    Excellent video, really very useful. You make the complex look easy. I think it will be your tutorial that I will use to complete my action figure projects. I am not a person who speaks your language, but the process shown is universal, so I hope it works as well as you. Greetings from the south of the world.

    Wow, wow, wow Beth! This video is incredible. I love how your brain works. I love Doc Martin boots as well, even though I have never owned a pair, maybe one day I will be able to afford some. I fell in love with some Doc Martin shoes in leopard skin print one time, but could not find any in my size. You are so clever to do this for Blythe dolls. Looking forward to seeing more videos with more boot ideas as well when you get your eyelets in from the mail. Great video as always.

    Beth, Can you sometime show us how to make feet/leg molds from the clay that you used? I have no idea how to do that process. Is it hard to do?

  • @BethRamsden

    That has been on my to-do list for some time actually, perhaps when I am next doing some shoemaking for Blythe I will include this ^_^

    I am in process of designing antique doll boots and found your general ideas very helpful even though the styles are quite different. I made two part putty mold of her feet. I’m thinking I might try to make polymer clay feet from the molds now that I already have plaster feet made from the molds. The polymer clay would likely hold up better than the plaster even though I plan to spray the plaster with polyurethane once fully dried. Thx for sharing your experiences.

    Thank you! Yes I made a different sized one for each Blythe body type, using Fimo/Sculpey/Polymer clay. I roughly rolled and pinched the clay into a foot shape, then used some calipers to compare the sizes of various parts of the foot/legs to the original, adding and removing clay until they were roughly equal to the originals. I baked them to harden them and that was that! They're very useful for making socks and things too, when you don't want the whole doll rolling about! Hope that helps :D

  • @BethRamsden

    @BethRamsden

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you! 😄 Yes you can certainly make shoes using leatherette, though I haven’t tried wet-moulding faux leather... If you’re using thinner faux material then it will have a bit of stretch for shaping the front with though. Hope that helps! 😊

    Hahaha no of course not! As you can see I don't have any fancy tools myself, and instead I make use of what I have (with the exception of the skiving knife, which I didn't end up using for these boots!) It's best to recycle-/re-use materials where possible, and using your imagination get some great results. I Hope you'll still give it a try ;)
