How to Pass the CPA Exam. How to study for REG. How I Passed REG in 3 weeks with 88. Tips & Tricks

In this video, I will talk about how I studied for REG (Regulations) and passed in 3 weeks with the score of 88. REG was the most difficult section of the CPA exam for me, and I’m sure there are many people feeling the same way. In this video, I share the tips and tricks of how to study for REG that helped me pass quickly with a high score.
I passed all 4 sections of CPA exam in just 2 months with the average score of 89, at the age of 49. And I wanted to share how I achieved it, so I can help people pass the exams too.
Below are the scores by section:
- FAR: 90 Jan 22, 2022
- BEC: 90 Feb 14, 2022
- AUD: 88 Mar 9, 2022
- REG: 88 Mar 30, 2022
(2 months & a week from the 1st section, 4 months including study time for the 1st section)
I plan on sharing more videos that can be helpful for CPA candidates, so please subscribe ;-)

    Thanks for your videos, it helped me a lot by saying your time allocated to each section. I tested for FAR the first time last weekend and I got completely lost on time, I missed 4 of the last simulations due to lack of time. Did you do anything specific to get better at the timing of resolutions?

    I think it just takes a lot of practices to get faster. I was very slow at the beginning, but gradually got faster. I also paid attention on the speed when I practiced, so that I could see the progress over time. And there are always a few very difficult questions which I couldn't figure out. On those, I took a guess and moved on, and if I was doing ok on time, I came back and tried to solve. FAR is a big section, so I also ran out of time, so I thought I failed, but somehow I passed. Hope this helps, but please let me know again if you have further questions.

    Hii just wanted to know, whether CPA exam can be passed without any work experience i.e by only studying the modules. Does your work ex helps to pass cpa in 4 months?. How much time is standard for the fresher without any work ex.

  • @sugarcpaus2091

    @sugarcpaus2091

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your question. Experience does help, but you can pass without it. A lot of people pass during college. Aside from work experience, there are two key factors, 1) whether you majored in Accounting in the university, and 2) how many hours can you study everyday. If 1) is yes, and 2) is >5 hours, you can pass in 4 months if you study the right way. Hope this helps, but let me know if you have further questions :)

    Hi! When you say “3 weeks study period” do you mean excluding time for videos/lectures watched as well or is the 3 weeks including taking time for lectures? Isn’t there too many video lectures to complete in a few days?

    Thank you for the video. its super helpful. my query is - do we have to learn the format of the forms like Form 1040 in individual taxation? Also in general, do we have to rote-learn the content or reading it multiple times would be a better way to go about the subject? I am just starting my Reg preparation and have only 20 days to finish.

  • @sugarcpaus2091

    @sugarcpaus2091

    Thank you for your comments and questions. In terms of the forms, it does help to learn it especially for the simulations. The way I studied is really doing as many questions, and studying the ones I missed by reading text and taking notes, and reading my own notes. By doing this, you would be reading the most important parts of the texts multiple times. I have a video about memorization technique which talks about this, so that may help.

    I studied everyday from very early, usually 3am, sometimes even earlier. I slept about 5 hours at night and took a 30-min nap during the day. I didn't have a full time job. I ate normal and drink a few glasses of beer, wine, and whisky every night. I drank a lot of coffee during the day (caffeine really doesn't affect my body though). My wife worked too, so we split the housekeeping, except a few days before the exam. I had a grown up son at home who was able to take care of himself. One last thing you didn't ask, but thought it was helpful was that I did a lot of exercise, like running, bike, and weight training to stay healthy. Exercise bike is really good because you can watch lecture video and exercise at the same time. Hope I answered all your questions, but let me know if you have more.

Thank you!

    I see. Thank you. To me, the most important thing about note-taking was to be able to write from my memory and search what I wrote next morning, so it's probably difficult with the paper textbook. If the ebook has functionality to change color and fonts, it may work. The other thing is when I miss a question, I do a word search in my PPT notes and see if I missed a similar point before, and highlight or add note there. I hope I'm making sense, but please let me know again if it's not clear.

    Thank you for your question. I think the first thing you might want to find out is what kind of position they will place you if you pass the CPA and joing the accounting firm. If you can start from good position with good salary, it maybe worth the effort, but if you have to start from the bottom with low pay, it may not be worth it. It's always nice to learn new things and earn the certificate though. I became a corporate/strategy consultant after passing the exam, not the auditor, but I'm still glad that I studied and passed.
