How to play bass FAST
Музыка
In this lesson, I'm going to share a great exercise that will allow you to play fast bass lines.
You can use any scale or bass line to practice this. The important part is to be mindful of your plucking fingers and use them efficiently.
As always, see you in the shed!

I think even more important is knowing what notes to play. Lots of time beginners try improvising fast licks and it sounds sloppy because the notes are random or aren't well known yet.

@@robert.m4676I don't think it's rubber but silk or something, and it's cause of a nerve/brain disorder (hands would shake or be unresponsive, but having the glove(s) on calms it down by "distracting" with more sensory input somehow)
Fast descending is easy. I struggle with fast ascending.

Yeah, you can't use this technique ascending. You could always use Van Halen 3 note per string hammer-ons going up!

I use this tip, but i cant play fast, but im also lazy and playing bass only 2 years
I learned this from one of your courses on SBL. Before I took that course I was always mixing raking and alternate plucking which made it super difficult to play consistently fast, but now that I've switched to raking and practiced, I've gotten so much faster. Thank you!
drag those fingers! I love the rake. go up with the index, and down with the thumb and now we're keeping up with the sweeping guitarist!
Those bass faces are worth watching!

jesse we need to slap bass
This reminds me of Frank Gambale vs. Joey Tafolla picking techniques - I used to get smooth runs on electric guitar using economy picking which requires a light responsive touch - and when I started flat picking steel string acoustic for swing music I discovered that alternate picking was more aggressive and direct and percussive, so I integrated both techniques.. On bass I'm actually working on exercises to break the habit of doing this very thing (to play more staccato with strict alternate plucking, learning about things that are hip), so it was a nice irony for me to see this video today :)
Learned it from 10,000 Days by TOOL, the riff before the jumpy pull-off one towards the end. It feels really satisfying when you play it tightly.
This is pretty awesome the way you show this.awesome teaching..😊
Scott how can you master fast triplets crossing strings? Do you have any exercise to improve on that?

This is fine for some players, but you can pick just as fast without a rake.
Yeah I rake all the time
I've done this just naturally from the beginning only difference is I do middle index middle instead.
Nice
There needs to be a video dedicated only to playing to chorus of right on time because sometimes I have it sometimes I don’t and I don’t know how to be consistent with it
AMAZING
I thought your hand was desaturated 💀
I naturally started doing this. It just made sense because my finger was landing on the next string anyways

Done. But with my left hand speed the usage of this is pretty limited.
Can i have ur glove hahah
Is this what the guitar players call “sweeping”?
Well, you should be doing that regardless. Really, to play fast, you have to run your scales. Over. And Over. And Over. And over again. And always practice slow at the beginning of each practice session and work your way up (even if it's a sharp incline in speed). I'm not telling you this, as you have to know this, but I'm just throwing it out there. I just feel like raking is natural and the real "key" is practicing scales until you lose your mind.
I would like to buy a bass, what things would I need to buy to make the bass sound like that?
Nice gloves.
Where can I buy those gloves
What about when going upward (downward) on the strings? I find doing the index plucking is easier with going downward (or upward) on the strings. So whats the trick there?
What about the ascending one
