I’ve literally seen ppl do that in plat and diamond lobbies.. unfortunately ok, nvm not like that. Commented that before I saw what he did lol. But he was clearly messing with that. I’ve never seen anyone do that in plat or diamonds

I don't think the issue is whether you're using too many or too few mechanics (there is a wide range of abilities at any rank), but more so the fact that your movement is so clean and quick without any mistakes. If you really want to get to SSL without mechanics, you need to do it with some like random weird controller or control scheme so your muscle memory doesn't carry over.

This is exactly what I was thinking too. It's not so much the use of mechanics but the ball sense and game sense you have and the ability to execute based off of your opponents actions. I've been a hard stuck D2/3 for the longest time. Every so often I creep into C1 but I'm too inconsistent to progress farther

But it's supposed to be showing that you can get these ranks without mechanics. You can't get to SSL using zero mechanics and zero game sense/ zero movement.

Your shooting consistency is much better than a normal diamond. Not using “mechanics” doesn’t make that much of a difference when your shots hardly miss

Another thing, even though he’s accurate he’s not exactly using crazy advanced shots. Most are a simple front flip shot. Now when he said going for a basic air dribble and then the next shot was a off the wall reset with perfect control that’s definitely not 0 mechs lol

That's the point of ranking out of diamond. How are you suppose to rank out of diamond If you are playing like a diamond? That defeats the purpose. HOW TO RANK OUT OF DIAMOND MEANS LEARN AND MASTER THE BASICS. This whole ariel, air dribble, resets etc is irrelevant if you are below GC3

How do you expect him to leave diamond by playing like a diamond? The entire point is to show how to rank up without learning fancy mechanics

I know he makes it look so easy, but I feel like you need to have the confidence of a gc to be so calm in some of those situations. Like I don't know if I would be able to save the goals so easily, but he knows. But I think the video is great and most diamond players should watch it to learn how to be calm and focused in games.

On top of that he has the mechanics of a gc. Mechanical skill matters not just for the flashy mechanics. Still educational tho.

its hardly applicable what he does in a real diamond lobby. everything he does from soft touches to ball control, taking 50s etc is very clearly a muscle memory he has from being a higher ranked player.

I’m very excited to see the C2 rank. That’s about where I’m at and it feels so weird cuz some games you get gc’s that actually know what they’re doing then you get people fresh out of Diamond then you get hard stuck champs that only know how to dive lol 😂

This is the exact rank I am in now in duos. It's rare that people can air dribble let alone do it cleanly. I would love to hear more about how you're reading the play. I think one of the keys to ranking up is being able to read your opponents. But the higher you get in rank the more you have to read your opponents and be aware of their threats. From a defensive standpoint this is one of the more difficult parts. Like when challenging, how do I recognize the best time to go?

I just made a comment on this and I fluctuate between High d3 and low d2. I only get to play once or so a week. Decision making is key and ballgame control and double commits are huge

yeah i’m in this rank also, but i keep trying to do what like is doing but i can’t seem to get the hang of it. i keep losing, but i feel like i’m doing the right stuff

No, people at this rank can definitely do it consistently and cleanly. They just don’t usually pull it out in ranked games. I know this because I duod with someone here and he never did fancy stuff, but in our practice arena pre game he was air dribbling and flip resetting very well. I am no where close to that personally, but I bet it’s more common to have the skill than we see in game. That said, I do see air dribbles once every game or two even if they aren’t clean. There was one guy today that did two amazing air dribbles in a row and my teammate and I didn’t have a clue of how to stop it.

the higher u get the higher the diff is like a 500MMR gold can win somtimes against his 800MMR plat friend but a 1500GC would never take a game out of a 1800MMR SSL

This is a series of how a high level player can make do with less EXCEPT when it really counts, just aerial, speed flip, recovery, reset, soft touch and save the day.

Yeah exactly. A lot of high level players use their mechanics a lot, but this series is just about not using them until they’re needed. I’ll say as a diamond in a couple of these situations I would not be able to save it. Either I wouldn’t get there fast enough or I’d make a bad save leaving an open net.

you let me realize how easy it is to read other opponents and get your mind not committed on freaking out and lose goals. its really nice you do this and wanted to know if you have a video of getting out of diamond but not just out of diamond on how to do things but like mechanical? i don't know if i missed your video's or not but let me please know with a couple of vids urls for me to watch, thankyou!

Most of the so called “speedflips” in diamond untill GC+ are a hybrid of the oldschool fast kickoff. But instead of a diagonal flip they use a sideflip. Cause alot of people can’t tell the difference between a speedflip and a sideflip. If you fast kickoff it has a similar result as the speedflip just quite a bit slower. Nevertheless it still alowes you to shoot the ball right over your opponent and score directly, just like a speedflip. Seriously guys, don’t get this confused. If you learn how to speedflip, do everything step by step. Else you will develop super bad habits.

I would love that I have so much trouble knowing which position I need to be in. I'm sitting high c2/low c3 solo queue only. I'm not gonna go get a tm8 to hit GC either. Great Video! Although I think you under estimated the game sense of current diamonds. A lot of diamonds make themselves available for infield passes nowadays so you can add that to your next video.

When I play in diamond on an alt I literally saw players consistently hitting multiple resets. I met a diamond 'freestyler' in cas 1s (hardstuck diamond not smurfing) who quad stall reset on me. Obviously they were lacking in other departments and losing to players with worse mechanics, but genuinely they had as good or better 'flashy mechanics' as an SSL and better than me.

Tbh I think the biggest problem that ppl can't rank up is other people and themselves. It is other people telling them at their first miss with the quick chat that they are trash and themselves by wanting to prove themselves to a random dude, which is probably living in the basement of their mom's house.

yeah spookLuke diamond is where you start seeing speed flips

not using many mechanics, its just the basics are literally perfect, like the ball control is amazing, and so is car control, which is what most diamonds don't have

Ballcam control is huge and not spoke about enough. The difference between not knowing and knowing where your opponents are and if you can beat them to the ball.

Zero fancy mechanics but great and powerful shooting as well as perfect defense so it would be pretty easy without any fancy mechs. I think it’s really hard still because no dribbling and air dribbling is the main factor

more demo plays, advanced powerslide control, boost starving, power flicks, only to name a few. i recommend watching waytons video with a 1s pro, he teaches you about boost starving and proper ones techniques

@@richpeters9601 The flakes series is a year and a half old now, watching these plat matches compared to what plat 1s is like today is a still useful, but you have to apply the later parts imo. Maybe if I want an updated series like this I should just work on it myself, carrying my own ass out of plat in the process

The ball control & ability to execute your exact intentions at all times IS A REAL MECHANICAL SKILL & ONLY COMES WITH LOGGING SERIOUS HOURS IN GAME. I realize this blows up the premise of all these “get guud” flex videos but if you’re seriously trying to be helpful instead of getting clicks & selling coaching, you should be transparent about the amount of hours it takes/took you to master the nuances of regular, nonflashy ball & car control.

I change my mind, he dribbles and ariels woth perfection. He doesn’t go for a ton of fancy ariels but this is still more mechanical than most diamonds

Agreed with @daq.. instead of changing to a speedflip, adjust the kickoff to not get beat in some other way, like a person with less mechanics would have to do.

I mean...it is possible to win Diamond with 0 mechanics but it's way too hard and depends who you match up with. Basic aerial, control, shadowing and flicking is necessary even if you're not consistent to progress further. As you saw in Platinum and Diamond, some people are practicing advance mechanics like speed flipping so if you don't know even some basic stuff then you will be most likely rolled by other team. So if you do occasional flick and save by shadowing is totally okay in this rank.

What’s the rule you sometimes break in half flips? Are half flips not allowed anymore?

Half flips are actually really easy. I learned it in gold. Speedflips are tough though

I've been hard lock diamond for few years now, made it to champ a couple of times but can never lock it in. (i only play with randoms never party) the diamond lobby's i end up in have champ tournament winners in most games. suss how they can win a champ tourney but then drop to D2

My issue is i know the correct play i just cant execut the correct play

If I'm correct every year the ranks go up eg if u plat u go to diamond in 2021 I was diamond so now I should be GC but I stopped playing

I think you should play kbm for this so you would not be able to do mechanics
