I love how Pat Finnerty did a specific episode of why this song stinks and totally destroyed it, then Nick comes on SBL and makes it a listenable song. KZread is a wild place man.

Nick is a montser🔥🔥
Dear god, that's great!
sound like a synth
Youse guys, so cool. Love all your bass stuff! 1st bass is a Grabber, but eventually dumped the slider for EMG P-Bass pickups in the early 80's; heavenly, played it for years. 1988 bought a Kubicki x-Factor and played it thru the 90's.... This is where I finally get to my p-bass, nice but it too grew into EMG P-bass pickups - and sold it 'cause it sounded too much like the Kubicki. And for the "piece of resistance", got my first(!) Stingray 5 in the early 2000s and never looked back. Your "TV" show has given me some really cool stuff to try - I was already on the hunt for an anvelope! Thank you, for lettinme be mice elf!

I love how Scott checks if Zender is actually in the room with them when Ian says "We've got the original here" @7:01
Ok please do a video on the effects chain, this sounds great
Great tips very nice vid! I wanna thank U.
I believe Tim played bullet in the head with his thumb, index & middle fingers for that bassline. That’s how I play it & it sounds better to me. If you watch the official video I’m sure you see can him using the technique.
What a base line
Beautiful ❤
I'll take the cheap bass. That Fodera is epically fugly.
Very Nice.
I remember first hearing smells like teen spritit my mate had just got onto NIrvana as a recommendation by our mate and he come upto me in class and was like "DUUUUDEE CHECK THIS SHIT OUT" put his headphones on my head and i kid you not i went quiet for a whole min a good min too and then listened to the rest while head banging a little and took them off and we both just said to each other holy cow! thats amazing
Rewriting history, are we now?
Sooo funny 🤣🤣. That "NO" is perfect. Got my 1st bass 2 days ago. Ive joined t fold 🤙🍻
Idk if you guys will see this comment but im stuck between a fender mustang bass, a supro hunnington bass or an epiphone eb3 bass which short scale do you guys recommend
All are 10/10
Absolutely worst bass player and tone of all time is Fieldy. Korns bass just rattles kuthunks and psckass! Sucks as a musician
Wtf..
You guys used a Wal to play one of the few Tool songs that wasn’t recorded with a Wal…. 46 & 2 was recorded with a Stingray (although he has played it live for years with a Wal)
No such thing as an easy bassline, when everyone spends their lives perfecting time feel etc
Vox was the worst IMO.
Love the video Ian, really informative and even got me to switch from bounce off slapping to strike through slapping for that fuller slap sound! Though I thought I would just point out that at 5:14 for the tab of RHCP Higher Ground, I think after the 2 open Es and 2nd fret on the D, there was a missing 4th open E before the 3rd fret Es. I was wondering for a while why my riff sounded different from your riff, or anyone's for that matter, and I realised when I slowed the video down there seemed to be that one missing open E in the tab. Besides that, I really found this video really helpful, thank you so much!
Thanks for featuring my video! I knew my version wasn't the way Klaus played it, but I thought it was a reasonable facsimile. I'm glad Ian digs my '72 P-Bass 😎 BTW I included a link to the Klaus Voormann video in the description of my video. I could have saved you some time 😁
Califunkya
Greg Curbow basses were and still are THE BOMB. I'm with Scott on this one.
It's still lame.
What is bass 2, please?
That's an Oypla P bass!
I had them wrong haha.
I met Scott and his crew in Las Vegas. I should’ve sang for them, but they didn’t ask for that.
Bass faces !!!
Beautiful ❤
I think Ian nailed the challenge 🙌🙌
👍👍👍
Easy, it was recorded backwards ;)
Hotel California
can someone tell me who she is
Anastasia Pshokina!
Chris had some shoes to fill in with AC/DC, but he sounds great! Cliff Williams would be really proud. Chris knows all the bass fills and he has the same staccato sound that Cliff brought in the rhythm section. Chris knows what he's doing when he has a bass in his hands. Best wishes, Chris, and congrats!
Great video…would love to see you break down more of Justin, you do a great job!
I’m with Ian on this one! Those are really ugly basses!
I kinda love it. I’m definitely gonna try to find one or build my own. I love The shape, love The 24 frets and easy fret access.
It depends on the action and strings that youre using, I would think.
Michael League is the best bassist, composer ever!
Call it good branding, but I don’t think I’ll ever buy a non fender bass. I have an aerodyne jazz bass and I am in love with it!
Remember, the strings are tuned five frets apart. So it’s very useful to visualize the fretboard in five fret chunks.
Y'all should make Scott learn the bass solo at the end of Coffee Shop by RHCP. Beast of a solo!
