    I did some pour painting tiles and now I’m ready to resin. I have a couple of questions. 1). Do I first wash tile to get rid of silicone? 2). Do I need to put a coat of varnish to give a bit of “tooth?” 3) Is one coat of resin enough? Finally I compared the price of 3 different resins (Marine Pro, Art Resin, and Stone Coat)..and STONE COAT has the best price. I ordered just 32 oz this time but next order I will order the larger one; using your site. Thank you. Monte

  • @ChristinaWelch

    @ChristinaWelch

    Monte, I set mine on a tray and cover with baby powder to absorb the silicone for a couple days. I then wipe them off and wipe with a damp towel. I do a quick wipe with alcohol and let set a day before I resin. I do 2 coats of resin because most times your edges will look like they need another coat. I sand it between coats and wipe again with alcohol before putting the second coat on. Stonecoat is the best resin I have used thus far.

Also, I'll be visiting your FB page as you suggested. Thanks!!

  • @ChristinaWelch

    just do small batches, like 1 cup at a time so it doesn't heat up while it's sitting. Also, if you used silicone make sure you get it off before resin. Wear gloves so you're not putting any oil back on the tiles. If they have spots that doesn't cover, you'll need another coat. Clean, lightly sand and recoat. Tiles are tricky when you use silicone
