Fabulous lesson. Such an iconic song and one that all acoustic guitarists want to know and play. This was the very first song I learned on guitar back when I was 15 years old in the mid 70's. I had a Paul Smon songbook with just the chord diagrams, and hours and hours of practice alone in my bedroom. I learned the chords and strummed away, and then I tried the fingerpicking, doing exactly as suggested here in this video ; thumb and then one finger then introducing the second finger. It didn't all go smoothly at first but I kept on and after a couple of days, suddenly to my amazement I was doing it without thinking. I too had been blown away by watching and listening to someone else fingerpicking, and now I was doing it too! So I can confirm to anyone watching who wants to learn to play, you can do it! It may take practice, but a little bit everyday will certainly reap rewards. Just enjoy your playing and have fun, and with lessons like this, it won't be too long before you're playing like a pro.

Such attention to detail, and taking the time to slow it down so us lesser players can see, hear, and understand. It gives us a chance to actually learn it. Your site is the best among all I've seen on KZread for learning and appreciating acoustic and electric guitar...bravo! It still feels good 39 years later when I adapt it to new songs. I still need to catch up with these guy's, when I started there was no on-screen instruction or internet, it was listen, listen listen, picking out each note.

Man, when I think that the only way to learn when I was a kid was to listen to the record, try it on my guitar, listen to the record, try it on my guitar, and repeat 20x and hope I got it right. If the song was super important, I spent the few bucks on the sheet music - which had the 'official' chords, melody, and lyrics. If I later found out I was wrong in my copying of the song, it was usually because the guitarist on the record was playing in a different position. KZread is a lifesaver. I no longer spend hours trying to sound like the record. Usually, one guitarist has the song nailed. I copy him. It saves me tons of exploration. Hooray for technology! Now, if they could only write and play better songs I could listen to the radio again.
