    We arrived a month back in the United States and this video was just what I needed. Lots of great information to get started on the journey of building credit history. Building credit seems a bit complicated and somewhat lengthy process, nevertheless super important and the tips that you have shared will hopefully make it little less painful. Thank you for the direction!

  • @johnsfinancetips

    @johnsfinancetips

    2 жыл бұрын

    If possible I would recommend getting added as an authorized user while also opening a Secured Credit Card. If you have no credit history it might be difficult to open multiple secured credit cards, but in general opening multiple cards does not have any long term negative impacts. I'm glad I was able to help - please let me know any additional questions!

    You said to pay on time and in full. Does that mean if I use my cc and say I spent $150. I have to pay that $150 at once before the due date. Or can I pay installments before the due date ?

    Some Canadian banks such as RBC have a US subsidiary. I've heard of Canadians buying vacation properties in the US and they get their mortgage through RBC's US subsidiary (but based on their Canadian credit history). Perhaps the US subsidiary might also report their mortgage to a US credit reporting agency?

    Hello everyone! I was hoping for some advice. I recently moved to the US but I have a 10 year established credit history in Canada with a score of 810. When I moved in January of this year, I was able to get a bank of America credit card when I opened my bank account. I also recently got approved for the quicksilverone card from Capital one ( I am hoping to upgrade this card to the regular quicksilver card in a few months to have a no foreign transaction fee card). My oldest US credit card is 2 months old. My current Transunion score is 683. I am able to apply for the Amex gold using my Canadian credit score. Would you suggest applying for the Amex Gold in the next 2-3 months? I really do want it but it would end up being one of my oldest US credit cards which might make it difficult to cancel it in the future if I decide I no longer want it. Any advice? Thanks in advance 🙂

Can I open US bank account and apply for credit cards before moving to USA? if so how 2. Can I get SSN once I become exchange student in USA? thank you again I appreciate your help.

    If you get someone to add you as an authorized user, will you inherit “bad” or “not so good/average” credit as well? Asking in case the person who says yes doesn’t have particularly excellent credit

    Thank you so much for this instructive video. However, I am a bit disappointed when you mentioned what you did for your girlfriend since I don't have anyone to do this for me .): And the other options don't sound like I'll be able to build a good credit in less than two years. Since video was posted two years ago, is there any better option in 2023? Thank you!
