supporting and key ideas as fish. They all tie together.
