New sub here! I’m looking forward to your clips! I’m a driveway enthusiast, my car is garage kept and in great shape. But I gotta be honest I’m a novice when it comes to polishing. Your clip has given me some confidence lol

The forced component of pad rotation is not elliptical - it is circular. It's the combination of the rotation about the free-spinning axis, and the forced rotation, that produces the elliptical "orbits"

I just spent the past week mowing my 10 year old clearcoat down with 2000 and 3000 grit to get the clarity I've craved. Hopefully Essence and 2 coats of SiC will compensate for all the clear I took off.

Essence nor any ceramic coating will add back the amount of clear that is taken off by wet sanding or compound. But it will help you care for what you have left and add a couple micron back.

Hey Corey, I have a 10” x 10” white paint transfer from a street pole on the back corner bumper of a black car that I have to correct. Do you suggest using my dual polisher & if so what compound? Ty for your help.

Ok, I don't use those products so not too familiar but try a test spot with the least aggressive and if it doesn't come off then move up to more aggressive measures till you find the ticket.@@PrinceOfDarkness1975

If I wet sand about 3" with 1500 to 3000 -to 5000, do you prefer to compound then polish or just polish?

Generally speaking, compound and then polish. But you can always do a test with your polish/pad combo and see if it comes out evenly. The concern is any deeper ticks below 5000 that you might have missed but I suppose it comes down to your goals and how evenly and skillfully it was wetsanded.

I’m thinking about slopping on some gliss v2 for over the winter and maintaining it with elixir and descale for fun. However, I’m befuddled. With a ph of 6 you’ve said descale shouldn’t be used every wash, but why? Would I be better off buying a 50ml tester of descale and just wash the salt and grime off at the end of winter? If I use descale every wash am I a bad person? Will neighbors walk by and mutter “that boi ain’t right”? I mean I could purchase a 500 ml and there’s literally nothing anyone could do to stop me from washing my car with it weekly. Seriously tho. I appreciate the guidance.

The method of best practice is "least aggressive method first". In other words, if you can be gentle then you are gentle and if something requires more force then you use more force. So in the case of washing cars, Reset would be that perfect regular soap to use BUT if you have really nasty stuff getting on your paint and car getting so mineral laden every week then YES, you could use Rescale every week if necessary. The point is that it is not best practice to use every wash unless needed. Of course (like you said) if you wish to wash your car even every 2 hours every day for the rest of your life with whatever product you wish, nobody will stop you :). Have a great day!
