    This is one of the few polishes where it’s possible. Many other polishes contain strong solvents that will stain trim. Also, any aggressive microfiber or wool pad will still damage trim no matter how safe your polish is. For an enhancement like this with a trim-safe polish and a finishing pad, not strictly necessary.

    I love the fact that you show amazing tricks for the everyday user ! For those who don’t know . When you are detaling a car, it’s easy to get it to 80% perfection pretty fast, the last 20% is the difficult part. There is almost no point in spent hours or days correcting a daily driven car that gets expose a lot. Eventually, that car because it’s daily driven will get scratched again or things happen in everyday use. However, if it is a show car orna weekend car, that is another deal, and that is another conversation about what tools and technique use !

    Well, it's fascinating to see how fast and simple the process of coating can be. I haven't happened to do any ceramic coating yet, but it looks like applying a ceramic topper, only needing just a little more caution. That's a more general question, but I believe it applies to your coatings too. If the paint feels not slick and towels are a little "draggy" after having properly preped the car (decon wash), does it mean that the coating has faded away? In case of your coatings, would you simply reapply it or polish and then re apply? Keep it up!

  • @diydetailofficial

    @diydetailofficial

    Жыл бұрын

    When it feels “draggy” it needs mechanical decontamination. A true coating doesn’t fade away, it must be removed with abrasion. It’s best to lightly polish before applying a new coating.

    every paint is different, is it original paint? If so, be careful and cautious and just very gentle with the polishing. This method would work, but if you've never polished before you might run into issues you're not sure how to trouble shoot. Just be aware of that, don't let it scare you away though. With that said, make sure to wash and decontaminate the paint first and then try this method in an inconspicuous area as your polishing test spot

    As someone new to being a DIYer this seems like the most intimidating part of detailing to get into - apply power tools to your cars paint! How would you know you need to do this? What is it you are trying to get out of doing this? Is this to get rid of the small marring and scratches? Thanks.

  • @diydetailofficial

    Big question, but basically you're trying to amp up the gloss and prepare your vehicle for a last step protection product. You want clean paint, the coating doesn't care if you have scratches. Polishing is a deep clean step that also gives you shine! This podcast should be helpful: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kYCfppSphauxlLA.html

    How would you strip off previous wheel protection before coating? Also, would ceramic gloss an hour after application protect from the bird bomb or bugs during the first week?

  • @johnfreeman440

    @johnfreeman440

    Жыл бұрын

    I would think a heavy concentration of All Clean foamed on the wheels and some type of 'strip' wash/clay towel after would get the wheels pretty close - and a panel prep spray right before... On the Ceramic Gloss...my best guess would be not to do that so soon after the coating is applied. I feel like giving the coating the same week they recommend before washing is probably the best bet.
