Hi, Firstly this is a question related to another brand of Dash Camera, I have a FineVu GX-300, I am thinking of hard wiring it, but now just stumbled across this little gem of an idea, as reluctant to use add a circuits as they never sit correctly. I am seeing that this lead has the same single pin connector that the FineVu also runs for power, not a Mini USB style, I am wondering if there is anyone out there that has used this OBD Plug set up on a different Camera.

Does it work with the radar as well .?

I have one concern on the thinkware obd cable. It uses more pins than power pins, it should be only 2 pins just like iroad obd cable. Can you please advise the reason of using these exta pins?

Hi Thinkware.. what is the maximum current rating this cable can supply on 12v . ?

I have just bought the u1000 with radar sensor & ivolt external battery, Can I use the obd option with the ivolt external battery & the radar sensor instead of hardwiring ?

No, The ivolt mini does require you to either connect to an ACC fuse or use your 12v outlet.

does it has 3 cables similar to the fuse tap wiring kit the ACC, POWER and ground?

Hello Joenas! The OBD Cable provides ACC and Constant power by just plugging it into the OBD Port.

I have F770 and the old Cellink B battery hardwired to my fusebox for about 4 years. Is it possible to get the external battery connected on OBD 2 instead of hardwiring it?

Hi There, unfortunately, you won't be able to use the OBD Cable with the external battery.

I'm looking for a dash cam solution. I want something to cover front/back and internal. Thinking about getting the Vantrue N4 Three Channel Dash Cam. Not sure what would be best

Hi. I just got the u1000, will this Thinkware OBD-II Power Cable work with my dash cam? Is there only one Thinkware OBD-II power cable?

What is the s-p mode switch on the OBD plug for? Can't find any mention of it in the manuals.

Answered my own question. It's on the side of the box. And here I was reading the manual; silly me. P is parking mode ON, S is parking mode OFF.

is it gonna drain the battery if i use this obd cable compare to a traditional cigarette plug?

Get a drone mobile installed, i have one, i start the car up to 3 times a day to charge the batteries when I fly out and gone for 2 weeks.

How does the dash cam know if you've turned off your ignition? It doesn't look like it'll pull any information from the OBD-II port.

Hello there, the power cables, like the OBD or Hardwire cable, are able to detect your battery voltage which is how it determines when your car is turned on or off!

@@thinkwaredashcam to get the 24 hours monitoring to work does the dash camera need to have a parking mode to access the 24 hours monitor.

Like the hardwire cable, will the ODB2 connector stop power being drawn to the camera if the car's battery voltage drops?

Can you turn off the parking mode? I want to use an obd cable, but I have an enclosed garage and sometimes I don't get to use my car for days and i don't want to drain my battery.

Hi Mike, you can Enable/Disable Parking Mode from the Settings. With Parking Mode disabled, the Dash Cam will automatically shut off when you turn the vehicle off.

@@thinkwaredashcam I have the Echomaster OBD cable in a new 2023 Kia Sportage and my problem is "it won't shut off!" Have tried every configuration thinkable on the app and no luck. Going back to Geek S tomorrow for troubleshooting

@@thinkwaredashcam Just returned from Geek S trouble shoot and the "new" OBD cable turned out to be defective. Removed, wired with hardwire accompanying dash cam and now shuts when ignition off.

NICE no more cutting into the factory harness which can void factory warranty . Will this work for the Q800 pro ?

Hello Lasana, Unfortunately, the OBD power cables do not work with Electric/Hybrid vehicles. If you are wanting the parking mode option, we highly recommend using the Hardwire Cable!

Hello Maveric, the OBD cable should work as long as you have a fully gas-powered vehicle. The OBD does not currently work with electric/hybrid cars. Thank you!

Every time I plug my obd and then closed the car door and then try to lock the car it won't be able to let me how can h fixed this problem

Hi there! All Thinkware Dash Cams feature the Battery Protection (Voltage Cut Off) Setting to ensure you will not return to the vehicle to a low or dead battery. The Dash Cam will automatically power down once the vehicle's battery voltage level is lower than the selected value for more than 5 minutes.

Our new OBD-II cable is easier to install, plus it's less bulky which makes hiding the wires easier. It's even a little bit less expensive!

@@thinkwaredashcam I was never able to get parking mode working for a U1000 camera. Is this OBDII cable exclusively for parking mode or is it a complete wiring solution, for both continuous & parking mode recording?

@@josemerlos334 good question. I have mine in my 2019 Ford ranger. I have the older OBD cable and about 4 minutes after I turn the ignition off, it powers down the camera. But once I open the doors, it will power back up. I don’t know why that does that. I thought being hooked up into the OBD port, it would remain on all the time.

Hello Gino, Unfortunately the Dash Cam cannot be powered via USB-C. The power options we currently offer are the 12V Car Charger, Hardwiring Cable, OBD Cable, and iVolt Battery Pack.

@@siricepick Hello there, the OBD cables cannot read the voltage levels on Electric or Hybrid vehicles which can cause the camera to go into parking mode while you are driving!
