It would have been interesting to know your daily routine. Do you catch up with each deck? I assume there are decks for each course/subject? etc.

Some useful shortcuts: Making subdecks w/o having to drag (incase you use the web version, or app) - If the parent deck in this case is "Neurobiology" and your subdeck name is "Week 1", you should make the "Neurobiology" deck first, then for the subdeck "Week 1::Neurobiology". Using the double colon, "::" is used throughout Anki. For example in cloze deletion you can use the double colon after your hidden answer to provide a hint. So in the case of "What is the powerhouse of the cell? {{c1::mitochondria::organelle}}". When you see the card, it'll appear as "What is the powerhouse of the cell? [organelle]" other keyboard shortcuts include ctrl+enter to submit a card when you're done making a card, ctrl+shift+c to add a cloze blank (substitute "command" for mac's), when in review mode: spacebar to flip/reveal card, hit 1(hard), 2(good), 3(easy) to rate a difficulty (I believe spacebar auto-defaults to 2 as well, when you have to rate it)

I had NO idea you can drag cards. I have dozens of subdecks within subdecks within subdecks and had to spend forever manually adding/removing double colons. I wish I knew this earlier, it would've saved a lot of time and headache!
Prerak your videos are so helpful! From your honest perspective on what medical school is like to amazing study tips, I appreciate you taking the time to make these videos!
New to Anki but am already feeling that there is an incredible degree of progress this short video has availed to me. Thank you for your contributions Prerak.
Super helpful! Many of the videos in KZread that recommends anki as a high yield learning tool but they dont touch on the process behind organizing and creating of useful decks. Thank you for this video🙏
You’re the only person I know that actually shows how to make a good science card that someone would use, not just a simple example. Thank you 🙏🏼
Honestly the most helpful tutorial Iv'e found thus far. Wish I had learned about this program when I was a freshman and not my 5th year of college!
You are the first person to clarify and actually taught me how to use Anki. Thank you so much my friend 🙏🏽
This was actually the most useful video on anki for med students I’ve ever watched!
That was my first introduction to Anki. I'm using it for something different, but your presentation was super-clear.Thank you.
Thanks for such a good straightforward video. I love using Anki, but hated making cards because I didn't do that well. this helps so much!!
Thank you so much, this is the first video I watched for Anki and I was feeling so overwhelmed with it. I feel better now thank you!!
this video is amazing, I was doing my notes on ANKI exactly how you said NOT TO and I was finding it wasn't being effective so stopped and deleted all my work. As a first year dental student in the UK I have been looking for how to make more notes effective and you describe it really well in both your videos, THANK YOU :)
This was THE REAL guide!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR MAKING IT MUCH EASIER !
This was awesome! I'm studying for the MCAT and I'm excited to put these new tricks to good us!
I'd been struggling to learn Anki but this cleared it up for me perfectly! Thank you so much!
Found this video at the PERFECT TIME. Thank you!
Thank you Prerak. This was a super helpful video to me. I never liked Anki before because didn't know how to properly use it. Now I love using it daily. You did a wonderful job explaining the most important features of Anki.
Thanks a lot Prerak, I just start using anki, and this is a really useful tips.
Thank you for a clean, brief explanation without endless chat and lame jokes. I wish everyone on youtube would take a lesson from you.
Awesome video series, man! Keep up the great work!
CTRL SHIFT 4 will make a screenshot but it saves to your desktop, that gets annoying after 100 cards. CTRL SHIFT CMD 4 will just copy it to the clipboard so you can paste it into Anki and not have annoying files cluttering your desktop :)

control shift 4, then before you drag and take a screenshot click control then while holding down control take the screenshot. Then you can paste it directly and it won't save on your desktop. This is for macs, not sure about pc.
I'm not kidding when I say this. This is a GOLDMINE of a channel. thank you. Studying for Human Physiology has made me stop studying completely because I fucked up the way I made flashcards (i.e. I copied long PARAGRAPHS in ONE card, and I did that for a lot of them.) You, sir, have revolutionized my learning capabilities and I thank you. This is superb and makes me want to study again. Keep making these videos!!
Wow. This ANKI flashcard tool is great! I have an idea on how to use it for nursing school and studying for the NCLEX-RN exam after completing my registered nursing program. Thanks so much for posting this video!
Thank you for this! Im in school for Respiratory therapy but man I cant imagine med school students. Big props to you guys
This is really useful! Thanks for an excellent introduction Anki.
Just wanna say you are ana angel! ❤️ i have watched 3 anki videos for beginners and still couldn’t create shit because I didn’t know how but i watched yours for 2mins and boom!
I loooooooved this thank you for taking the time to explain, its helped me so much as a new Anki

Man, what a great and concise explanation this is!!!
I just wanna say that in the book make it stick, the researchers say that cloze deletions, or blank words, create enough of an artificial difficulty that it aids in memory retention. Kinda like reading a certain passage that is kind of blurry. It aids in retention of the information.
Thank you so much this was so helpful, last year i use this video and I was looking for it just now because i remembered it

no one did ever explain anything like this it was simple and clear thank u bro
thankyou sooo much for this video ..... downloaded the app on my laptop and gonna try and reach ur level of organised flashcard series down the line !!!
It is sooo useful for a beginner. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks a lot Prerak, ur old mistakes r my current ones now, so now imma go fix it
Please tell us more about Anxi. I am computer illiterate, so your lesson today taught me a lot!
Been following your journey for a long time now. Recently scored in the 90th+ percentile on my MCAT and am feeling really good about my chances at medical school and getting in. Hopefully in 2 years, I'll be in your shoes as a medical student preparing for STEP and working hard in my classes :)

That's awesome congrats! I'm currently studying for the MCAT. You got any tips for using ANKI with it?
Thanks for this. I'm going to use this technique for my CCNA certification.
Thanks for all your tips!
"Cloze" cards are no longer showing the "extra" or display images when added. In order to solve this please follow these steps: in an empty cloze card, add a new field and name it "extra" close the card and go to the main anki window and go to "tools" select "manage note types " select "cloze " select "choose cards " at the bottom center choose "add field" change field from "text to extra" change "add to": from "front to back" Press ok and try and see if works

@@brandoarmas2659 Make sure you're on the Anki main file, and it says Cards on the right side like so, "Cards..." you should also see "Add" "Rename" "Delete" etc
this helped me so much as a beginner. thank you
Intro was so great!!👍
Amazing tips! Thank you so much!
You sir are the best tutorial on youtube and i salute you for that
Dude thank you. You are a lifesaver
Really helped my a lot! Great video.
Great information. Thank you for sharing.
seriously, thank you for this!
Want to give this video a thousand for actually explaining how to use Anki to someone who never heard of it. Other "tutorials" explain it like the viewer is already familiar with Anki.
Your explanation is very good. Thanks.
TY, I am reviewing laboratory medicine and this helps A LOT!!!!
Hey another tip! If you don’t want to have a lot of screenshots on your desktop, you can press Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+4 and it just copies it on the clipboard 😊
Thank you! I like your explanations, I am sure you will become a nice doctor :)
Great video bro! Keep hamasah💪
Pro tip: use command + shift + control + 4 and it will copy it to your clipboard so all you have to do is paste it in. This cuts down on the screenshots on desktop
Thanks for simplifying this
You're awesome. Thank you so much
Thank you very much - this was very useful.
This was a great tutorial!
By the bye. Sorry if i'm being too obvious here, but what I use is "snipping tool" which is already in your windows computers instead of print sceen. With it you can frame excactly what you want, and then just copy/paste it directly into anki. Also, thanks for the info doc. Great video!
Super video, thx man
I think this is going to help since I'm doing civil service examination. And we basically have to know a lot of dates, numbers, etc. and where they fit in. What do you think? It's the understanding, but we have to remember all of it.
@Prerak. Thanks a lot ! I plan to prepare for the MRCP’s next year. It’s also an MCQ format , and I believe ANKI would go a long way , in helping me prepare for that. On an average how long does it take to make flash cards on anki .Thank you !
you deserve all the best my friend, thanks a lot you made it so easy so i was able to see how it works but i still have one problem is that the extra field doesn't show i've downloaded a the new a old version but still have the same issue please if you have an idea to fix that help me out
very well explain. thankyou very much sir.
Thanks for all the information, Cheers from Perú.
Hiii. Your videos are great. Can you please go through your recommended/TOP RATED Anki decks for USMLE prep. I Know you recommend Zanki and Pepper Micro and Pharm.
What's the point of using cloze if you can just paste a screenshot on the back of the card along with the answer?
Hello. Thank you for the content. I just wanted to confirm whether you do reviews for all of your decks everyday (ie. Do you use anki's algorithm or does the volume of new and review cards you have each day make it so that you only get through one or a handful of subjects per day?) I have started using anki with good results but am falling behind on reviews bc i tend to devote more time to the classes that I am soon to be tested on.
thank you, great tipps.
Indeed a great vedio
Thanks for your help! GOD Bless!
Hey great video! Just a question - How do you get this process tracker addon that you have in your anki?
Do you follow a study schedule for your Anki cards? like, Monday I will cover all cardio cards, Tuesday all renal cards..etc. would be cool if you would make a video on how to how to cover each card in your deck and how to review old cards. I mostly see videos on how to make a deck or make additions to cards.
Dude! i wanted to see the answer what the cocaine effects are! thank you for your video :) very helpful
Excellent!
How do u get time in med school to make the flashcards and then go thru them? Like don't you use up alot of time just making the flashcards?
What do you do, if you can't take the laptop with you to the lecture? (Like having lab etc) By the way, the "cut" screenshot Prerak did is Ctrl+Shift+S ;)
Thank you for your hard work Love from Pakistan
thank you sir!
What about for essay based subjects? Surely sentense memorisation is good right?
hello, prerak in this video you mention not to use cloze deletions without a question answer format, however the zanki cards were presented in such a way and not in a question answer format.
Nice video :) But you forgot to mention about those green blocks on your orginal Anki :O
Thanks a lot 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Can you post a list of the add ons you use since you have a bunch?
