This was useful to get my Quest 3 up and running with my PC. Going to play Asgard's Wrath and then Half-Life Alyx. I never did PCVR with my older Quest 2, so will see how it goes. Thanks!

Not used my Index for about 3 weeks now. Quest 3 is now my daily driver. Air link over my regular wifi is perfectly adequate. (my router is only 2m away). Some things do work better through Virtual Desktop, though. Only downside is battery life. On it's own, it will only last 1.5 hours at best at full settings. Most of the time, I will run it with a 25000mah 30W battery in my back pocket with a magsafe cable. Keeps it charged up, but it will drop 1% every 10 minutes or so. But it still enough to go for hours at a time. Charge level was still at 91% after an hour of Gorn. Still on my original controller batteries as well. Not sure what sorcery they used to make them last as long as they do. Index controllers batteries would have depleted about 15 times over.

Is there no way to play without air link though? The Meta 3 has 128 or 512 Gigs of storage, I would have thought most games should be portable straight in there so you don't have to rely on any air link.

yeah, I try this on my brother quest 2, BUT! if you have bad router the feeling from the game can not be the best

I am selling my Valve index for this, the fact that this is basically a plug and play system for VR games both on the quest and steam vr is awesome. The Valve Index is just requires too many items just to play VR.

This is for the people at the lower end of the pc scale, airlink for me runs laggy and horrible, 3600x and entry level 4060. I bought virtual desktop and it runs amazing. Works fine wired in. I think airlink uses tbe gpu much harder so for anyone having trouble with pcvr buying virtual desktop could be the answer for you as well.

What’s your internet like? I heard it needs wifi 6 and a good router to work well. Mine gets here in a few days and I have a wifi 6 high end gaming router, 4070ti and 11700k, and hoping it’ll perform well. Otherwise I’ll just buy VD lol

I wish one day there would be a app that in mixed reality you have loads of different dj lighting and obviously a light controller you can place the lights anywhere in your living room once your vr set has scanned the room then just slap your headphones on with a bit of techno a few stellers down your neck and good to go. ..your very own rave. I mean a couple moving head lights some strobes a laser some wash lights all in mixed vr...........how lovely lol.

Thanks for video, very helpful, i have for now a rift s and i'm about to buy the quest 3, but i have a lot of games on my pc for vr in meta (oculus) and with steam. Now my question if i'm using the usb link cable to have a better connection, does it keep the quest 3 battery high or maybe charging it when it's connect to my computer with the link cable, to be able to play for more than one hour and half?

When you connect the headset with a link cable it does start charging yes, I don't play vr for long enough to know if it ever goes dead but If I start playing at 100% then it's still at 100% charge after playing

It's there any way to fix the stuttering issue and the controller performances?

What quality of router do I need? I think mine is Wi-fi 5, and everywhere I've seen talks only of Wi-fi 6 and 6e.

i did evevrything up to getting and downloading the firmware, i ddownload but then it says cant connect, it looks like we cant reach the oculus server, please check your connection

in 3:17, there is no computer there, even though both the computer and headset are conected to the same wifi, is the ethernet cable necesary for airlink to function?

So I already bought fnaf vr 1 and beat saber on the non air link meta store, is there any way that I can redownload it on the air link without having to repay and transfer the data?

Hello. Since 3 weeks, i couldn't use oculus software, 3 white points appear on my headvr. I just buy an airlink cable same issue. I did to uninstall oculus software via safety windows parameters but not fix. What's going on, have you an explaination?. Thank you.

i have a quest on rental, i can use virtual desktop on my pc very easily as its installed on the rented headset and that application works fine, i have log in details for oculus app for pc to use too. im having trouble with the airlink finding my pc within the oculus app though, any thoughts people? can i just go to steam vr through virtual desktop and do it this way

Hope it returns for the new Steam Link feature but for now you will have to use Meta's Air Link page for reference.

I can't connect the OC3 to the PC via air link. it does not reach the stage where the six-digit code appears. The time on the video is 3:21. A pop-up window appears here and asks you to restart the headset or restart the application in the Beta settings. at the same time, everything works when connected via cable. Help me, what should I do?

I have a really high-end computer yet airlink takes up 40% GPU usage on idle, however, VRD on the other hand not only uses up 18% on desktop but also has crystal clear visuals, especially when using the HEVC codec. My set arrived about 2 weeks ago and although it's amazing, I'm waiting for my M3 Pro to arrive so I can get back into true VR with the addition of no cable problems. I had a RiftS prior but over my 400+ hours sunk into steamVR with it, stressing myself out not to step on or get twirled up in the cable every time I played, tethered VR just really isn't worth it in the slightest. You could offer me a bigscreen beyond with all valve peripherals but I would still prefer the true wireless Q3 over it.

thanks, i have a quest on rental and virtual desktop is installed already so just needed the stream app off website for my laptop. my laptop isnt great but i wanted a chance to play around with virtual desktop. im having trouble with airlink finding my pc but virtual desktop works fine

5:32 Audio Issues This usually happens when you switch from Virtual Desktop to Oculus

The issue is when I connect the ethernet, then my Quest 3 headset doesn't pick up my Wifi which prevents me from being connected to Quest Air Link. I tried using the D-Link Air Bridge & it works except now I cannot connect to Steam VR. When I I tried sharing in Network settings, etc and it does not work.

What is your video card?

Does anyone have or have had an issue where you click launch in the Airlink menu in the Quest 3 but then three loading balls appear and just stay there? It just loads and loads but nothing ever appears for me. I’ve tried so many troubleshooting methods and talked to meta support but still no luck. And I’m pretty confident that my hardware is good enough to run airlink/pcvr, but it still doesn’t.

Steam VR performance test is no longer available. Update on a replacement to check?

I know this is for air link but, when I use a link cable it says usb 3 connection recommend, I can’t find a fix

No mention of oculus debug tool. Personally I found without making changes in Oculus debug tool I got many artefacts and a pretty poor video quality.

That’s because the games on your Quest are standalone and the ones on desktop are PC titles. Its like the difference between PS5 and Xbox.

I live in a big house where my room is somewhat far away from my router and I game on a gaming laptop. Is it even possible for me to have a decent PCVR experience when I don't have access to ethernet and I'm often on a mesh wifi network?

The solution in your case is to simply buy an inexpensive ($50-80) wigi6 router and connect it with ethernet cable to your PC. There's lots of info on this if you google using an external router with meta quest headsets. You will need to learn how to properly setup your router btw. Otherwise, just use a decent usb3 Link cable. This is usually the simplest way to start off with, and will always give you the best overall PCVR results imho.

@@ScizorCraft Only if you NEED internet access (like maybe multi-player). Otherwise you may be able to wire the external router to your main router and/or use windows network sharing options. Up to you to properly research all this mate.

@@rangerkayla8824 Ya, I have the best recommended home router/wifi setup; Ethernet wired to my PC with dedicated 5Ghz/80mhz wifi channel (ch36 in my case) close by and am the only 5Ghz device. Rest are booted to 2.4 and I disable band steering. All I'm pointing out is that external wifi6 routers are viable/proven options to consider. For more details, users need to do a bit of googling and searching Reddit quest wiki's.

i really want to buy a Q3 but i need to buy so many other things like wifi6e router and pcie antennas those two things alone are $200. then i have to buy Quest3 charge dock because i don't want to waste time with batteries that aren't reusable. plus a better headstrap. this whole setup would cost me $1100 ish that's insane.. that's how much i paid for my index almost 5 years ago. facebook really messed up with the pricing.
