How to Price Salon Chair Rental Rate | Hair Salon Business Tips
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I have been an independent owner/operator of a hair salon for over six years now. Hard to believe it has actually been that long! In my own experience as an owner, setting your salon chair rental rate is crucial to the long term success of your salon business.
If your chair rental rate is too low you could experience a negative cash flow and if its is too high you could experience unrented stations.
Check out this video for more helpful tips on how to calculate your own salon chair rental rate.

Have you considered commission for your salon? Why did you choose booth rent?

I actually did consider. I recently hired a business mentor to help guide me towards that direction. However what I was shown on how to run a commission salon i just didn't like. I do not like to micromanage and keep track of everyone the way a commission salon could run. It is a lot of work up front to get the proper systems in place. And at this point in my life, I actually want to work less. I love the flexibility of a rental salon. Some stylists have amazing comm. salons that are super profitable. My true passion is helping individuals find success in their own business. This topic would be a great video to have a discussion about!

@@SamanthaPiercyhello and thank you. I'm lost in everything. I want to open a salon to work in and to rent maybe 1 chair, I don't even know how to calculate my numbers 😢😂
Why is it that you charge weekly and not monthly? 😊

There are some months that have 5 weeks versus 4. If you charge the same monthly rate for each month, you leaving money on the table for the months that actually have 5 weeks. A lot of it is preference. I prefer to charge week by week. My stylist prepay to work the upcoming week. I offer one week off a year, so its easier for me to track when my stylist's pay per week. And if a stylist goes on maternity leave, it is easier more me to track each exact week they take off, and the discount rate associated with each of those weeks. Hope this helps!

Wait a minute, that's just to cover the cost. Where is the profit?

This is just showing you the minimum of what to charge based off of your expenses. You can always charge more from there. I wanted to explain what is the minimum to charge to cover your expenses. By understanding your expenses you can base what rate would work best for you based on what you want your profit to be. You can make more of an income having two stylist per station, being open more than 4-5 days a week to name a few.
you are talking a lot
