    I feel a lot of ppl skip this step but if you think about it theres probably a few seconds of metal to metal contact if you dont do it.

    Idk if anyone realizes this, but 1/4 NPT is just a compressed air fitting. They're $2 at harbor freight, threads in perfectly. No hose clamps needed if the hose is tight enough. I'd just be cautious threading and unthreading a steel and especially brass fitting into those threads of the oil pressure sending connector as they're aluminum threads.

    Most definitely, the starter won't be able to spin the motor fast enough to prime the oil system

    @@joshuakazfields4374 I'll let you know in about a week. Hopefully be uploading the Dyno pulls soon on low boost. I finally got it after 9 months of waiting for 300m rods that never came and a Tremec T56 Magnum that was on a 3 month back order. I'm now waiting on a replacement turbo manifold from Hellion that didn't come apart when doing the swap.

    Just hold the gas and brake while you crank for a few seconds then let off the gas. It builds enough oil pressure.

    Hey man dumb question.. I plan to drop my engine back in maybe Sunday.. if I prime it on the stand an it sits a few days it’s still technically “primed” right? And does the oil coming running back out where you have the NPT screwed in?

  • @texaseliteperformance4471

    @texaseliteperformance4471

    Yes it'll be primed just as if you started the car and then let it sit for a couple days , and not allot of oil it'll just drip a little

    Don’t need to do any of this on s550 and up .. just your foot all the way down on the gas peddle and and hold the start button … car won’t start it will only crank to build oil pressure

    So you don't think spinning a dry engine to build up pressure is a bad idea? 🙄

    @@KINGKJ2REAL Yeah thats not a good idea. You could do the same on an S-197 by pulling the fuse on the fuel pump and cranking but you are still spinning a dry engine with the starter motor.

    starter does not spin it fast enough to build oil pressure when bone dry. Hence the name "prime"
