How To: Position Yourself to Make The Shot in IL-2 Multiplayer / Aiming in IL-2 Multiplayer

Ойындар

Aiming in IL-2 is hard if you are new especially in IL-2 multiplayer. Improving your gunnery takes a lot of time and practice until it becomes a feeling. This video goes through examples of how you can use positioning or wingman information to make shots easier. Perfect aim will let you land hard shots but good positioning will allow you to make hard shots easy.

actually the correct way to do it is hold down the cannon button in pure-pursuit and then just pull like 9G's and at least 1 out of the 200 shells you fired will probably hit.

Aiming in IL-2 is hard! I hope this helps. I decided to have many clips and have one main lesson in each one. I was thinking of maybe doing just a few clips and do a lot more lessons and talk through it but I decided with this format. Let me know if you guys would prefer to go narrow and deep on fewer clips or if you like this format. Thanks! Please like and subscribe if you find this helpful.

I like the format, well done and drives the points home. Tracking the plane you are trying to clear is not something I do so I will work on that. Also the rudder! I use it a lot to fly but do forget in the moment of combat you can use it to flick shots. And yes TrackIR is freaking awesome, once you get the settings dialed in it is a game-changer. S!

Thanks for the idea I will keep it in mind when I have good footage. I try to only make videos of what I have filmed live and edit in my reactions to it and not necessarily just recreate things because I find it a bit too forced. I will keep it in mind though when I review footage.

I have been working on my aiming problem. Lol I can pretty much get people into the solution. But can’t seem to hit the target. This video has made the difference. Watch the videos and got the Robert Shaw book ACM. Had a working theory. I think this video has brought it all together. Thanks

That's a good one when dealing with target fixated enemies .....watch where their target is going...then you get an edge on lining up and taking your shot. Be careful don't become fixated on assuming he won't spot you goes without saying Tables can turn VERY QUICKLY .

Discord is easy once you get used to it, it's like a blend between teamspeak and mIRC or slack. All of the big youtubers have their own discords, I have my own but it's not a huge one. Sheriff, Central, Requiem, Jorge, Finnish and Combat box are some of the largest discords in the IL2 community. There is also the unofficial il2 discord which can be found here: discord.gg/UXFKX6G

You can fly gunner on IL-2 Great Battles bombers. Don’t know whether individual multi-player servers have restrictions. There are some old but epic videos with Bismarck and the BoTime wrecking crew flying this way. (They don’t take themselves particularly seriously. . .)

@@Enigma89 good point. I’ve been playing il2 for about 4 months now and I’m getting the hang of it pretty well I think. before I got my pc I was playing a lot of war thunder with the Xbox hotas. I know that doesn’t really compare much other than understanding the concepts of flight and multiplayer interactions but I’m applying what I know to adapt to a more realistic environment and it’s working pretty well combined with soaking up as much knowledge I can find from various outlets. I like to fly with people whose teaching styles jive with the way I learn tho so hopefully we can fly together sometime for sure.

@@Playmatessss Convergence still matters for nose-only guns, as the setting also affects vertical convergence. You can set higher convergence to lob your bullets higher, which means you have to pull less lead to hit someone. You might be tempted to set your convergence to the max, but that makes the "easy" shots a lot harder - i.e. where the bandit is not turning relative to you (like a bomber or an unaware fighter), which is why many players stick to 400m as a compromise for nose mounted guns (plus it's the default convergence, so many players are used to it).

Just takes practice. You should seriously watch gun cam compilations of the people who have good aim, I have some and you can check out Krupinski. You need to see what is and isn't viable and then you can start to practice on your own. Don't forget to use rudder.

I find myself wondering why the Germans didn’t mount their gun sights an inch or two higher. (Sorry, 25 - 50 mm higher.) Pulling lead in a turn is pure penance.
