How to Plant Miscanthus Giganteus Ep 16 Revised

I revised this video I produced one earlier and I planted them with fertilizer and gel caps that hold 300 times their weight in water to keep the rhizomes moist. They need moisture but unlike other horticulture plants not all the time. Miscanthus Giganteus is used by deer hunters/hunting land managers to screen off areas and for security cover. Hope this video helps you a little. Please comment, give a like or dislike and share! Thank you

Plant them at 10" spacing. You will have your screen a little quicker

Spring time is best. They have been experimenting with fall planting but no results yet. As of right now they aren't even available in the winter. Anytimre late April through May.

Brett Rickard usually planted in spring. When still dormant. Have to check with the supplier for sure, but I'm sure suppliers are out of rhizomes by now anyway. My supplier is testing late fall planting. No answers yet

If you mean hecter acre? I have no idea....If its a field you want to plant, I would suggest every 18 inches by 18 inches. I do believe growers recommend 9 inch by 9 inch. Cost depends on suppliers.

They are all at a variety of heights from 3' to 9' due to soil conditions and rain fall. I will and have posted some pics on our facebook page. After talking with the grower and others who have planted this it's usually the 4th year that growth evens out. I will be fertilizing again this fall. i will be spraying some 24-d on weeds and next spring do the same thing. facebook.com/CompleteDeer/?ref=aymt_homepage_panel
