How to Read TPMS Trouble Codes and Display Tire Pressures: Motorvate's DIY Garage Ep.32

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

On this episode of Motorvate's Do It Yourself Garage we are going to show you how to find out why the TPMS light is flashing, by scanning the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for trouble codes.
Well, actually we scan the body control module (BCM) since the TPMS system is directly wired to it AND display the all 4 tire pressures, in real time.
For some reason the G35, G37, 350z and 370z (and maybe others) don’t display the tire pressures.
With an inexpensive OBD scanner, OBD Fusion app with the $15 Enhanced diagnostics add-on you can find out why the TPMS light is flashing and see the tire pressures in real time. Nice!
If you haven't already set up OBD Fusion for Nissan/Infiniti Enhanced Diagnostics, please pop over to my other channel:

Sure, but my content is mostly focused on what I have: Infiniti G37, so that limits my audience. Only 330,000 G37s were sold in US and Canada, and out of that only a very low percentage of people work on their own car. The next few episodes will feature the G37, but the content will be applicable to all vehicles. :)

    5 жыл бұрын

Hey Ajitpal Singh, It took me a moment to understand what you meant by "kmpl" but I got it: KM/liter, but I think you mean liters/100 KM. :) Anyways I base my oil changes intervals on a used oil analysis. Here is the first one: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6p52tufqN3ZgtI.html and the second one: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYlst6-lfd3PY5M.html I change my oil every 12,000 KM and use a Nissan oil filter. I always use synthetic 5W30 and buy it from Canadian Tire when it is on sale. As for suggestion for better fuel economy just your tire pressure and set them to the pressure shown on the sticker inside the driver's door jam, try to avoid traffic ( I know... you probably can't) and use 91 pump octane. The G37 is not very good on gas, and if you do a lot of short trips it is worse.

  • @MotorvateDIY

I know it does for my 2011 and I would expect it to also work on your 2010. The one problem you may see is when getting tire pressures, you can't connect to other OBD Fusion defined "networks". When you have the enhanced add-on, when you connect to your car, you need to pick a "network". If you want to read data from 2 modules that are in different networks, it doesn't work. So, if you just want tire pressure, you should be good.

Hey Donald Trump Ice Cream, I think so.... after you clean the throttle bodies, there are 3 procedures that need to be done: release accelerator position learning, closed throttle position learning and (the most important and difficult) the idle air volume learning. Hey Павел Копров, I have checking the 08 wiring diagram to verify the BCM module is on the same network (CAN bus) as the ECM and it is. Digging a little deeper, it looks like the G37 uses an updated system for tire pressure monitoring. The G35 has a "TIRE PRESSURE WARNING CHECK SWITCH" as shown in the factory manual, section WT (Road Wheel & Tire) page 8. The G37 does not. My only guess is that OBD Fusion might now support the G35's TPMS PIDs. You could try asking OBDFusion if there is anyway to get this to work: obdsoftware.force.com/s/ Good luck!

It's a 2011 g37s coupe and I recently put 275/35/r19 on the Rears so should u do the hack where u use a paper clip on the white wire by the OBD sensor and ground it out 6 times and all 4 tires must be different psi's then drive it around.
