I’m in my late 30’s and have known about the diva cup for two years but only started using it recently. OMG...so much more freedom! I’m mad I didn’t start using them earlier. Just give it a try, like she said there is a learning curve but once you get it in right oh man it’s wonderful. As for the public restroom thing you can dump the contents in the toilet and carry a few of those antiseptic hand towelettes or just use some tissue and wipe it a bit and pop it right back in. It’s not going to get stuck and scare the mess out of you like a tampon will. Do yourself a favor and just try and if you’re squeamish about blood the instructions are so clear that you are not going to make a mess. They even have KZread tutorials to help learn how to get it in comfortably.

Omg thank you. I’ve been thinking about all the chemicals in pads and tampons and it was making me uncomfortable. I wanted to try other alternatives but I didn’t know where to start and was a little skeptical about some. So the fact that you made this video makes me feel like for a second you were living in my head lol. Honestly thank you so much for explaining these alternatives and breaking them down. MA, is on the money with this info. I have personally used the Diva cup and Thinx underwear for the last 2 years and it makes my period soooo much easier to manage. I VERY SELDOM have leakage with my cup and when I do the Thinx panties have me covered. I have a heavy flow 2 out of 5 days and I change my cup every 8 hours on those days. The remaining 3 days I can change it every 12 hours. I keep a spray bottle with a peroxide/water mix in my bathroom so when I change it I rinse it with hot soapy water and a few spritzes of the peroxide to keep it disinfected, the same thing with my Thinx panties I rinse them and use peroxide before throwing them in the wash. I admit it was a bit of a learning curve at first but now I can change my cup in the same amount of time I used to spend changing a pad/tampon. I agree with MA, the Thinx panties do run on the small side for those of us with a lil extra bootay but I saw they go up to 3X. I think I will try the thong next. I saw Thinx added workout pants/shorts that absorb too. Periods are never fun but they shouldn't be a burden either.

McNezzeii So far, so good. I wash them and line dry. The directions say to not put them in the dryer because it decreases the effectiveness. I have a total of 5 pairs that I've had for 2 years. They are sturdy panties. I'm also only wearing them once a month so they don't get alot of wear & tear.

I'm 14 and your period seems a lot like mines. I've tried using a cup but I can only go 8 hours with it...but the problem is school is 10 hours long so I use pads as a backup, works great but I'm thinking about getting the thinxs but there so expensive and I'm obviously going to be needing more than one, so my question is does it smell after a couple of hours

I would like to try the Diva Cup now for a less pricey solution over time. I’ve also given the period panties the side eye for quite a while, but appreciated your review and will try them now! Its a game changer for sure. Allow yourself time to learn the product and how your body response to it. Once you get that down you won't use anything else. They cup comes with a cute small drawstring bag and I boil it prior to putting it in the bag for the next month and I boil it before I use it again. Probably not necessary.

Diva cups are the best things ever invented for females!! I got mine a few years ago as a gift but I was very skeptical about using it. One day I decided to use it during my cycle and I'm never going back to pads/tampons. For me its very convened because I get busy during the day so I get to dispose the liquid once a day since the cup can hold the liquid for like 12 hours.

So I have a question...well, two actually. Where I work, it's a stall-like bathroom setting. in using the Diva cup, how do you recommend rinsing the cup. I usually sit for hours at my job and this would be helpful, but I'd have to change it out. Secondly, do you think the cloth pads and the think panties would work together well? I usually have 2 heavy days where things travel when I'm sitting and I'd like to not have any clothing incidents when getting up. Thanks

Also, im glad that you made this video and mentioned experiences would be shared here. I now have an experience I would like to share. So I had my second son on July 2nd, 2017 via VBAC (vagina birth after cesaerean). I had lochia for 4.5 weeks, and in week 5, day 4 Post Partum, I had sex with my fiance for the first time. That in itself was amazing, except week 6 I had my first PP period. It didn't last 5 days like before, no. It lasted an entire 9 days. I went to the GYN for my 6 week check up (though it was week 7), and she said everything is good to go. Immediately started taking birth control that day. My option was the pill and despite my failures with it before I wanted to give it another try. I take them consistently now, every single day between 6:45am and 7:15am and never missed a day. But, ever since I've started taking them, I've been having my period every 2 weeks. Like I'll start week 2 pills and my period would start Friday and end Thursday, then I'll take week 3 pills and be ok, then once I get to the brown pills I get my period all over again. I've had 3 periods since mid August 2017 and I'm currently on one now, totalling 4. I'm on my last week of my month 2 pills and will be done on Friday. Do you think that my body is still getting used to it, or did something happen during birth with myself? Or is it that I'm using the wrong period products?

First thank you for sharing! I am not a doctor but it sounds like your hormones haven't gotten back to balance from birth. I take longer than 6 weeks. I would use another form of contraceptive until your body settles. BC are hormones so the BC sounds like it battling with you bodies attempt to get back normal. my two cents always talk with your doctor but that's what Im thinking.

I found with the DIva cup that even though I am 22 years old and have never had a baby, I still had to use size 2. With size 1, I just could not get it to work. I would insert it properly and it would still leak, and it was a consistent leak. I switched to size 2 and had absolutely no problems. Some leakage, obviously, as there is a learning curve like you said, but less leaking than when I used size 1.

This is very interesting... I have always noticed the menstrual cups at the pharmacy, but ignore them completely and head to the pad section as that is what I am accustomed to. I must admit that pads have never been the most ideal product for me as I sometimes get discomfort and worse: leakage. I go back to it every month because that is what I know... I am a bit nervous about shoving the menstrual cup "up there" lol and in terms of hygiene, how does that work? How long can you keep a menstrual cup for?

Teasha Stewart I know what you mean I’m 39, I felt the same way when I first found out about the cloth pads, but my mind quickly changed when I had some type of reaction to some regular pantyliners! At least I’m assuming that’s what it was b/c I started feeling itchy or something and was like What tha?!!! I immediately ordered some cloth liners and decided to try the cloth pads. Over time (it’s been about a year or two) it has grossed me out less and less. I honestly think it has helped that my cycle is lighter now with much less clotting than I used to have. I think the change is due to trying to eat better (I’m not vegan or vegetarian but I cut out red meat for months at a time, try to eat less fast food, more fruit, cut sodas recently, etc.). Sorry for writing a book 😊 but I just wanted to encourage you to consider it for your health b/c even things that touch our skin can cause irritation. Now my next step is trying one of these cups cuz I know tampons have a certain risk too. Peace

I just got the 4period, bc they were cheaper, 55 for 5 pair. So last night mother nature came and I was actually look I look forward to wearing mine. Sooo, I wore them over night, I wore a pair of shorts as well bc I was afraid of leakage. Well I'm very heavy the 1st 3 days. So.. They hold equivalent to 2 tampons worth of blood, I didn't change at all, I wanted to see how long I could go. I was shook.... So shook. These are a game changer. I love these panties.

Denise Nicole: ok. Here is an update. I spoke too soon. These seem to be good for light days. The 1st night I wore them, I did not leak, however during the day, I had to change them... I leaked. I was soo disappointed. I went through all five pairs within one hour. I decided.to actually order the thinxs panties, I got two for 35.00, (I had a 10.00 discount). That's what I get for going the cheap route. I'm hoping these thinxs work. They have a 60 day money back guarantee. Good luck

I heard about the cup and I’ve been hesitant on trying it. I heard that the chemicals in the pads and tampons encourage more bleeding and cramps. Some of my friends who switched over said it reduced all of that. Did you see a difference?

  • @MariaAntoinetteTV

    @MariaAntoinetteTV

Yes the chemicals do alter your cycle and cause heavier bleeding but cramps. I notice shorter cycles less drawn out. Two heavy days and three light no cramps!!! Hope you give it a try. just note give yourself grace and allow for a learning curve!

I wear the think undies as a back up on my heavy days with my diva cup. I can wear them for a full day on my lighter days closet to heavy days I change them three times on my light days twice. No order or discomfort.

The Diva Cup didn’t work for me, but I was determined to find a healthier option than mainstream pads. I eventually discovered the Femy cup and I looooove it. I hardly ever have a leak with it (as long as I insert it correctly). I’d love to try the period panties though.

Elycia Daniel Roberson Sure! The main issue I had was it leaking. The only time it didn’t leak was on the first and last day of my cycle which are really light. On the other days I had to wear a pad with it, and it would even get soaked (sorry if that’s tmi). I’ve since started using the FemmyCycle cup and I love it. It hardly ever leaks and I can’t really tell that I have it in.

In using the diva cups, please explain how do you rinse them when out in public? Do you bring a bottle of water into the stall with you! Are you changing it each and every time you urinate? Please help me to understand, frankly I have had it with my cycle all together.

For me, I can get through 12 hours with my cup without needing to change it (when I first started I couldn't, I could only get through like 4 ish hours but the more I used the cup, the lighter my period got) so I never have to worry about being in public when I take it out. Just change it in the morning and night when I'm at home. You don't need to take it out when you urinate because the cup is not in the way of the urethra. When my period was more heavy I would bring a second cup with me and just wrap the dirty one with toilet paper until I got home to clean it. If you don't want to invest in another cup and you have a heavy enough period to need to change it in public, a bottle of water, or a feminine wet wipe can work to get rid of the blood.

A girl friend of mine says she dumps the blood in the toilet and wipes it out with toilet tissue and reuses it, I tried that this month and it was totally fine! Never have to leave your stale. Also if you aren't on you heaviest flow you can wear it for a long time 12 hours...most likely youll be back at home by then.

Although she does a good job of explaining her period activities. I wish she (and everyone who does the same) would stop saying "no chemicals." As a Chemist and Educator almost everything that you can see, feel, taste, and smell is a chemical. It just that not all chemicals good/bad for human use. Chemistry tip for life. Enjoy.
