Thanks! You are the best, from a doctor/writer who saw his first show in Lancaster PA 1971 and still loves this music as much as ever. And greatly appreciates your making it accessible.
Just stumbled onto this channel and you might be the only person I’ve ever enjoyed learning guitar from, rock on brother

Hey guys, I'm new to the channel. I'm learning guitar and singing in my 50's and short on time. I like the way you break the songs down and make it fun. Thank you.
WavvyDavvy! Freegin love this channel more than all these homies (not really but I like to think I do). It’s been a total game changer to watch your breakdown and the humor alone makes it incredibly fun. I’m even considering flying from Rado to you to catch a live performance that’s how much love I have for this channel. Question: what makes (if anything) you choose which song you will teach next? Is there a method to this madness or is it pulling a number from a straw hat? Keep this love flowing brother, we love it!!
This channel is the best, Davvy, i learn so much and i love the way you teach,,,,,Never stop....

I tend to use the C shape A on the 12 fret, hit the E with a bar on 9th do a lil Bobby sus hammer pull on the B string then I am right there with Jer’s chromatic move on the D string to the C#min on the 11th fret. But I am lazy and like every thing close.

Great minds think alike! And the song is called "Send Me on My Way" by Rusted Root. It was featured in the movie Matilda. haha
This guy is like the Nick Saban of Dead songs
Thank you this is very helpful man, and the song is fantastic ! Could you give some advice on how to solo over the chords ? It would make the lesson even richer :)
@TobyDavvy
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for joining the fam! And yeah, you can lead in pentatonic and mixo basically in C#m, but try to hit the chord changes while you’re soloing. In my more recent lessons I’ve been putting a little solo example at the end.
Great lessons. Long live the dead!
I subscribed before the playing started. “I was really hoping you were gonna drop that late 70s Bobby funk comping. And-- “Brown eyed women”= bourbon and ginger ale or some sort of old soda fountain stuff. Bring that solo lesson and I’ll boof 25 DM Teas

Can you do Brown Eyed Women - My Morning Jacket with Bob Weir. It’s dope AF
Great lesson with humor and advice. Well done. As for alcohol not being part of Grenadine. Given it was prohibition time, 1920 to 1933, I assume the reference was to the bottle which could have, and most certainly would have, contained spirits wether mixed with red Grenadine (perhaps originally pomegranate) or simply placing spirits into a bottle that could hide the contents of the liquid as it was generally not illegal to consume liquor but it was illegal to produce, transport and sell.

I think the real inspiration for the song is that the people that would hang out back stage would dose things like grenadine with LSD. There is a scene in Festival Express where the train pulls up to a stop directly in front of a liquor store in the middle of nowhere in Canada. The musicians bought out everything in the store. There was even a promo giant bottle of Canadian Club that the owner didn't want to sell, but did anyway. They dosed it and put on this hand pump squirt thing. I think this is the source of "the bottle was dusty, but the liquor was clean". If you haven't watched Festival Express, I highly recommend it.
Dude what variations of the chords are you playing when your thumb is over the neck e.g. the C#m; B and A in the verses? Bar chords not sounding the same..
Just a thought for Flashbacks...Dazed and Confused. Really close to my high school experience, think y'all would dig it
I’m gonna love learning how to play dead songs from a true deadhead.

Grenadine isn't alcohol and nor are brown-eyed women but they both mix with it real well (is I think what Mr Hunter was getting at). Don't know about the dust. Love your channel though.
