HOW TO PLAY BASSO CONTINUO: VIADANA’S TREATISE / If you want to learn how to play basso continuo, one of the most important things to learn is what’s in the basso continuo treatises. So today we’ll look at the very first basso continuo treatise: the preface to Lodovico da Viadana’s Cento concerti ecclesiastici (1602). This publication contains a bunch of early Baroque music from the beginning of the 17th century. Let’s explore the earliest of early basso continuo writings together!

Muito bom seus vídeos. Uma das primeiras obras que estudei na faculdade, sobre baixo continuo, foi o "tratado" do Viadana. O que acho mais intrigante, é o fato que as principais razões para criação dessa obra, foi da percepção do autor mediante a insatisfação dos cantores ao tipo de composição que dispunham naquele tempo, com poucas linhas melódicas, muitas pausas, interrupções e falta de compreensão do texto, justamente pela extravagancia do acompanhamento. Do Brasil, sigo acompanhando seu canal... Obrigado!!!
