    This is definitely a more authentic take on faux locs compared to the silky and goddess locs that are all the rave. Using the marley hair helps minimize the line of demarcation. Honestly, without the slight color variation between the marley hair and faux locs (which is probably only more noticeable under bright lights) I would've thought you handwrapped these locs from root to tip. Another great video MA, thx for sharing your technique!

    nickyworth25 I agree the silky ones aren't my cup of tea and these are hand made so you know they are durable! I also agree that the hair I used to wrap appears darker under bright lights in persons looks like I'm growing my locs out and that's the freshly twisted part. I'm glad you liked the video! It was a fun one to do!

    I'm aware of that, I've had actual locs myself. And I didn't mean authentic in the sense of dull or dry. Even well manicured locs have frizz and fly aways. Goddess and silky locs are a beautiful style, but their texture just doesn't pass for actual locs is all I was saying.

    nickyworth25 that silky look does not last long. once theyre worn for a few says to a few weeks the friction creates a fluffier less shiny look! :)

    It's crazy a lot of people on here talking about only white people hair, but this matches my hair perfect and I'm clearly black.. most people are close minded and it's sad black ppl have all kinds of textures

  • @BlackStarrSoul

    @BlackStarrSoul

    7 жыл бұрын

    all about fame Black people don't have all kinds of textures. Our hair is curly, black, and grows out and slightly down. The average black person does not have straight hair, loose curls, light skin, and thin hair. By saying that black people come in "all kinds of textures," you are erasing blackness.

  • @KaylaSen

    @KaylaSen

    7 жыл бұрын

    Kodama What are you talking about? You're the one here who is pigeonholing black people based on hair type. Please go to Ethiopia Sudan Kenya the Caribbean and see the multitude of different hair types and skin colours. My fair skinned almost mix race looking sister has thick 4C and two black parents. I on the other hand have a "mix raced" father darker skin and 3C hair texture. Average white person doesn't have tan skin or red hair. Doesn't make them not white if they have those features. Heck there are black people born with blue mother fucking eyes you gonna tell them they can't be black now?

  • @BlackStarrSoul

    @BlackStarrSoul

    7 жыл бұрын

    Kay'la Sen Again, honey, black people don't have a multitude of hair types. We have 3c (maybe 3b) to 4c. Black people have *curly hair*. I don't care about your light-skinned sister--she has the hair of a black person, so she's black, and so does your damn father. And I *definitely* don't care about white people. Don't make comparisons between black people and white people. There are, like, 70 black people born in blue fucking eyes, you dumb shit. Does that make it the standard or the average? I hate black people like you. You can't accept a standard for black people because you're too insecure for us to have one. Are you scared you'll be excluded?

  • @KaylaSen

    @KaylaSen

    7 жыл бұрын

    Kodama So.. you've stated that Black people have hair types ranging from 3b to 4C which is 5 different hair type more specifically 5 different curl patterns this doesn't include elasticity, porosity, density etc etc which clearly varies from one black person to the next. Did I ever state that black people naturally have straight hair? No. I did not. Maybe argue against something I have stated rather than a straw man. Hey if you wanna get all up in arms about white people then you know keep that to your prejudice self. I was stating that black people have different hair and therefore their dreadlocks will matt up differently. Again... where did I make comparisons to white people? I said Caribbean Ethiopian and Sudanese... And again you've missed the point. Just because you just have average dry matted coily 4C hair doesn't mean that there is some very *not* average black person who does not. That does not make them any less black. You hate black people like me that celebrate how diverse we are as people and love us for that? You want to go from European standard to your version of black standard. We don't all have to be the same or appeal to some arbitrary standard or average. Light skin thin hair loose curl black people exist. Their hair can dread up this way. But hey you wanna make "blackness" some exclusive club with arbitrary beauty ideals to fit the label. Don't come crying when Rachel Dozel fits the bill but someone like myself or OP does not. Also "70 black people with blue eyes" so by your own admission these people are still black even though they don't fit some average.

  • @BlackStarrSoul

    @BlackStarrSoul

    7 жыл бұрын

    Kay'la Sen K, honey, you keep trying it, and it's pathetic. Hair will naturally come with micro-differences, but you know good and *damn* well that we are talking about curl pattern. No one is arguing against a strawman, sweetie. Girl, what? When did I say anything about locs? White people don't have locs, they have grinch fingers. You made comparisons when you mentioned the people who burn in the sun and grow rat hair from their heads. What do they have to do with black people, girl????? And East Africans (specifically Ethiopians, Eritreans, Somalians) are mixed with Arab, so _don't try it_. They're still black, but their hair is different for a reason. Dry matted coily hair? The self-hatred is real, honey! The average isn't matted hair, it's kinky and curly hair. Even your profile picture shows you with straight hair; I shouldn't be taking your opinion seriously. You actually *are* less black the looser your curls are. The epitome of blackness comes in curl patterns 4a-4c. I'm not faithful to the curl-typing system, but there are certain curl patterns that say "You're black." You're not celebrating diversity, you're shitting all over the place and being dishonest. How many black people have blue eyes??? Tell me. How many black people in real life have you seen with blue eyes? How many had light-brown eyes and were dark-skinned? Go ahead. European standards are bullshit, and here you go again bringing up rat-haired demons when I didn't even say anything about them. The standard isn't arbitrary. The average black person has dark-brown eyes, curly or kinky hair, brown to dark-brown skin, full lips, and a wide nose. It's a standard for a reason. The European standard would be looking like a minstrel show actor. You're wrong, and you're dumb. Step back. Define loose curl? Are we talking about 3c or fucking 3a or 2c? Anyone whose hair is looser than 3b is not black. I do want to make blackness an exclusive club, because I don't want dark-skinned black women to be replaced by "black women" with green eyes, 3a hair, and light skin. Rachel Dolezal has been exposed, and she's not black. You tried it....again. You can go now.

    How are people gonna say these locs would look better on a white person because the hair texture is straight lol? I bet none of you would tell a black woman her wig would look better on a white person because the hair texture was straight. If so many others can rock straight wigs she can rock straight textured locs like foh.

    They came loose about three weeks in. I ended up taking off the dread covers hiding the braid. Then after seven weeks in, the dread slipped down anywhere between 3” to 7”. Decided to do four dreads a day and use the braid method instead. Major time to unbraid so that’s why I can only manage four per day. In eight days, I’ll have them all done. I absolutely love the look. They are so much fun to play with and decorate. My favorite is Feathers. 🖤🖤

    Just out of curiosity. Will these keep your head cool? I have fine texture/medium density hair and I find myself chopping off my hair every summer or wanting an undercut and I really just want to grow it out. Having these at the nape area only would it keep it somewhat cooler having the spaces between? I want an alternative to getting an undercut/chopping off all my hair.

    This is an excellent solution for a tribal queen! it is very thrift savvy since you can re-install after deep cleaning.

    This is a great video, the technique (that I have seen) for faux locks with natural blonde hair is not the same, but I am going to try to incorporate your techniques into my next doo for some even more natural looking locks! Thank you for your hot tips!

    Great job, the best faux locs I've seen on YT. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Regarding the texture, it's not a big deal to me. I had 'real' locs for over a decade and my locs were soft, fluffy & koily because I have fine hair. Every black person has different hair texture, fine, thick, nappy, wavy, coarse, thin, etc.. so locs are no different, they are not all nappy or knotty, and not all to be taken care of the same way. Anyhow you did a great job installing these, though i'd skip the rubber bands, but awesome still. And kudos to the person that formed them, I'm sure that took him/her all day! Enjoy your day, take care sis ☀️

    I have to tell you how thankful I am for your videos. They are so helpful and informative. Do you mind elaborating on how braiding synthetic hair in with your natural hair protects the ends? Thank you in advance.
