I do almost the same but never thought to spin dry the dyed warp before rinsing first. I often have super saturated colors and too afraid that darker parts would ruin lighter colors. Helpful video for sure :)

Thanks Susanne! It’s amazing how that spin at the start really helps! Plus, the wet dye is cold, so spinning it out helps the pot boil faster!

So many good tips! I tend to work mostly with protein fibers, and that's partly because of the tedious dying process. Maybe I will dare to try cotton again after this video. I have one question: Do the pattern of the colors show in the end result when you lay it out like that?

Thank you! The pattern does show in the end result. It's never quite perfect, but generally speaking it does. I have been posting some shorts that show the warp on the loom. I actually wove 15 meters on this warp today, so I will have lots to show as soon as I have a second to get a video ready!

Threading the reed on the tension box was quick, were you putting in one thread per slot? Great video. I have an electric skein winder, getting a tension box. Had sectional loom and sold it. Converting my two remaining looms.

I put the threads through the reed on the tension box just like I would on the loom. I figure out what will work best, then do that. I have mini reeds for the tension box in several different sizes / epi.

Do you also dye your weft yarn? Wondering if you do how that process is different than this if any difference.

I do also dye the weft yarn! I will be making a video about that soon! Just recording it today! It’s quite different as I want my weft yarn to be one thread only, as much as is possible!

I feel like its probably Tencel but what thread type is this? Also for tencel does it wash easy? My partner felt a cone of tencel i bought recently and was like "this would make great napkins. you should make them" and I feel like it might not live through multiple washes... thoughts?

It’s not tencel but I have woven a lot with tencel. It would for sure hold up! Tencel is amazing!!! This warp is dandelion which is a rayon.

Oh, I forgot. Tencel washes easily! Definitely easy care. Not super absorbent though. Feels a bit like silk.
