I purchased this a few months ago and finally decided to do a breakdown review of my experience. This Steadicam is going to be 1 of the primary tools I'm using on my upcoming independent film. This system supports a max payload of 35kg, this is literally enough to handle any camera rig combination you can imagine.
I debated for awhile before finally pulling the trigger and ordering this unit for my business and I can honestly say, it's worth every penny. I've mainly used it with my Red and also my Z-Cam system.
With that being said, tune in and learn if getting this steadicam is right for you. If you have any questions, drop them below and I'd be more than happy to offer insight.
Here's a link to the actual produce so you can get yours! - digitalfoto.store/products/th...

3:49 - footage wearing the unit

4:40 - footage of unit
5:30 - always make sure you are properly wearing the vest/fine tune it
5:50 - how the steadicam compares to an electronic gimbal
6:30 - no electronic gimbals can support this payload at this price point
6:50 - footage wearing the unit
7:15 - the value you get with this unit, a 77lb payload is insane!
7:40 - the Laing Master 2 is more expensive ($5500)
7:50 - the other name brand steadicam is $35k
8:15 - who is this system for , who needs a steadicam
9:05 - once your camera goes pass a certain weight, you need a steadicam
9:20 - this is great for filmmaking
9:40 - it works well for music videos as well
9:50 - the cons
10:10 - you’re going to have to get comfortable working the steadicam
10:22 - easily the best value on the market
10:40 - it’s cool to have big brands but you don’t actually need them
11:00 - s/o to digital foto for creating a great tool
11:30 - I purchased this unit because I didn’t want to hire a steadicam op and wanting to DP my film
12:00 - footage from my red Komodo on the steadicam
12:28 - more footage
12:39 - more footage
12:50 - outro

Finally got time to watch this. As another operator of this rig in Texas, we should collaborate on projects! I'm actually looking for more work and currently setting up my rig to be the ultimate DIY arri trinity. I'm also the guy from the CineD video, we briefly talked on Facebook.

Thanks for tapping in and sure thing, your video was 1 of the ones I originally found. What part of Texas are you in? and yes, I still haven't added my Crane 3s onto but have just been practicing more and more with it to help on my film project. I'm loving it and the more I learn about the steadicam, the better value this actually becomes to me. We got a lot of good feedback at NAB when people were demo'ing it but yeah man I'll tap in with yoU!

Hey! Just some tips: you need to add more weight on the top stage (or reduce on the bottom) so when you have the sled balanced and a drop time that works for you (usually 2,5 to 5s) the gimbal is closer to the camera so you don’t have too much post between the gimbal and the camera. I strongly recommend everyone who wants to start operating a steadicam to attend to a course. It’s not as user friendly as a gimbal and there are a lot of adjustments you need to learn in order to operate it correctly and don’t ruin your own body while fighting an unbalanced rig with bad postures.

thank you for hte pro tips, I've been playing around with configuration at home as I've continued to go through the steadicam guide book that I got. Going to continue making adjustments and figuring out the best combo. Ideally I want to get it fully down before I get ready to shoot my film thats a few months away !

Hey, great vid! I bought a Laing Master 2 and it's been treating me great. I noticed that your gimbal handle is very low from the top stage, I recommend you buy a weight plate! Apex Cinema Gear sells an eleven-pound plate for about $300 and has honestly been one of the best purchases I've invested in for practicing at home and flying real light weight camera builds. Also try to reduce the bottom weight to keep your post a bit shorter for easier operation!

Thank you and I’ve since updated it, added more weight to my rig but this was my first instance so it’s been a learning curve.! Def appreciate the pro tips, I am thinking of doing a follow up video on this for new users like myself!

Great video! One thing I wish I knew when starting out is to keep the gimbal as close to the camera as possible; it helps a lot. and If you need the camera higher, use a longer arm post or apple boxes.

That's definitely something to keep in mind, so far there support has been on point but you made a valid point. I think from an independent perspective the risk is worth it. But man, I'm 1 of those super independent people so I was able to validate it for what I'm working on. Provided someone takes care of it, I believe it could work well for many others as well.

thank you for your insight, I think some people just refuse to believe that the 'gap' is closing. this occurs everywhere not just with camera gear but also I think people have to understand, it's okay to like specific brands but it doesn't automatically mean that something else isn't as good or sucks. I personally consider myself a true independent/on a budget with excellent quality filmmaker/creator - so if I can find something that is affordable or will save me money - I'll always explore it. @@vhauser416

Have you tried using a brushless gimbal in top of the sled? Like this for example: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6Ror6SEisuTebg.html Since the Thanos-Procine can handle the extra weight, you could easily fly a DJI Ronin 2 with a decent size camera.
