For my Toyota peeps. If you hold down the “lock” button on your key fob and double press the “unlock” button while holding down the lock button, you can achieve the same thing. This function prevents the fob from transmitting the signal. Great for restaurant, at work, gym and home where you park it. To reactivate the fob just press the unlock button. This feature is also great when you are washing your car by hand and you are washing around the door handles and it keeps locking and unlocking. Cheers!

does the door handle sometimes accidentally operate by water when you wash it? imagine the car unlocks after you just locked it under rain.

Good idea. I also recommend that people get a hidden GPS tracker with backup battery installed in their car. Many trackers can be set up for geofencing, meaning if your car moves more than a meter you will get an instant alert on your phone. If the thieves do make off with your vehicle you can track it in real time, and using remote commands from your phone you can shut the engine down (fuel shutoff) and / or sound the horn once you have found the general area where it has been taken to.

@@Jason78744 Really depends where you live. The TK303 GPS which is widely available around the world is a good option. Just requires a SIM card with active balance and it will send the co-ordinates to your phone. Also you can use your phone to remotely activate a relay which can be used to shut off the fuel or sound the horn etc.

MAZDA For my fellow Mazda owners, you can put the fob in battery save mode which turns off the fob's wireless signal so this attack is harder to do. To do it press the lock button 4 times on the 5th press, hold the button down your hazards should flash. You do the same sequence to take the fob out of this mode. You can still use the fob to lock and unlock the car... However, the car will no longer sense the fob for unlocking/locking while the keys are in your pocket. You'll have to hit the unlock/lock button and for starting the car you will have to tab the fob against the push-to-start button.

Besides using a faraday bag, the other option for Toyota is to turn off the key Fob. This will prevent the signal from being captured and the fob cloned. Also, it is recommended that you cover up the vehicle VIN which allows the thieves also to clone your FOB at the dealer.

Since my truck just got stolen (not push button start), I want to prevent my ‘15 Mustang from the same fate. Wouldn’t it just be easier to locate the starter fuse or relay and pull it? Or install a kill switch? That would prevent it from being taken no matter what. Question is which fuse to pull and hopefully one that’s inside the cab.

I would also advise to also test your FOB. For example, whe nI put the battery back in my Toyota FOB, unless the key was within 3-4 ft of the car it wouldn't unlock or start. This doesn't prevent someone from stealing it obviously (which is why I remove the battery in the first place) but some cars use weaker signals for this purpose so it's harder for someone farther away to grab the signal. Apparently the one for my Toyota must not be very strong. IN fact once, I had it in my pocket and it still didn't detect the key with the battery in the FOB which I thought was a bit odd. But now I just keep the battery removed and just use a mechanical key.

Does an error message come up??? Can the car be driven while keybob is in the pouch while driving???? Just wondering if thieves can capture a keybob signal while we are driving with the keybob is out inside the vehicle??? How safe are we while driving with keybob sitting open inside the vehicle?? Say the thieves are in another vehicle following close by.

I keep the key FOB units inside of a shielded box for key FOBs when it is inside of the house. When I am out in public places I manually lock the vehicle instead of using the key FOB. This avoids the key FOB from sending a signal. I realize when in a parking lot someone within about 50 feet can read your key FOB using a remote reader. This can be an issue in parking lots. Remote locking or unlocking your car makes the key FOB send the signal for over 300 feet. Wrapping your key FOB in aluminum foil will also block it. Also, putting it in to any type of metal containment will block it. I would prefer to use a blocking type of pouch for convenience.

  • @gcraig0001
    @gcraig0001 Жыл бұрын

If you have a Ford there is a much easier way to foil keyless entry criminals. Find the settings menu for your vehicle (usually on the dash and activated by buttons on the steering wheel). Scroll down to the "Locking" section, then down to the selection that says Keyless Entry. Toggle that to off. Now you will need to push the button on the remote to unlock the car, just like in the days before keyless entry became a thing. The Faraday bags tend to be a PITA (as you could see in the video), and odds are most people aren't going to constantly put the fob into the bag when they leave the car and then have to remove it to open the car door.

I've wondered why automakers don't just immobilize the car when it can no longer detect the key. Maybe to prevent it from being immobilized if the battery dies or the fob malfunctions somehow, but how often would that really happen? You are generally given a pretty generous notice that the battery is running low long before it will actually die, and the chance of the fob mysteriously breaking while driving is pretty slim unless your kid is playing with it and smashes it or throws it out the window or something

I understand thieves can still vehicles easily but my cars stays garage kept and i also have cameras around my house where I can literally see someone coming up my driveway from motion sensors going off. I don't think you understand how they steal your car. Theives are basically scanning and then getting the signal from your Fob. They then copy it to a blank fob, and come back later, usually at night, and they're gone with your car. So yes your truck can still be stolen, once it's a push start model, because the truck essentially thinks the cloned key is the actual key.

They don't need one. modern key fobs will go to "sleep" when they are away from your car or else it will kill the battery in your fob quickly. It will wake up again when you get close to your car which allows you to unlock your car. The only way these pouches work is if you never use your key fob, because as soon as you take it out to unlock your car, the thieves will be able to steal the code. You may as well just remove the battery from your fob.

The thing with these pouches is they’re defeating the purpose of keyless smart entry. What are you going to do ? Keep taking the fob in and out of the bag every time you come up to your car ? May as well take out the fuse for smart entry and use it as a button remote. I think it makes sense for storing keys in a box in a drawer but for everyday it’s like why did you even go keyless man ? Also pretty hilarious your neighbor is walking his kid and using the repeater. 😝

For All push button start vehicle owners, you can prevent theft of your vehicle with two simple steps 1- Lock your car, even better if it’s locked inside a garage. 2- Place your key fob in a faraday cage or box, and make sure the cage or box is properly closed. If you don’t have a faraday cage, wrapping your key in tin foil and placing it more than 30 ft from your car will make it difficult to steal. 3- The other effective way to stop theft is to remove the batteries from your key fob, however this can require re-attachment (programming) of your key to your computer. … The faraday cage or box will prevent communication signals being emitted from your key fob. So, man in the middle software cannot be used to steal four vehicle.

There are two types of theft 1. Capturing fob signal when you park the car at public place (mall, street, restaurant, etc). Thieve sits near a parking spot, the moment you exit car and press fob to lock doors, he captures and records the signal. You walk away at your business, he moves right inside your car and leaves with it. Only way to prevent this is to lock your car using the lock buttons - either on door interior or small one on the exterior handle. This theft is very common in Europe, careful when travelling with a rental car 2. Capturing fob signal while car is parked at home - keep *all fobs* inside faraday box (faraday pouches wear after a while and no longer block the signal). To check a box, put fob inside, sit inside car, try to start vehicle.

I'm a bit confused about how this theft happens. I understand from the video that the thief can amplify the fob signal to start the car, but how do they get it out of park? My car will not come out of park if the key is not within the car. The thief is able to make the car think the key fob is inside the car?

For VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat: Lock the car using the button on the key and lock it again, but using the sensor on the door handle within 5 seconds. Now you can only unlock the car by pressing the button on the key.

These things are like $7-10 for a pack of two. Why even bother making some ghetto thing that will probably cost something similar, or just have a properly made one you don't think about, just throw the fob in as needed. To save a couple dollars? Is that worth the time and effort? Lol

Appreciate you trying to educate people, tho your comment is categorically incorrect, that stolen cars are put on shipping containers to be sent overseas by cargo ship. (fyi the cost to ship a vehicle overseas is $2k to $7k) Stolen cars are sold to your friendly neighborhood chop shop,, or sold on the black market, or sold for parts. On another note, I've enjoyed many of your vids, nice job🏆
