And for that, you get pinned.
My favorite part was with the Ghost of Garcia blessing your solos 😂
Please keep making these videos they are by far the most digestible and understandable for learning dead tunes. Thank you man! ❤️

It looks like I will be making these videos for the rest of my life. Haha. I really appreciate the kind words and support, homie.
First time visitor to your channel and thrilled that I found it. As a rhythm focused player, I'm always struggling to find high quality pieces focused on laying down the rhythm track. I've played this song for years, but now realize that I was pretending to play it. Thanks for showing me the light. Great work, great fun. Thank You!
Honestly, thank you so much for sharing how to play the amazing songs! Learning to play dead songs and solo over the changes has made me such a better player in recent months thanks again dude
One minute in, have to give it a thumbs up 😊 these video’s are pure gold my man. Hope you are doing well ❤
This is the one I've been waiting for! You do a great job!
This filled in quite a few gaps I had in playing this song. Thanks!
You are my kind of freak. Thanks for the hilarious and effective instructional vid. Looking forward to learning more tunes with you my dude!
I think i will be able to learn this now, thanks from the bottom of my heart, absolutely hilarious and great teachings skills man.
Great stuff man. Love your work and it's been giving me new fire to learn a lot more GD songs like EOTW which are a blast to play. For the last week I've literally rolled out of bed, picked up my guitar and started jamming this and become 100% awake and in a great mood. Thanks!!

Hell yeah, homie! That’s awesome! If you keep learning them, I’ll keep making them.
Still a massive W of a person. Had to come back for that intro!
Just thought of another tune I'd like to learn that's got a bunch of those little filler runs that, well, I'm thinking, you could teach us? Stagger Lee! Love your lessons, man. Keep em' coming!
The intro...lol awesome bro! Thanks for the upload Dave man!
I love those little licks between the chords and that walk-up to the c# chord when singing "all burst.." Must try this tonight.

Those little nuances are what makes this music so much fun to play.
I don't play a musical instrument and I still enjoy watching these videos. I love to see how these beautiful songs are performed. Just really cool to watch. Thank you for the videos!!

Thanks for watching and being part of the family!
Many thanks for this lesson Davvy. Very helpful for me to approach EToH as admittedly I was a little intimidated to dive into it before but not anymore thanks mate!
this is awesome! I love your videos bro thank you so much stay grateful
This is terrific thank you.
Toby, I really like your goofy, yet clear and understandable approach to teaching how to play songs on guitar. And even songs that I know and have been playing for awhile, there is often some little new tidbit I learn. Thanks for doing what you do. If you’re ever in Telluride…
Love you! Your videos are amazing.
Nice job! Thank you 😎
Love it! So happy I stumbled on your channel

I’m happy you stumbled over here too!
This was amazing! I’ve been trying to find the correct chords for the intro and this definitely sounds most like it! Amazing noodling and phrasing man. Anyone wondering about the solo, I like to think of the first set of chords as your E major scale and the second set of chords as B Dorian (or A Major to keep it simple). If you can switch a half step To the other scale as the chords change it sounds super cool and dramatic 👀

Agreed on the solo - I think he's jamming between E and A keys. But the intro - that's it! I've been trying to figure it out, thanks for pointing out the alt-Emaj7 chord, I needed that. Thank you.
You are a great musician & add the singing your better than good. The only notes i cant figure is when you play A at the end of the 1st verse where you hit 2 accent notes before going into the final EAE 1st verse. Just discovered your huge library what a gold mine, Super thankful!!
Well done. Learned some new shiz today. Will hit you up on Venmo... again.

Thanks for being part of the fam, and for the donations. They keep the lights on
I'm here mostly for that 2nd chord - it is Amaj7, eh. Your rhythm chops are great, love the Hendrix-isms. Great tune.
when south park jerry popped out the cut for the 2nd jam i started rolling bro🤣 superb editing and tutorial homie
Sativa + a guitar + your lesson video = a fucking great time
Dude ....been playing the intro chords except the first Emaj7 wrong for 30 years lol....thank you!
Mate bro my man dawg this is so kind. Life is good with you in it helping to spread some love. I'm a million miles away from the fambam living where I am now and this makes me feel it. Super cool vids and lessons thanks mate. Keep them coming it would be good to maybe get a chord chart you use or reference to one online for some of the funkier chords. Cheers.

Happy you’re part of the family, homie! Best thing I can tell you is to look up a chord inversion chart.
Remember, forget - got it man that’s great life advice too Ty much!
Thank you for the video. Funny af in spots.
Nailed it, dude. There's a bunch of other hacks trying to "teach" Eyes on YT
Great job, your lessons are always pretty nice 😘

Echt gut - really good !! Thanx!
Sheeeeeeeeit, the inlay on the first fret is playing games with the mind. I keep trying to play up a whole step, I’m like how the hell is he playing an A on 7,8,9th frets. Then I realized, you’re not playing that high. Premium content brother!!!! I’ll start blasting your channel to dead head gitfiddle players online, you deserve the traffic!

Hey man, thanks for all the support! I’ll for sure start doing more solo work in the vids.
This really helped me out a lot, thanks! Also I really wanna know which version of eyes you used for the video I can’t find it
Sheesh.. Tall order. But hey thanks for the vigiados.. All time crowd killer and one of my favs! 🤤
These videos belong in the national archives. One thing that would be super helpful is going over the strumming pattern and the timing
OK dude, finally found you, you're the man, the job is yours... If you should decide to accept it. To make a video of one of the best, but sadly most ignored song by everybody from Tucson to Tucumcari. Yes, I know its not a Grateful Dead song but in a way it's by their nearest kin band, Little Feat, and the song is Juliette, from the Dixie Chicken album. How about it. Please?
Thanks Davvy, What would be awesome if you could put together what Wier is doing
thanks... fun times
Interesting enough the jam Section on the studio version changes from that apart to just a B minor seven on the first time around and on the second time around that add in that A major chord
Thanks so much for these videos they are amazing! I struggle to play the rhythm in the intro / get the strumming feel right. Any pointers?
Wont go near the *. but nice. Love the lessons.
Awesome.

Legend.
Really great stuff man that open A to the second Emaj7 takes a while to get but makes it sound so much better than just staying on the Emaj7... so when you solo over the Emaj7>Bm>A do you focus on hitting the D (3rd) over the Bm and the C# over the A (3rd). Any other tricks to making that sound so good, I’ve been working on this for a while trying to figure out the solo. Thanks man!
@TobyDavvy

I know this may sound extremely rudimentary, but I just do my best to follow the chord progression. I try to either flow between or change up what I’m doing based on what chords are being played. It’s what Jerry did and how I try to look at it.
Davvy you're a savage, truly
Great video. Could one describe that second intro chord as an A major 7? Open A, the major 7th then the fifth then the third on top. I did jam on that riff for an inordinate period of time... Thank you.
Ok.. I laughed out loud @5:21 when Jerry floated in, and then again when his cartoon penis arms showed up
Great lesson, and some sweet solo action there -- good stuff. Even though the song doesn't have one, the lack of a bridge (and that sweet sweet bridge graphic) was somewhat upsetting, but I'll get over it.
@TobyDavvy

I mean, I can start throwing the bridge graphic in the background for you on songs that don’t have one, bro.

Fuck, this song is still beyond me. I can play the intro but the chorus and verses make my brain melt.
So ive decided your awesome. Love the dreads, awesome personality. Wondering how did you learn to play guitar? I play by ear so when you say “this makes it in E” I’m like uhhh ok haha thanks man
@TobyDavvy
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. I’m self taught. When I’m saying anything about theory, it’s very loose. Just what I’ve picked up. When I say something is in E, it just means that’s the key. And you can now move freely within the key of E to solo and whatnot. I do live solo lessons once a month and you can learn a bit more there if you want. I’ll be doing a live one this coming Thursday (11/11/2021) at noon EST.
This is excellent! For the solo/jam, what keys are you soloing in? It goes from E to something else…
phuuukn groovy bro
😂 Yeah! When your joints sound like rice crispiest time for a check up 😂
That first one made me cry
Lololol I died laughing at 5:14!!
when you let the song play for each part . . . What version of "Eyes" is that from?
FUNKIN GO NUTS

2 minutes in you haven't actually said anything about anything to do with the song
