I know I’m gonna get the best most detailed tutorial when I search up a song and it’s your channel
I've been playing lead guitar in bands my whole life (I'm 65 and still at it). This solo was tough because of the feel and timing. I want to THANK ANDY for posting these lessons. Made a hell of a difference in learning this solo.

Agree, you're skill to detect and teach nuances in such a pedagogic way - brilliant
Best guitar teacher on the net. Hands down
I have to agree... Best instruction on KZread bar none. I've seen a lot..and your teaching style is impeccable.
Now here is a great lesson for a very technical solo!!
I remember well when this lesson first came out. It was no later than 2015 and this was the most complex solo I had ever taken on note for note. I learned it fairly well, but over the years all the similar pentatonic runs started running together. I’m glad it’s still here to reference. I just worked it out again and this time it only took about an hour rather than days. When I look back on how difficult it was for me to learn this, I’m Simply amazed at how much I’ve improved over the last five or six years. Thanks Andy for all you’ve given. I’ve learned many songs on your channel and thanks to you and your free videos, I can fingerstyle on the acoustic like a beast

Man I’m in the exact same boat, started at 14 maybe 15 years old when this vid came out and I had only been playing a few months. Decided to revisit it and it took me about 30 minutes to get down pat. Andy is f*cin awesome and is the reason I’m such a good player now.

@@calebdavis1323 Andy is the only KZread guitar teacher I’ve ever sent a donation. I’ve learned so many songs from him “and they are so right” I started feeling like a thief lol. Another good teacher on here is Jeff McErlain.

@@drsmith4582 I feel the same way man, I try to send donations when I can. Because like you I feel like a thief watching these for free all these years.
Just what the man ordered. Straight to the point, THANKS
Absolutely the best KZread lessons. You actually show what's happening and explain it. I've had the TAB to this for ages and always tripped up on the 'fudge it' part. Thank you so much :-). So many use KZread lessons to wank off about how good they can play the guitar, but you TRY to stay faceless (black on black) and actually slow shit down instead of showing off every chance you can get. I send to you a virtual handshake Sir.. :-)

he sounds so happy when he talks about how cool the licks are:)))
Man I have decided you are the best guitar player I have seen. Your execution, and timing is perfect. Your vibrato is wicked. Great job man. I just keep coming back to perfect my playing by watching you. Its not easy!
I'm a beginner and i can play it now ! every evening after work, lick by lick, 50% speed, then 75, then 100 %. I need to improve a lot of things now, but i can enjoy it still. Thank you, you are a great player and a great teacher (even with my bad english) !
Im so jealous of the fact that you can literally sound like whoever you want. That is as much of a talent to me as being able to actually play whatever you want lol. You really do have the best videos please keep them coming please sir.
This is a rad solo well well well well done. You play it very close to how I do and think he plays it as well. The live version pulse is my favorite.
Absolutely the best lesson I have ever watched on this solo. Amazing work. Thanks for putting this together!

+mike5058 Thanks for watching Mike.
Great job on both the 1st and 2nd solo’s, I really learned a lot!
Wow...I have been waiting for this lesson since the Wall came out in 1980! Greatest solo ever, even after all these years. Gilmour is a genius. You are a great teacher by the way.
One of the best tutorial video that I've encountered. Thank you
I love all your stuff - so great
Most of it has already been written... impressive work! The way you go back to explain every lick makes it very easy to follow. An extra plus for sticking to what Gilmour actually plays instead of doing your own version. I think that when people search "how to play ...." on youtube they really want to play like the original, at least I do. Thanks for the video! Cheers!
finally - i was waiting for this one - your an amazing teacher so i know ill be able to play it right now - thanks bud -cheers
Great teacher mate
wow, dude you are now my favorite KZread teacher Incredible Job
Thank you, thank you thank you!
You're absolutely right.. The key to performing this solo is the timing... being in the "pocket". And it's not really an easy thing to get right the first so many number of times. This timing issue really does make me appreciate Gilmour's talent, even more, as I work through this.
FANTASTIC! best lesson on this solo ever! you make the best lessons, and lessons for songs I actually like!

That is by far the best les paul version of that solo ever..Your vibrato was on point my friend.
I had most of it close, but you nailed the pieces I was missing as well as your nuanced playing. Outstanding! Thank you.
I have been playing bass for 38 years just getting into some guitar now, better late than never! Great lesson, thank you for taking the time to break it down!
This video helped me understand so much more about the timing of this solo that I was having such a hard time working out on my own. Thanks a lot, you're such a good player... keep em coming :D
Well done. I've been struggling with this one for a while. The hard part for me is mentally remembering how it goes. If I can't hear it in my head, I sure can't play it on guitar. I guess that gets better with time. Ear training! Simpler ones like the first solo, I have no problems with. Thanks for posting. I will get it better and better in time. Great song and licks!

+autocrow You hit the nail on the head their bud! It's ALL about getting it in your head. I know for me, once I do get it in my head, playing it is easy...well, sorta! cheers
Great lesson, thanks for outlining the pentatonic positions at the start to avoid wasting time on naming all the frets, also very accurate, thank u so much!!
Its taking me literally ages, but thanks to this wondrous man and his mystical floating hands im slowly getting there to mastering this fucking saga of a solo, all i can say is thank you...
My friend, this lesson is amazing, you're a true guitar fan, so grateful I discovered your channel. Thank you for what you do, keep at it!
This is very good and accurate. I’ve been inspired to start learning some solos again because of this channel. Thank you
Absolutely excellent lesson man! Now I could impress all my friends by playing this fantastic solo!haha thanks man.
I have played guitar probably about 30-40 hours in total; and even though there are other lessons that break it down a bit more, I've pretty much learned this solo using this lesson. Thank you, you're an awesome guitar player!
You are the best on here man. I have learned so much about technique just by watching you, and so have my kids. I read your equipment page. Great stuff. Thanks for all you do.
The. ABSOLUTE best instruction available. I will toss you $$ . everyone that watches should!
Love your teaching style. Unfortunately I am snoozing during most other tutorials, thus yours is refreshing! Thank You!!
Best guitar teacher on KZread.
You know exactly how a lesson should be paced. Great stuff!
Best guy on KZread. I used to learn everything by ear but now I come to you saves me a lot of time! You are appreciated my friend! You 🤘 rock!

Thank you very much. This is really the best tutorial of this great song on youtube. I finally got it and it sounds so great when it matches exactly the original
You’ve got fantastic vibrato. I’m envious.
There are so many lessons of this great solo on the tube, none of them are accurate. what make this a hard solo to learn is similar passages with slight difference that give so much character to this solo as it is called the greatest solo ever. I have tried so many time to play this solo correctly and failed, but You and your way of teaching and attention to minor details finally breaks the secret . Many thanks for posting, your are the greatest.

+transformer889 Thanks for taking the time to leave such a nice comment bro! I appreciate it. cheers
This lesson is really valuable and helpful. I've been playing and jamming this solo for years now and thanks to you I finally managed to play it accurately in the Gilmour way. Although I know he used to play the second solo on his Les Paul (like on the In Concert tape), I prefer to play it with my beloved Strat where I can use the whammy bar and send those high siren notes straight into the orbit. That's just so much fun. Focussing on the way Gilmour uses the whammy bar could easily fill another 20 minute tutorial. Thank you, mate!
excellent lesson highlighting all the nuances
Man u are aweaome teacher !! You helpme alot of to finish this solo ! Thankk u!!
Dude I don't know what to say except thank you you are absolutely in my opinion the best guitar teacher on KZread you're playing is pot on brother I enjoy watching them sounds great thank you man you are the man
Thanks so much for all your lessons. They are always accurately played and easily understood. I appreciate that you always capture all of the little details of various techniques that make such a big difference, and make me play everything better!! Glad to hear that you are on the mend!!! I’m sure everyone who follows your lessons are sending you positive thoughts. Best regards
This is a great lesson mate, works very well for me and really helped
great to learn from as you go straight to it..no long drawn out talking.
A lot of people can play well. Not many can teach well too. Thanks!
In another lesson, you mentioned you are always trying to "work on" your vibrato...that makes me feel even worse, because the lightning quick vibrato licks (like in the very first licks in the solo) are just crazy good. Haven't heard anyone even close, and this ain't exactly the easiest solo to get the feel and timing right---I watched parts of this over and over, seems simple enough, but it doesn't even sound close to what you are doing:)----but that is the hallmark of a killer player, they have those small nuances that makes such a huge difference, and very few players have that ability of touch/feel/timing. You are an amazing player and the best IMO when it comes to these tutorials, really like the way you play each lick several times building up in speed and not talking over everything while you're teaching. I've donated, really appreciate you posting these amazing lessons.
Great playing! Very helpful!
Great Ear!! I've heard this solo 'interpreted' a thousand different ways. but you seem to be particularly in synch with the 'Gilmour Groove'! Hats Off, Sir!
Thats Just excellent. Excellent skills and wonderful teaching...
Thank you Sir.. It helped me a lot.. gonna learn my dream solo soon..
No words to say, very very helpfull !!!
Amazing job sir…
very good, excellent, ideal for my learning, thank you
another nice lesson...thank you !!!
Superb!! Thank you !!
Congratulations from Brazil! Great job and lesson.
I've just learnt it with another KZread and now I will review and enhance my skills with your video cos it's far better 👉👍🤘
Awesome instruction.
I am a new guitar player and I had no experience with this instrument before at all. I decided to begin learning with watching various lessons of people on KZread but yet I managed to do it properly only through your videos. I can play the first solo now without any problems and working on the 2nd one now. I think that you are the best teacher with a very nice and proper explanations. I wanted to donate your channel but unfortunately PayPal is banned in my country so I cannot. I wish you a good day and request some nice lessons on Savatage or Orphaned Land :)
Thanks to your great tutorial I may find the way to come out of it... :D
I love the color of that les paul..Good lesson thanks
great lessons - your my new go to guy :) - liked and suscribed
Great lesson thanks
Awesome playing
Excellent!
This is the best lesson ever! Brilliant listening and teaching nuances for the best solo ever written. Much appreciate and much fun. Would it be possible for you to add the backing track in your store?
Iive only been learning 14 monthslate learner too 46 now but trying quite a few floyd tunes, supose it helps there my fav band keeps me intrested in learning there great for getting the fingers moving
awesome lesson !
Awesome!
Nice Strat ;)
Most accurate I've ever saw played! Jeso!! That sound how do u get that,ur playing skills are incredible wow would u recommend playing this with a click mate
You are amazing, for real. Only thing - 6:09 what you point out there is not how you play in the performance... you actually do a pull, which is kind of confusing but I guess they both works and you just play around as you feel like
Great teaching
Thank you so much, great lesson! Now I just need to get my speed up a bit.
AWEsome! Thank you ....
Nice, nice, nice. What a KZread guitar lesson should be.
I dig the way he says vibrato 👍🏻
Been with you for years and it seems like you'd be the guy to show us Wheel in The Sky solo the correct way. How about it?
Wow, amazing difference delay and reverb makes. You can take the harder pents a little slower and it sounds tasty
I dig this guy, I learned the lead to Hotel California before they took his video down. I have The EaglesTab Book but it still took about 2 months, I must've watched that video 700 times, lol
Awesome, awesome KZread channel. While I have only been playing for about 18 months to date, I feel like your videos have advanced my playing and especially my desire to play, exponentially. I especially like the performance sections. You've become one of my favorite guitarists. Except I can only refer to you as "this guy on youtube..." :)
to fast for me to learn but i can do it now...Thanks...Good Performance.
Hands down the best tutorials, but I wish I could buy you a Strat.

This is an awesome lesson. A few years back I was not able to play that fast (descending part) and got discouraged because I just wasn't there. Now I am finally able to revise the #1 solo of all time and get all the little nuances right thanks to you Sir! I too love the descending part but the first lick is my all time favorite. I didn't have a guitar in my hands for many months now so I didn't even realize that my fingers were almost bleeding. I knew it would happen but it was so fun to play that I couldn't stop. I need to wait for a week or so to heal and I can't wait to go through the entire lesson. Thanks a million. I loved you passion when you talked about the descending licks, I too have a big smile when I hear/play it. All the best!! P.S. - At 14:34 and also during previous descending parts, David Gilmour has also a rather unusual tendency (at least for him) to play the ending while resting his palm on the bridge (at least this is what I think) and kind of make the last notes (on A and low E) sound more powerful if you will. It does remind me of metal (for the lack of better words), if that makes any sense. I am unsure how to call it tbh. Does anyone know what I mean and what is the professional name for that technique?

I have been playing for many, many years, and cannot do this. I am amazed that anyone can, to be honest. Good for you. The timing is impossible.
Can you make a vid of the acoustic part? The rhythm? Also, can you make a vid of 'Hey you'? Thanks for the vids!
Omg yes I did get something out of it!
Sir... How long did it take you to learn this amazing solo ?
