    Hi, thanks for sharing this amazing tips to tackle the CPA exam. I just started on my study using Roger CPA too. Btw, do you mind to provide more explanations regarding taking the test randomly? Does it mean, once you’ve watched all the lecture videos, you didn’t take the test per chapters but you generate the questions from all chapters? Thanks!

  • @sugarcpaus2091

    @sugarcpaus2091

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your comments and questions, and I apologize for my late reply due to traveling. Your understanding is correct. I didn't practice MCQ's and simulations by chapter. Rather I generated questions randomly from all chapters. By doing this, you can allocate your time based on the importance of the subject. If you go by chapters, you tend to spend more time on earlier chapters and less on later chapters, that's why I always did randomly.

  • @kaylamace7909
    @kaylamace7909 Жыл бұрын

    This video is so helpful. Thank you so much!! I have a bunch of questions! I'm a little confused regarding the MCQ process with UWorld Rogers. Do you randomly pick MCQ sections that are in the lecture review sections next to the videos? or do you generate tests of 10 questions using the Q Bank and just selected "all chapters and topics"? Also, how did you manage your notes if you took notes based on MCQ's that weren't organized by chapter?

  • @sugarcpaus2091

    @sugarcpaus2091

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your comments and questions. Let me try to answer your questions one by one. For the MCQ sections that are in the lecture review sections next to the videos, I believe you are referring to the classroom questions. I did all of those after watching lecture videos for each section. I never used the questions from the Q Bank until I finished watching all lecture videos. And for those, I randomly picked from all sections. For the notes, I used PowerPoint, so that I can insert notes and organize by section as I did MCQ's randomly. I hope this makes sense, but please let me know again if you have any further questions.

  • @sugarcpaus2091

    @sugarcpaus2091

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your comment and question. Yes, TBS are difficult, and I think a lot of people struggle in the beginning, including myself. First, you have to understand the concepts, so before I started practicing TBS questions, I did at least 300 to 400 MCQ's. Even after that, I struggled, but I kept practicing, and I basically used all practice questions in my main review course and also did many of them in my supplement test bank. It takes a lot of practice, so even if you are struggling at the beginning, don't worry too much and keep practicing. And try the memorization techniques that I showed in my other video. Read the explanations on the questions you missed, take notes, read the notes and try to recall what the question was. I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have further questions. Thanks again!

    Thank you for your comment and question. I chose Roger simply because it was cheaper than other major courses, had a great bundle deal with Ultimate CPA Exam Guide, and it looked good. But in the end, I thought it was a good choice for me. I believe all the major courses you mentioned above are good. I have a feeling that Becker is probably the best, but I haven't used them, so it's just based on what I heard and read. Roger is very passionate and hilarious, so I never got bored watching his lectures which was important for me because I can lose attention very easily. I think their other materials aren't as good as Becker, and their BEC contents are very light. I think each has pros and cons, but Roger was good enough for me.

    Kesler's Ultimate CPA Exam Guide is a good mentor/tutor program. They teach you how to study which is the basis of my step-by-step method (I skipped some of it to pass quickly). They also have tutors who can answer 2 questions per week (and more if you pay). They bundle their service with other CPA review course, but I see that you already purchased a few review courses. I'm not sure if you can add that now, but it may be worth asking.

Ninja is good enough, but the look and feel is different from the actual test environment which bothered me a bit. Thank you for your question. Actually, that was going to be my next video, but I just started another business recently, and I have to focus on that for the time being, so it will take some time to get to it. 2 months is the time it took from passing the first section to the last section, which seems to be how everyone counts the time it took to pass the CPA exam. If I include the time I studied for the first section it would be about 4 months. FAR was my first section, and I didn't have the study method yet, so it took much longer than other sections. Yes, 4 months is still very short, but I didn't have a full-time job, so I was able to study 5 to 6 hours everyday, which is probably difficult for those who work full time.

For the missed questions, I would read the text and take notes, and I would write down the formulas, equations, journal entries, and t-accounts. I made a video on memorization technique which talks about how to take notes and that might help you. I only watched videos at the beginning, but because I miss so many questions, and I read the text on those, I end up reading the entire textbook (multiple times for difficult concepts). Thank you for your question. I believe you are referring to FAR, but when I studied for FAR, I didn't have this method at the beginning, so I did 5-10 MCQ's after watching and reading each chapter, up to chapter 7. Then, I realized that it was not a good approach for me, so from thereon, I watched all videos from chapter 8-25 before doing any more MCQ's. Roger has class questions in the very last chapter, so I did those after each chapter though. For all other sections, I watched all videos and did class questions (just MCQ's), then moved to MCQ's. I started TBS when I felt comfortable with MCQ's. So, step #3 and 4 overlap. I hope it makes sense, but please let me know again if you have further questions. So you watch the lecture at 1.5 speed, do MCQ’s, assess and then what? Do you now rewatch the video to see what notes to make?

    Once I got comfortable with MCQ's, then I started simulations. Roger has something called Cram Course which is a condensed version of the lecture videos, so I watched them as well. And from 5 days to 1 week before the exam, I did the mock exam. And the day before the exam, I did flagged and missed MCQ's. Hope it's clear, but let me know if you have further questions.

    It's Gleim. I believe their material is good if you use it as the main review course, but their supplemental test bank is no good, especially the simulations. Good luck the rest of the way!

    Thank you for your question. I used Roger as the main course and Gleim, Ninja, and Kesler as the supplement. Roger and Ninja were good. I believe all the major course like Becker, Gleim, etc. are good. But Gleim was not good as a supplemental test bank.

    Gleim is the one that wasn't very good as a supplement test bank. I believe they are good if you use it as the main review course, but if you just buy the test bank, their simulation test bank is very difficult to use. MCQ's are ok.

    It really depends on your background. If you already have met the educational requirement, then you can start by buying one of the review courses. If not, you need to start from enrolling in a college. Tell me more and I can let you know more.

    Thank you for your questions. No, it's not very hard, and sure anyone can become a CPA as long as you meet all the education requirements. Students have more time to study, but older people have more experience, so unless you work a lot of over time, you can definitely pass!

    The one I didn't like was Gleim (I used it though). I do believe it is a good program if you use it as the main review course, however, I wanted to practice TBS & Research Q's in random order, but their test bank doesn't allow users to do that (you have to go chapter by chapter). The MCQ test bank was good, but that wasn't my main reason to buy the supplement test bank.

    I haven't used becker, but I believe it is good based on what I read on reddit and other forums. But I have also read some negative comments about them too. I don't think any review courses are perfect, but if you use any of the major ones and put in enough hours and study the right way, you can pass :)

    Thank you. Just a few more thoughts on review courses. I think Becker is probably one of the best, and that's why it's expensive. Sometimes I wished I used Becker, because Roger was weak in some areas, for example, it doesn't have the authoritative literature in their software, so I had to use the external sources, and they don't have a lot of sim questions for the BEC section, so I had to buy a supplement test bank. On the other hand, Roger is probably the best instructor with his passion and humor, I never got bored watching his lectures. So, all the review courses have strengths and weaknesses, but I think all major ones are good.
