Let's be honest, this is the best quick guide on battleships ever made. I don't think anyone has ever managed to show battleship guides in the same fashion as Wargaming did here, cuz they did it as simple and relatively easy to understand as possible. That said, there are some other people who makes good battleship guides as well. The camera shots are a totally different thing though, keep in mind.

funny how dispersion works now...no matter the distance a full salvo always becomes a shotgun dispersion with one or two lucky hits for minimal damage unless there's a premium captain on the helm that has dispersion penalty reduction...

10% of BB experience is shown in this video 90% of BB experience is just being burnt and farmed by everyone

Good video guys, little late for a 7 years old game, but nevertheless helpful to new players (and lots of veterans I fear). Keep going guys

Please improve the default settings. New players remain trash at the game because the intel that the game displays is nonexistent. Press + + + to increase mini map size. Click the cog wheel above the minimap -> Enable ship names -> Enable last knows position -> Enable concealment ranges. Settings -> Alternative interface -> Full. These setting are so important to your decision making, no matter your ship class. Im going to post this on every of you "how to" videos.

Imho ship names on minimap should be default , the size should be on medium, not the smallest one, same with concealment ranges.

Very good video. I would suggest tier 6 vessals to be used while discussing the features since most viewers looking for help have only grind ships to this tier before willing to get gud. Tier X is only a dream at this point.

If your KMS Bismarck & Tirpitz, you have good radar and pretty good AA, your torpedo protection is one of the best, and with your speed and guns speed you can act as a good line breaker, but stick with cruisers, and destroyers, submarines, KMS Scharnhorst & Gneisenau, you have good guns, speed and radar, you have cruiser-like speed and can scout for your team but don't venture alone, MN Richelieu, Jean Bart & Dunkerque, you have a lot of guns, you can hit damn man times, but your AA is lacking stick with destroyers & cruisers that have covered, hit them hard and don't let up, USS North Carolina (BB-55), well balanced but works better with destroyers & cruisers as heavy hitters with good armor and speed but can double in as AA platforms, especially with the Atlanta class cruisers on you side Iowa class battleships, great speed and good gun range, your more akin to a cruiser than a battleship, and your AA can help out the team but watch out for torpedoes, carrier can be your friends but don't let them stay in 1 place, IJN Yamato & Musashi stick with the destroyers, light cruisers escorts & carriers and act as their bulwarks, don't head out solo, stick to the coasts, lets specialized AA destroyer and cruisers help you out, or carriers, avoid subs,

Roll out you battleship. Get spotted by cv or sub. Spend the whole game trying to not get killed by sub or cv. Realize that you have done little to help out your team because you were so busy dodging torps, dive bombers, skip bombers, and sonar pings. Then play ranked where there is just 6 vs 6 and a CV. Listen to your player base. Sooner or later the golden goose will be cooked.

the Bismarck is by far my favourite ship to use :)

Go in game - see submarine - die.

I never had problem against subs as BB, unless my team is dead and I'm surrounded

Good video for a broad look at the class been playing for 4 years and I can tell you a good majority of the player base should watch this video

How to play battleship: Well you dont, easy as that, unless players wanna be burn down alive in 5 - to minutes of the match. In the curret state of the game HE Spaming is broken, useless AA and annoying submarine as hell. Unless HE is nerfing, AA is getting better on BB, and as for the subs, what about increase the arming distance and spotting them to 1km - 1.8 km (like a normal torps from any ships), in that way ship have better time to dogde them

I'm on the Japanese Battleship line and when I shoot from any distance the shells don't go at all where I aim. They sometimes form a perfect X or V shape and miss the target by huge margins. I even pull up next to enemy ships, shoot them point blank and the shells still miss. This is getting ridiculous. All the shots made in the video have the shells go exactly as aimed.

BB‘s are cool, especially if you play a DD like shimakaze who just Throw 20 torps at a BB. And now Imagine having 4 DDs in the Enemy Team. Enjoy playing!!!

Why do you guys have subs in battles with ships with no defense against subs? it doesn't make any sense.

wow unexpectedly good video! who got fired and who's the hero that got hired? Frankly, bbs are probably the easiest to do a how-to video on. I wanna see how you guys will do cruisers :) Regardless, great job whoever is responsible for this video. Thank goodness finally some good stuff is coming out for new players and we wont have potato matches everywhere (hopefully)

Playing US BB today maxed out VII , but I am getting fed up with the game sometimes lasting 1 round fired. Its turned into a game of Torpedo's where in the majority of games you can hardly get a shot off before the subs DD and Cruisers even some BBs get salvos of Torps away, 60,000 ship go up in flames with one well placed salvo

The issue is that there is a lack of things you can do against subs and DDs, as a BB. you need your teammates to spot them for you and chip them down, but since a lot of people play subs and DDs carelessly, the rounds are often lost before you even reached max speed on your BB

BBs should go in groups (the more the better), be as far as possible from caps, hide behind islands because they are afraid of getting damage, espesially if they are targeted by enemy aviation - working tactics on the EU server

How to play battleships in Asia server ?

Wargaming pls make a separate mode with only the surface ships competing. No CVs No Subs just plain old ships shooting each other with guns and torps.

They should buff AA Or give the high tier/ Super BBs ASM launchers. Also make submarines detectable more easily and maybe add noisemakers to counfuse the torpedos

Welp buddy that's why u need a destroyer or best a light cruiser aka teammates around you cus a light cruiser can both get rid of the subs and shot down half the squadrons before they reach you

Can you make a new "How it works" for map spawning? I would like to know the WG game mechanics behind opening spawn selection before the battle starts. For example, why are ships map spawned are so close to other team mates?

How could I interact with each other when I see only square text coming out in the chat box, and more ovely I dont know the meaning of that?

I liked the video, but please, the music is far too loud and distracting. I actually had a difficult time hearing the narration because the music was so overwhelming. Please consider lowering the volume of the music next time so we can better understand what is being said.

I am new in this game , but i like it.

BB are the backbone of the fleet. Yeah especially broken cv dealing 20k bomb damage and sub with homing torp it become very unplayable in the game because your just a farm target even when moving. Same what happen in ww2, they are consider obsolete that why US navy and other country dont have bb anymore.

I mostly play battleships, and while carriers and submarines are annoying, they're not making BB's unplayable at all unless you're sitting in the back watching your team mates die. When you move up with your team mates, you have far less of a problem than when you're moving on your own.

I thought, this whole time, my purpose in a battleship was to congratulate the other team for installing the game with free XP and a +1 to their KD.

@@danh7411 you would be surprised. Jest install MM monitor to see during the battle (T6-7) people with 100-200 battles. There are plenty. But they play for a month at max and leave. Thousands of such accounts.

While many of the points are valid, and the video is presented quite well, it leaves out a great many details. German Battleships and other brawling bbs are extremely weak at the upper tiers as they are basically damage piñatas. Due to high tier subs, super ships, carriers, and overpowered destroyers BBs have to stay at range or be burned out in the first few mins.

Schlieffen is still good in ranked and brawl. Not saying there are no OP ships, but some ships are more suitable in random battles, while other ships fits more into competitive play

I think that before you tackle how to play specific classes of ships you should, perhaps, make some tutorials on terminology, tell people what they're seeing when they look at both their " in port " screens and their " in game " screens, let folks know what all the pop ups and alerts they're going to see mean. The video was fine, as far as it went, but people need to be spoon fed information in very small doses, let us not forget. Also, putting out a video on how to play battleships is all well and good...but it's not really going to teach anyone how to play that ship type unless you start getting into specifics of each ship, or ship line. Playing a New York and playing a Georgia are very different animals. Some things to think about in future videos. I do appreciate the effort nonetheless.

No one works together is one of biggest problems in the game . An people with mics are busy starting trouble then actually coordinating the fight . An when has a naval battle ever happened in Rock's ? It's a fun game . Not realistic at all tho .

Well what's worse than that of these jackass hackers. They're too chickenshit to play the game right, I literally had like 500 torpedo shot at me at one time and that ship didn't even show up on the game map but you could see him on the screen

Tbf they kind of did but with the wording "can penatrate from various hit angles". For a lot of players that haven't played ships for long or came from Tanks, overmatch might be an unfamiliar term. Hopefully if they keep this sort of video quality up they'll do a more detailed video later. I think they do have a deeper dive on penatration mechanics video already but it's from quite some time ago and a refresher wouldn't do any harm.

Why do they want to report people for unsportsmanlike conduct in random battle for playing the dd as the scout it is. a dd is useless if it doesn't engage or scout. I don't report people for playing the way they want to. I cant participate in a battle if I'm sitting behind a island or on the back line.

My favorite ship a cruiser is set up to be sitting behind a island. If I expose her to 3 rounds of BB I'm dead or clinging to life. My best games I am sitting behind a island sucking them in to my torps and my Captain set up with major AP shell enhancements.
