I'm 19 trying to hunt for my first time with traditional recurve. I've used these exercises and my strength has increased thank you. Also wish me luck, college doesn't give me more than a Saturday's to hunt.
I shoot no more than 50lbs. But, your workout is good for us low poundage archers too. Thanks brother.

Thanks for this vid. Two rebuilt shoulders from bike crashes (last one some lady without an American license who left hooked me) that haven't aged well means I am often underpowered in my bows, maxing out around 45 lbs. I would like to try bowhunting some day but often find myself wondering if a 40 or 45 lb bow would be strong enough -- and, how to prevent shoulder injuries should I go higher. During practice I sometimes shoot for an hour or even two so this is an issue for me.

Good ergo tips. Speaking from experience once you have a crunchy shoulder, it will be there for life. Conservation of joint life by using the correct ergonomics, as pointed out in this video, is key to a long archery life. Without proper ergonomics in your draw, you will be making a deal with heavy doses of the Ibuprofen devil, to continue your archery life.
Tex, you’re right about lifting some weights, (specially if you’re going to wear them sleeveless shirt) buddy! It will also help with pulling those heavier draw weighted bows. Are your talkin about damaging your rotator cuffs?? Weight lifting can help with that too. Tex, do you practise being able to fire your bow with either hand?? I’ve been workin on that, just like you would with a firearm in case of being injury.
If I could recommend anything to the new traditional archer, regardless of size or strength is do not get to heavy of a bow. Nothing wrong with a #35 or #40 recurve. You want to be practicing archery not weightlifting. The form and strength will come with time.
