    For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. kzread.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

    This video was very helpful. I am having a problem getting the string to advance on its own. P prior to your video. I was taking the whole top off and pulling a little string out, putting it back on and weed eat and then repeat you showed me that button which is great, but what am I doing wrong that it won’t advance on its own. Thank you.

  • @FixEverythingYourself

    Could be a few possibilities: 1) Make sure you have the right size string. It takes 0.065" diameter ROUND string. Any other size or shape string will cause problems. 2) You could be winding it too tightly when you put the string on the spool. When wrapping the string onto the spool, don't wrap it super tightly around the spool and try to distribute the line evenly across the spool as you wind it. This will keep some string from getting "trapped" by other string as the layers of string pile up. 3) It seems unlikely but perhaps there's some damage to the black spool that the string winds around? You can buy new spools at Walmart and they come pre-strung. Those should be reusable, too, so you could buy one (or a 6-pack) and your problem will likely be solved. But pay attention to items #1 and #2 above when you go to re-string those.

    I have this trimmer and have a problem with it catching long grass, vines, and plant stems under the string head. So far I have to use a skewer and my fingers to slowly work out what is stuck there. Is there a way to remove the head to access that area that you know of?

  • @FixEverythingYourself

    @FixEverythingYourself

    Жыл бұрын

    Probably the easiest way is to remove the 3 screws that are holding the black guard in place, then remove the guard. That would give you unobstructed access to the area of the head your talking about. I've experienced that with other weedeaters.

    Am I able to use any string thickness and shape with this trimmer or am I limited to just .065" round?

  • @FixEverythingYourself

    @FixEverythingYourself

    Жыл бұрын

    The max thickness is the 0.065. Smaller diameter is okay if you can find it. Different types of 0.065" are okay. In fact, I recommend using something other than round because that often gets stuck in the spool.

    When running this, do you have to push button to have more string out from time to time or does it automatically do it from time to time as trimming the yard?

  • @FixEverythingYourself

    @FixEverythingYourself

    2 жыл бұрын

    No, the string will extend a little at a time only after stopping it and restarting (or slowing it down a bit than speeding it back up). So if you see the string is too short, let the trimmer come to a stop, then pull the trigger to restart it. It extends a little bit each time.

Arthritis has rendered my thumbs less than helpful, so I am guessing a couple of screw drivers (one to press the button and one to slightly lift the cap while I do the same thing on the other side) will enable me to get some work done without having to wait for someone else to take off the cap for me. Make sure you're using ROUND string, nothing with any texture or twist in it. Also needs to be 0.065" diameter. The use of non-round string is typically the cause of this. Lastly, string is supposed to extend every time the trigger is pulled, not by bumping the head on the ground if you weren't aware of that.
