Love these kind of videos you make. Thanks a lot. I'm doing the same thing with the running boards of my lincoln navigator, not sure if this was the best idea with it, so far.

Haven't lubed my 2012 Tahoe boards and they have worked fine for 10 years!!! However passenger side is getting a bit "grindy" hence looking at these videos. Dont have lube oil spray but do have WD 40 with a straw. Will that work or not?

I've been soaking the running board pivots the way you described on my '17 Suburban since new. They're stuck in the down position anyhow. The quote to fix the problem was $1700 at the local Chevy dealer. The entire running board assembly was a $1500 option on the vehicle when new. oooph I'll never buy these items on a new item again, despite the convenience. Caveat emptor!

I agree. I have the same issue on my Escalade. Is it safe to drive with them stuck in the lowered position?

Steve and I were using PB Blaster penetrating oil in this video. You can find it at any auto parts store. Hope this helps you out.

Why wouldn’t you do this with the vehicle on the ground while having the boards temporarily extended to service the hinges more easily?

It was easier to do this on the lift and video so we could show our viewers what to look for.

It's a PITA to get to the underside and backside from the ground, especially then the running board is extended.
