These are also wonderful for anxious cats. We originally bought ours for our special needs chihuahua mix, but just after he passed away we adopted an older cat with anxiety issues, we tried rescue remedy, feliway and different medications before it dawned on us we could try the thundershirt. Worked like a dream!

I had an old thunder shirt for my previous dog, who was very sensitive to loud noises. I just got my female spayed, and she was scratching her shaved belly terribly to the point of bleeding. I couldn’t remember how to put the thunder shirt together to protect her, and thankfully, your video was very helpful!

I got one because of thunder. My dog isn't the nervous type. She calmed down and slept longer. She's seemingly happier with it on. It's been very wet and stormy. This was definitely a wonderful investment.

I'm leaving this comment in hopes of helping other skeptics, as I deeply regret having waited so long to try this item. (I'm such a cynic when it comes to things that can feel kind of gimmicky.) Honestly, this worked beautifully to calm my precious pup, Landon! And it's never too late; he's 12 years old. (See why I suffer such immense guilt? All this time I could have eased his stress and brought him some measure of relief.) My little guy gets so freaked-out during thunderstorms, (shaking, quaking, panting, clinging...the whole nine.) To my surprise, as soon as I put the ThunderShirt on him, the tremors ceased and he literally collapsed in my arms - in a good way; just laid right down and eventually dozed off. Please don't wait like I did to give this thing a shot. Sure, there's a possibility it won't work for your dog. More importantly, there's a chance it will! Landon's stress is so much less intense, his fear so minimized - he'll often fall asleep. The anxiety-driven symptoms he once displayed are almost non-existent. Needless to say, I'm beyond grateful and I highly recommend giving it a try. This almost reads like a paid endorsement, doesn't it? Yuck. Let me assure you I'm not affiliated with this company in any way. Just trying to spread the word to help other pups who may benefit from such a product ('cause I just love doggies!)💙 In fact, I purchased a similar item from the AKC in addition to the ThunderShirt. @@EverythingDog I wish there were more camera angles and that the Thundershirt were shown and handled more so I can match it up to the one I bought. I am having a hard time putting it on my dog. There seems to be a flap that doesn't go anywhere. It doesn't make sense to me.

Just bought this and wanted to make sure that it was a correct fit for my 12lb baby…I mean Bichon Frise😌. Right this minute he is laying down almost asleep. I had one for my other baby/dog who was a Blue healer collie mix, she loved it. It really comforted her. (Sadly she passed last year😢.). My bichon cries the whole time he’s in the car. He never used to be affected by the fireworks but this year he is. So I am hoping the Thunder Shirt will work for both. I also ordered the Thunder Wunder Calming Chews that I saw on a commercial for the first time a couple of days ago. As my dog also hates baths and barks at other dogs I hope they will help as well. I will make sure I check with the vet first though. Anyway he’s out 😴. Shirt seems to be working so far.

Hey Teddie V, in my experience, Thunder shirts work right away or not at all. Just depends on the dog. Glad it's helping your little Bishon. We drive our dogs out of town the night of fireworks so they don't hear them. We bring snacks and read a book until they are over. Good luck.

We love the Thundershirt! It gives our nervous dog confidence in public, as well as comfort him during storms.

I bought one for my parents dog. I tried it on my own dog first, and she fell asleep immediately :') I didn't know if that was a good sign, but now I guess it's a good thing :) She could use one too, so I ordered one for her today :)

Hi Anita, yes falling asleep is great. Thundershirts can have zero effect, or it can calm dogs down. Let us know how your dog responds.

@@EverythingDog I tried it three times, every time she fell asleep. She loves thunderstorms and fireworks for some reason, watching out of the window at home, but she has some anxiety issues around other people and dogs. And she's afraid of the wind. She wants to sleep for hours with the thundershirt around her body. Do you know if that's ok? A little bit more loose maybe, not too tight?

@@AH-el7rr If the Thundershirt helps her to not react to people and other dogs and the wind it's an easy way to stop the rehearsal. I'd remove the thundershirt as soon as her triggers have left or stopped.

I bought one for my Pomsky yesterday. I put it on incorrectly and he was stuck to the carpet crying when my son got home.. he’d even wet himself 🥹🥹🥹🥹 Thanks to this video he’s now sleeping through very loud fireworks!!! He’s usually whining and shaking trying to jump on my bed.. this shirt is a miracle!!!!!!!

I have 2 pups who get car sick and we are moving across the country soon, I’m trying to come up with more ideas to help them in the car. Do you think a thunder shirt could benefit car sickness?

Gabriella, the only way to know is to buy one and try it before you move. If it doesn't work try crating and covering the crate. Some dogs get motion sick and some get sick from watching all the things zoom past them. Good luck.

Hey Beny, I'll be interested in Angela's answer as well. In my experience Thunder shirts either work immediately, or not at all. Give it a try and let us know how it worked....or didn't for our little guy.

Follow the manufactures directions.

I put it on my dog. And he started to immediately bite it. Arre there ways to let him get used to it. Or does that mean that it doesn't work

We use the Thundershirt for our son's dog when he gets antsy in the evening. Quiets him immediately.

Is it supposed to be a small fit? I think we got our pup a size too big? It is much larger on our dog than on your baby.

It needs to be snug and comfortable, not loose. The goal is to calm the dog with a full body "hug."

My dog hates it. I didn’t even have it completely on yet and he started to growl at me with a „one more move“ angry face.

So glad it helped your dog. It either works like magic or it does nothing. Not all dog will respond to it. My dog Gio hates it.

It should NOT be as tight as possible.. the gist of the product is to provide gentle constant pressure. I put it on too tightly the first time and my dog was very uncomfortable.

So I can't leave it on for 7 hours while I'm at work?? My 3 month old puppy got a bad separation anxiety

No, it's not designed for that. Imagine being hugged by someone for 7 hours! Gross. You could put it on for 15 minutes, then take if off and leave. If your puppy has true separation anxiety, you'll need more than this thunder shirt. Get a camera and watch your puppy while you are away, that will tell you what she is actually doing and if it's really separation anxiety. if you are gone for 7 hours, you puppy needs a Long Term confinement area and can NOT be crated for that length of time. @@EverythingDog thank you for the link I leave the crate door open so he can go out and use the bathroom the crate is more like a safe place fo him to sleep and nap during the day his better now from barking all the time now he stops for 10 to 15 minutes at the time and the longest is been 25 minutes with out barking cuz I check the camera and that's what it shows now I can shower and his not barking just whining I think is good progress thank you

@@EverythingDogthe fact that you answered this question the way you did completely blows any possibility that I’ll ever consider you a credible source of dog info. According to the manufacturer, they can be left on for extended periods. They recommend only leaving it on for short periods at first, then all day is fine.

Not surprising. Dog's either love it and fall asleep or it's a big nothing.

I wish someone would make a video that shows how to put this contraption on a long-haired dog. When I tried to use this on my anxious dog, her fur got all tangled up in the velcro, causing pain and making things worse. I couldn't put it on properly because the velcro was all full of fur, and I couldn't take it off without ripping fur out by the roots! So I further traumatized an animal who was already upset by a storm. Poor dog. 😱

Linda, It sounds like you need, and probably others, a thunder shirt specifically for a long-haired dog more than a video! Such a bummer about your experience and your dog's experience.
