Can't believe you sell a hardwire kit at $35 Canadian and don't throw in the fuse adapters. It's essentially an overpriced box of wires.

No, it is a smart power supply that commands the cam to enter and exit "park mode recording". $35CDN is very inexpensive, actually. [EDIT: there are numerous fuse form factors, since you dislike paying $35CDN for the hardwire kit you surely will dislike paying for the unused add-a-circuit components]

It always helps to look at the fuse layout diagram, so you know you are not tapping a critical fuse. another way to make sure you have proper orientation of your tap. first place it in, with only the tap fuse placed ( the one that will be powering your camera ) plug in tap if you have power on your tap wire, then it's placed correctly, if not, reverse the position of the tap. in any case once you know the correct position, put the original car fuse in the tap slot for it. doing it this way might be easier then trying to poke a probe into a tiny slot in a hard to reach area, less chance of shorting something out as well.

@@blaze858j It means that some fuses stay on for 10 minutes then shut off after 10 minutes after you turn off your car. • @agriperma

parking mode does consume power when the engine is off, hardwire kits, usually have a cut off circuit to prevent these cameras from draining to much juice from your cars battery. having 2 separate cameras would drain twice as much power, you definitely want to use the battery protector, you your car might not start the next morning.

Fuses are, basically, just strips of metal. As such, they are not polarized (i.e., they do not have to be plugged-in in one or the same way), so their orientation (i.e., whether the amperage number is "right-side up" or "upside down") is not important, and will work either way. The same may not be true of whatever device you hook up to it, such as, apparently, this dash cam unit (i.e., just like some household/office devices that may have a polarized plug requiring them to be installed in one and only one way). I cannot answer your question about the dash cam's fuse rating, as that is specific to that device, though the video stated that it can be lower (n.b., I would hope that the dash cam's instructions indicate the proper fuse rating).
