At home TPMS removal WITHOUT special equipment breaking a tire bead
Here's how you can remove your TPMS units at home. If you go in to a tire shop they might charge up to $20 a wheel to pull them and refill them with air. Here you can see what it takes to do it at home. I used an inexpensive tool for pulling a new valve stem into place. See below for a link to purchase one for yourself.

Master Tech here!!!! I just gotta say this is genius !!!! New techs nowadays don’t do this anymore. Love it!!
I wasn't even interested in this topic but I saw the backyard engineering and had to see if this worked. Nice Job!
wow, I just did it. I've never broken down a tire so easy. I sprayed the bead down with soap water and used the 2x4 and 2x6 just like you did. Thanks!! saved me lots of work.

How did u unscrew sensor from the top and pull it from back most people unscrew a nut in the back of sensor to separate from valve stem and pull it up from front
Proper oldy time Can-Do in action. Well thought out and executed, mate. Thanks !
This is the safest and fastest way to do it at home, better than the jack method. Changed my sensors quickly. Thanks
That was pretty slick! You have a lot of faith in the strength of your siding lol
Thank you for sharing! No nonsense instructions and demonstration. Subscribed! A fellow Gx470 owner and DIYer.
I follow up your instructions and it was so easy to replace the bad TPMS Thank you so much
Dude, you made that seem so easy. Thanks for the video, gave me more confidence to try on my own
What an awesome video very very informative, your to cool dude thank you very much I've been breaking tires down the old hard way like my grandfather did using a bumper jack, today there's no bumper Jack's for plastic bumpers right thanks again

I legit want to try this. I got some extra rims and tires, may have to try it one nice day. Looks fun.
you were killing me with your other hand so close to the bead when you were filling it back up with air. lol Please make sure you keep your hands clear of that area when setting the bead!
Thank you for putting this video together, really useful!
Appreciate the video, can’t wait to do this on my car! 👍
Now that was done with confidence. You made it look easy. Thanks for making this routine available to us.

I put the tire down underneath the back of my trailer hitch on my truck and use a scissor jack between the tire and my trailer hitch to get the tire off the bead...
WOW. Thank you for your time for show all the steps. Perfect
Did this today and it all worked out. Reset the bead and added air using the $39 Harbor Freight Pittsburg Portable Air Inflator for those that don’t have a compressor. Many, many thanks!

in olden days the tires were narrow and the side walls were wider, 85, 75. Nowadays with small numbers, 55, 60, it is more tricky.
That looks easiest enough to do.... Not sure why but on my 2008 Kia Rondo my 'TPMS' light has been acting up even though the tire pressure is fine. Looks like I might need to replace these monitors.. Thanks for the video..
Wow , great video thanks
if there is no tpms sensor on the tire will a tire stem like this rotate around when trying to twist the cap off? I know i have a tpms sensor issue and only 1 of my tires stems will twist around in circles and Im wondering if that is why, there is no leaking or anything; Im just curious bc I bought the car used and I use an alternate way or monitoring the pressure in the tires from something I bought off amazon but if its only 1 that needs to be replace I would rather do that lol
will the light for the sending unit come on after putting the reg. valve cor on the tires???? and can the sending unit be turned off.....
@SORENEAGLE What size Valve stem was the new one that you put in?? I'm trying to swap out TPMS for traditional valve stem on my 2022 RAV4 and I'm trying to figure out the size needed. Thanks in advance!!
Well done 👍,,,
If its a programmable TPMS you now have the valve in, how are you going to programme it?
Thank you.
Impressive!
Great video assuming your sensor is mounted on a steel stem with a nut that can be easily removed...the rubber stem mounted sensors are slightly more difficult and annoying and can't be reused from what I understand requiring a $10+ rebuild kit per wheel.
I have e39 bmw, can I install TPMS on it? It will working and show msg on screen?
Hey I took my car for new set of tires at the shop. After tire pressure light came on. Tried to reset it by holding button and hear two horn sound. After that still no numbers on the four wheel graphic. Did the shop took out the sensor?
Do you have to rebalance the tire if you do it this way?
Great Great Great video. Tks
What about the sensor part at the end of the stem? Do I need to buy a new one with the stem or use the same piece??
Nice! Tankx alot...
So will it turn the light off
Well done...
Doing this way, does that tire need to be balanced again?
no way it can be that easy my tire shop said i had to go buy new ones and each one was like 80$ and if they tried to remove them they would break 100% of the time i just saw you remove it with such ease im so mad

Did you put in a non-TPMS valve stem? If so, won't the computer sense this and the low air pressure warning light always be on? Doesn't that TPMS have to be in there if it was in from the factory?
is there anything special to inflate tire. can i just go to any gas station and fill up with air to reseal the bead?
I talke to the guy at Walmart, said he'd beak the bead for free for me. can't beat that.

If I’m getting the tps service light, and one tire is getting a blank reading on the dash would this be the easiest fix or does the system need to be recalibrated? This looks easiest I just don’t want to swap it out and still be getting this stupid ass notification all the time
Get errr done 🇺🇸 Good job 👍 😊
If your just going to put a regular valve stem back in why not just leave the old stem sensor in or install new sensors for about 40 bucks for all 4?

but how doyou reprogram new tpms if batteries are bad?
wouldn't removing the TPMS sensor cause the tire light to go on, on the dash board?

I want to see how to get the damn light off video,. No one, no where is there a video of that,. It's frkn blinking,. Any suggestions?
Question? You unscrewed the first one how was the replacement different?
@92Pony

Pretty sure the replacement was just a plain valve stem. He was removing the TPMS sensor altogether.
so you didn't put in a new TPMS... just a valve stem?
All tires and rims are not the same. I just broke beads and there is no way this would have worked on my tires. 265/70R15. I used a scissor jack under a truck frame and it was difficult.
I guess it's hard to do this with low profile tire...
Local tire shop wants $65 just for one tpms sensor that I can buy on amazon for under $15. I hate being hosed.

Did I miss you putting the nut on the new valve stem?
@asimpson164

It looked like a rubber "pull into place" type. Sorry if you figured that out already in the last five months.
Now if there was a way to disable the tire pressure warning light on the dash, this would be perfect
5 ft/lb to tighten the nut, is it the same for all TPMS the 5 ft/lb? And if you don't have tq wrench, this guy said tighten the nut to snug then turn it 1/2 more turn, is that right.
@jessejames96

5lbs too much...most are less than 40 in/lbs
I don't get the concept here. Was the TPMS leaking? If not then why not leave it alone if you're just going to replace the TPSM with a ordinary valve stem. The light on your dash wont go out and if your state has inspections it won't pass.

Tire Ninja!
the soap and water made a magic. it broke the seal easily. i used my towing bar of the car for support. i tied the 4x4 beam with a rope, and this way the 4x4 was always tight against the pivoting point. i dropped my old sensor inside. extraction: using a short piece of a garden hose attached to a strong shop vacuum cleaner. how do you inflate it, if the rubber tire does not touch the metal rim. all the air goes out easily. yes i know the trick with the starter fluid and i am not going there.
great
But how do you determine which sensor is bad?
@thebronzetoo

When system doesn't show a number or the number reads way off, your sensor is bad.
only works if you have a fat tire, you need a nice tool for hard low profile tires
