@sincor skateboarding ect As long as they've been public, their first obligation is to their shareholders. Get away from that, you can get sued or voted off the board (meaning no more board pay or comped expenses). The illusion that most of these companies were generally moral comes from their conduct of most profitable behavior aligning with what looks good to the market of buyers. They've had generous benefits for a long time, but that's probably due to a combination of two things: * wage price controls in the past where employers weren't allowed to increase cash pay, so they offered other things * being cash poor at least in a current sense and offering future benefits to employees to get through negotiations Those are both things that arise out of needing to make money, not give it away.

For an old timer like me, the key fob is a terrific convenience. It keeps me from having to fumble for the ignition keys. It stays nestled in my pocket without the need to take it out to open the car door or the trunk. This is one technology that I really appreciate .

@@abbassaada9548 I can agree. Its hands free. I wear my keys on my neck at all times now without having to drop what I'm holding or doing to yank it from my neck etc. Its so convenient.

Great public service here! Thanks, Scotty! I thought I knew about modern key technology, but you showed me some new stuff. If I am in a strange neighbourhood, or a busy parkade, I ALWAYS open my car with the key in the door, the old-fashioned way. That way nobody can get your code. It's the same reasoning as you mentioned about locking.

Great advice Scotty. When we bought my daughter a car for going to college we only received 1 electronic key. I bought another one from the dealer for $275 and bought a valet key for another $90. We hide the valet key on the car in case she loses her key while away from home. I know it is old school and a risk but that is what I do on all my cars - and it has come in handy a couple of times. It is tough to find a good metal surface now days with all the plastic in cars.

Fun video. I lectured my wife of the importance of always having a 2nd key. Additional observation he missed: For battery keyfobs, always have a spare BATTERY around. For newer cars that won't start without a charge, and if you're in the middle of nowhere then there's a problem. For some cars that include a built in backup door opener (old fashioned key), you can keep the spare battery in the glove compartment and then load it up and start the car if needed.

As a retired locksmith this was very informative and told people in laymans terms the ins and outs of a keyless and remote lock system. They can get very expensive and damage to the rest of the car's system can happen if inexperienced tech's hands, always use a legitimate licenced and bonded locksmith!
