Definitely a thumbs up here. But, after there's a seed-pod - is it absolutely necessary to use equipment like laminar flow hoods etc to grow the seeds? Are there any super basic ways to grow the seeds without laminar flow hoods for cases where low success rate is tolerable?

I wasn't going to watch this video, but I am glad I did. Very interesting. Now I am beginning to see how orchids are name tagged. Have you made a video and understanding orchid tags? They seem to be confusing to read or understand. Thanks Brittany.

Pollinating and hybridizing your own plants sound so cool! ^^ I can't wait to try it out when some of my plants are in bloom. Do you have any recommendations for labs?

As I'm moving this year I will probably send it off to a lab and have them flask it. I dont want to mess with sterile equipment and baby plants when I move house lol

Hi Brittany, I watched your video from a while back addressing Catasetums coming out of dormancy. I was wondering what you usually do when they are done growing, when the leaves drop. Like when you know to remove them from the pot and store them while dormant?

Thank you so much for the tutorial. That pod is huge. It will be great to see follow up video of the pod. When it's ripe, will it shrink or stay the same size?

When its ripe it will change color, but it won't start shrinking until it begins to dry up. This pod still has a few more months before that happens though.

Oh my goodness. I have fallen in love with orchids, but I am a true beginner. I only have 3 Phalaenopsis. I would like to get another type of orchid. What would you suggest for a beginner growing inside.

Hi Brittany, I have a question: do you use a special osmocote for your catasetum orchids or it's just "random" osmocote, the one you would use for roses, hyacinths, and so on? I ask this because I have seen that some vendor on ebay sells Osmocote "for orchids", and maybe catasetums would work well with normal osmocote....

+LevelD1985 I pollinated them for funsies just to see what would happen. now that the pod is formed I will probably send it off to a lab. I will be moving to a new state this year so I don't want to flask it myself just yet.
