    I'm a writer not an expert on this, but actually, corn stalks are used for biofuels. And yes, you are right, there are characteristics of Miscanthus that scientists hope to use to improve corn and perhaps soybeans. If they can find the genes that make them cold hardy, for example, they may be able to introduce those genes into other crops and extend the growing season or the range where they can be grown.

    I suppose that this grass must be harvested or baled before they completely dry, before a stray ember lights it off, for a severe field fire.

    I'm a writer, not an expert on this subject. I think, however, the direct impact on wildlife is still unknown.There are some benefits to wildlife, for example the fact that Miscanthus requires less or no nitrogen fertilizers, so there will be less or no runoff into nearby waterways. But other impacts may be detrimental....
