On allies - as/when the new CoS is formally released a cheap dwarf hero for the multi-weight-on-objectives ability has potentially good utility? Same idea as bringing You Messin in an elite destruction team. You could drop Lorai for that+blessing or drop her and Hendrick to fit in the dwarf and a c180pt ally of choice (paladin prime?)

It's a interesting warband. Like, Rostus is just daft, point for point he's probably the best single model in the game, if he could be allied he'd be an auto-pick for so many warbands. But it doesn't really matter, since he can't be allied and the Blacktalons are so inflexible, the individual model cost doesn't really come up. Except for allying, and then it's pretty funny because his low cost suddenly seems almost like a curse, since there's nothing else you can possibly take that's as good for the same points, so it's almost like a tease I wonder about allying in some really cheap models- a couple of castellite hosts maybe? Ditch Lorai and gain some model count.

Yeah their self contained nature makes it more difficult for them to get allies in. I’d love to see people experiment and try and expand the model count in interest ways.

Great overview! I’m excited about the Blacktalons, adding Calthia might be too dice hungry with the ranged elite. The questor soulsworn seems like a great ally choice and can help neave and rostus a lot by letting them attack attack as much as possible for a double. Can’t wait to get these painted up and on the table!

Thanks! I agree that Calthia is probably a bit too point and resource intensive - but she’s good enough to be worth a mention regardless. The Relictor is a really solid piece though, and is such a strong replacement for Lorai. Shores up the Warband nicely without costing an arm and a leg in dice. I’m looking forward to receiving them and painting them myself. In the meantime, I’ll proxy them on TTS haha

Do you consider making videos for newbies on how to start a band from the Underworld warbands? Warcry picked my interest and I was hopping to use bands I already have to play some full scale games. I watched some videos but they focus on how to do it optimally and not how connecting works or some example combinations.

I can absolutely give it a go. Underworlds Warbands, providing they have rules in Warcry, are called Bladeborn and have certain restrictions that can be a bit awkward to grasp for new players. I’ll see what I can do and get a video on the subject put together ASAP

So thinking about taking the akhleian king with these guys or the saviors just cause he's awesome

Go for it! I love the Akhelian King and run him in all kinds of lists. My concern is how low the model count would be in a Blacktalons list!

@@wargamesontoast yeah I just got one at a discount of 35 at my shop cause he's been on the shelf for a long while and I love the model. I have the black talons in a box unopened but a part of me wonders if I should try and trade it for the new saviors box and ally the king in there cause I just want an excuse to play the king in stuff I already have. Only order stuff I have is the storm vault models so the 2 underworlds bands and black talons. Plus some seraphon.
