I recently picked up the DJI Focus Pro to assist with my upcoming feature film. With that being said, I wanted to make a quick video just letting folks know that you can actually power the device with a single V Mount Battery.
Alternatively, you can use the handle (built in battery) provided but my unit will mainly fly on my steadicam so I was curious to see if this could be done.
You will need to get a DJI Base Power Supply in order to do this, once you get one you can run your v mount battery into it.
The only con is, it doesn't display the battery percentage which is fine because this can be done on the V Mount itself. (on some models)
I'll talk more about this in the future but just wanted to let you all know that it could be done.
In this video, I'm using the Red Komodo + Meike 35mm FF.

Yeah I couldn’t seem to find the answer in the sponsored videos I was watching but it works fine. Just another way to use it for those of us who don’t need the handleb

Great video thanks. Could you try to connect the lidar and the motor on usb to see if the grip can work wireless please?

Can you explain this a little more? You wanna see if it works without them being plugged into the grip itself? So you could theoretically have it wireless like the other focus wheel they sell?

@@11.Pierre exactly. I see another creator use it whith the pro grip and for that he just plug the lidar and motor on usb. And when he power on the big grip it just connect wirelessly. My theory is they need power but not connection. Sorry for my English, I'm French.

Why would you want to mount the lidar camera so high? I thought it is better if it is closer to the lens / sensor?

Still tweaking it, tbh I’ve seen people mount close to body and close to lens. But I actually have a longer magic arm (+ extra hot shoe , this way I can try both methods properly) coming later today. My handle was taking up space lol, I’ll talk more about this in my full video. DJI says get it close to camera sensor, other youtubers had it close to lens. So we’ll see but so far it seems to work either way (it allows you to input the distance on the system which you manually measure) but I’ll circle back. Trust, that was 1 of the tricky things about setting it up that confused me as well. I’ve never used lidar at all until this week. From what i noticed, it seems you want to get it as close to the field of view as the lens because the lidar works damn good. Whatever box is highlighted on the lidar screen is what will be in focus so I can see why others had it near lens but I’ll be testing it more to confirm.

how do yo power the red Komodo if the vmount battery is already powering the grip and the lidar?

I have the BP to v mount adapter for the Komodo, so it powers the Komodo from there. then I use 2 ports to power the lidar/grip. I removed the grip in the video and replaced it with a DJI power base that plugs into the v mount.
