I bought my first one at Home Depot or Lowe's years ago, maybe 15. I asked the repair shop about them and they suggested not getting one, a couple of years later they were selling them too. Saved the adapter kit and have used this head on Stihl, Echo, Tanaka, and others. The machine wears out but the head hasn't. Probably the best aftermarket product I have ever purchased. Thank you.

That's me - all the commercial grade string trimmers have had line heads like this for years, it's only the low end domestic trimmers that have the crappy ones you need to take apart. The real innovation of the last few years is the auto wind heads on some electric commercial trimmers. You just push the line through the holes until equal amount on both ends, press the button, and the machine winds it all in for you. This is great for commerical use, because while manual wind heads work well at first... after a year or two of heavy use, all the plant gunk makes them hard to turn. Spraying them with resin solvent helps though.

Scott Chapman sounds like an ol' dog that refuse to learn a new trick. Speed feed heads are the bomb, they are professional & quick to load without issue. Mine auto feeds amazingly and rarely requires a bump for more line. Angels sing to the lawn God's - may the clouds part for all exception to Scott C.

I pre-cut several lenghts of string to the correct size, roll up the strings individually & secure them with twisty ties, keep them in my truck door, every time I start my day of lawn cutting I grab one, put it in my pocket as an extra bc you know you'll be the farthest away from your truck when the head runs out of string!! I pull out the extra string from my pocket, reload & go!! Thx for making this video. You did an Awesome job on your edging!

I got the DeWalt version of this and absolutely love it!!! When tapped to feed the line it feed just a few inches a tap and no water line to cut off from over feeding. 3 taps is a full feed. I’ve never had to have it cut off any line yet. Well worth the cost and very fast to load 30’ of line.

Just came across your video. I replaced the head on one of my string trimmers with this type head a while ago. Love it! My other one came with a similar head from the factory. Now for the real reason I’m commenting. Operating a string trimmer wearing shorts and sandals isn’t the best idea. I’ve seen several injuries from these units that would have been avoided if the operator had been wearing jeans and shoes. Yeah, it’s uncomfortable in the warm weather! But not nearly as uncomfortable as losing a toe or two or a nasty gouge in your leg. BE SAFE!
