Here’s how my MEPS experience went Day 1: Hotel - I ate dinner buffet -I literally just chilled -The Hotel’s bed was too soft for my comfort. So, I couldn’t sleep that whole night. Day 2:ASVAB -Started to get ready at 4:00 am -Hotel provided breakfast at 4:45 am. It was literally a soggy tortilla with eggs. Also a small yogurt and a cup of fruit. - Bus came to transport us to MEPS at 6:00 - I arrive at MEPS at 6:30 -I got cussed by the Staff Sergeant because my bag was too big. - I had to take fingerprints and register to their system -I took my ASVAB at 7:30 with a lack of sleep - I won’t say my score since it may reveal my identity. I just got 60+ for AFQT, and line scores sufficient for my desired MOS. -After the test I had to wait at a lounge for 7 hours without lunch because my recruiter f-Ed up my schedule. Lunch at MEPS is only provided to those that completed the physical, meaning I was excluded. - I went back to the hotel around 5:30 -I ate a dinner buffet -I once again couldn’t sleep cuz that bed be too soft Day 3: Physical -Same as the morning before -I arrive at MEPS at 6:30 -Went to a lobby with other applicants -We filled out our medical forms and signed it, ensuring that we are responsible for any lies we made. -They then took a breathalyzer test and blood pressure test. You know that thing they wrap around your arm during a physical. -After that we took the real exams -Ear exam in a small chamber that had writings in German. I joked with other applicants about its potentially questionable purpose. If you know what I mean -We wore these uncomfortable headsets with L being blue and R being red. -I could literally hear my breathing overpowering the sound produced by the headers. This is because the masks (cuz corona) we had to wear made the sound my breath made amplify Eye exam -You don’t need to bring your glasses as they have machines that test automatically detects your prescribed prescription. -They check if you’re colorblind -Before the exam I went into a room with the Chief medical officer. He asked about my medical history and it’s honesty. I confirmed it’s honesty -Then a girl went into the same room. She told me that the Chief Medical doctor examines and touched her br-st. This isn’t allowed as a chaperone of the same gender as the applicant must be present with this type of encounter. -That was the last time I saw her, as I had to take my other exams. Hopefully that was sorted out Blood and Urinalysis. - long line for the blood test - I was talking with the other applicants. That’s when I found out that you have to pee in the same room with other men for the urinalysis -Anyway, I was getting my blood drawn. The nurse commented that my veins were really small, almost feminine. I had to reassure that it was because I donated blood a few months ago. -Then I went to a bathroom, right next to the blood test, with a window revealing us. A woman or any man waiting at the blood test line could see us potentially. - we got a cup and peed in it half way. The guy in charge of this yelled at us. He said don’t worry fellas, I’ve seen plenty of small bastards.... -We got the results right away for the blood and urinalysis Physical Exam: - I waited in the medical center’s lobby for my physical. - Then they called us, a group of 15 men. - They yelled at us to strip all the way, except for your boxers - I kinda fell while trying to take off my shoe -they took our height and weight. If we weighed too much, we get a body fat test - I passed under the max weight by 8 pounds. Others were ridiculed for their weight. One of the staff told a large man to stop eating McDonalds. They called him a weak person since his will doesn’t prevent his abnormal size. I don’t even thought they’re not even allow to say this anymore - We then got in formation for the physical, 3 rows and each consisting of 5 men -It was 55 degrees in the room since they didn’t want foul order to accumulate - The doctor in charge of the duck walk came 2 hours late - I overheard the staff saying that he was in trouble and being yelled by their boss. I apologize, I’m unsure what the title of the boss for the Chief Medical officer is. -This is pure speculation. I’m ASSUMING it relates with the previous incident I mentioned -During this time we stood in placed for two hours in a cold room. - we talked with the staff about their career. One staff said he was asked back in the 80s, “Do you suck d--k.” You know, cuz the military prohibited gay men from joining - The staff then asked us about the branch we’re applying for and MOS. -Most of them were navy so they praised the one applicant in the room that was navy - Us army applicants were called a herd of sheep. They also ridiculed the army branch as well. That one staff member that was army stood their like 👀. -Then they informed me of......the spreading of your buns. Plus, the finger sticking. I panicked and almost shat myself. -A new doctor came after two hours and supervised us doing maneuvers (swinging arms, duck walk, rotating wrist, lifting our leg and extending it to a lock etc.) -We then sat in chairs waiting for the doctors to perform the actual physical in a private room -I was the 6th in line. These doctors were old and walked really slow. After an hour and a half, I was checked -They checked my ear for any abnormalities -They checked my back by making me touch my toes -They made me flex my toes - I then lay on the bed and they checked my neck, armpits, legs, and arms for problems - Then came the private section - the female doctor called a male chaperone as required by policy - I shows my junk and she touched it, np -Then she told me to turn around, spread them cheeks and bend over.... -I did and luckily got no finger sticking! - I then left the room -I waited at the medical center’s lobby for my results -After ten minutes, I was informed that I passed MEPS - I had to run this through at the main lobby’s central desk where you normally check in/check out -After informing them I went to the NG Liason and handed them the paperwork -In my case, since I’m a minor, didn’t fill a contract that same day. - Instead I waited at the cafeteria and ate food (beef sandwich, an apple, and two cookies) -after two hours my recruiter picked me up and I went home. - I’m awaiting for my recruiter to contact me again. so I can decide the date in which I return to MEPS and make a contract. -Other than that, all went well *Edit* i forgot to post results. I was deemed eligible! I got an 88 on the ASVAB and passed the physical. My MOS will be a 68W. My ship date is set November 18!

All the paperwork that had the old recruiter's signature, had to have the new recruiter's signature. He had to drive to Detroit from Owosso and get the paperwork updated. I don't know what kind of trouble my old recruiter got into, they wouldn't tell me, but whatever it was, it had to be serious. I never saw him again. The bonus part was that I didn't have to ride the bus back to Owosso. My new Recruiter gave me a ride back in that luxurious Chrysler K car he was issued!

Always stick by your story. If you are unsure about something, talk to your recruiter and he will advise you on what to do. Best of luck for people going to MEPS. 1: Be a unicorn. You've never been to the doctor, never had a surgery, never been sick, no scars, no cuts. 2: If you were like me and needed all the help you could get with weight do no eat the night before. You will get fed midday after your medical eval. 3: Eat breakfast. You will need the brainpower to deal with the meps personnel. 4: Yes sir no sir with everybody you meet. 5: Do not be the first in line at the beginning. I was named private switch the whole day because the desk sgm told me to flip a light switch and I couldn't find it. 6: Don't pee before you get there. My urinalysis was tough because I did. You stand in the bathroom, 5 urinals side by side no coverings and 2 meps personnel watching you at all times. If you go before it'll take you longer. 7: Not really important to pass meps but make friends while you're there. They last a lifetime 8: Like he said in the video meps personnel are not your friends. They try at every chance they get to make you slip up and fail you. Be on alert and watch what you say. I can't really think of anything else. It will seem like a lot once you are there since it starts early in the morning but after you get through it you'll look back and laugh at the memory. @@emmazing1686 Everything is great! Honestly, 68W is one of the best MOS you could have picked. You're going to meet some of the wackiest, funniest, and just outright dumbest people once you get to AIT. Unfortunately due to covid and me having a weak immune system I was recycled three times through three different companies. I started in Foxtrot (best company ever), went to Bravo, then ended my time there in Echo. It's hard, you'll be tired most of the time and having to balance learning how to not kill your casualty with early morning PT and the drill sergeants there messing with you just for funsies. It's a great MOS though. I hope you have fun at MEPS, I went to the Louisville station and they put you in a nice hotel on the river, don't know if they're doing roomates still but I would enjoy the hotel to it's fullest while you can, but they have a guy posted at the end of the hallway (but they switch out around midnight and it takes them a while to get back up there don't ask how I know) You'll meet some people going to the same basic training site as you there as well, so try to make some connections, it'll make the time easier especially if you end up in the same battalion/bay. Make sure to do some good and learn well, the news isn't looking so hot in my "professional" opinion so you might need those skills you're going to learn soon.

Good advice. Just stay true guys and girls, it is what it is if there’s certain things that are in the past but aren’t on paper and will not come up in the future and also are not not part of you anymore then it didn’t happen. Get through the process. Stay true. Serve. Good luck

    >be me >go to MEPS at 0530 >tries to stay awake at MEPS >gets called to see with a physician >goes in physician office >the doctor gets pissed for not saying gm >starts insulting me by using big words >accidentally says "shithead" beneath my breathe >doctor hears >gets sent back home for a week >mfw Edit : In all seriousness though, I did mess up on the first time I went to MEPS. Simply because I've never gotten up 3 in the morning in my life to go to a place where everything is stricter than my Aunt's house when I was 3. It was an interesting experience honestly. A week later, I went back to complete the rest of the tests that I haven't completed. Everything went smoothly. I get qualified, I pick my MOS and got my ship date on July 2nd. Thanks for all the help you provided Matt.

Maybe I had a different experience than most but there were only about 2 mean people working at the MEPS, everyone else was friendly and very helpful. Just make sure you keep your story straight always. As my recruiter said, don’t become a hypochondriac and say well maybe I have this and that, you will fail instantly.

Fun fact: I requested my processing be put on hold _Mid MEPS interview_ so I could be sure of a discrepancy that came up. Upon returning, the one Marine asked firmly if I was gunna get "Kicked out " again. I opened my mouth to correct him, but my brain is larger than my ego, so all that came out was a firm "No sir". He nodded and went back to work, and I took the oath 9 hours later.

I’m going in like a Juggernaut. It’s taken me nearly 4 years to get to this point, because the amount of wavers and paper work I got. Everything they could require, from when I had braces to me getting a psych evaluation, I got cleared before MEPS.

Just got back from MEPS a few days ago. Ended up Joining the Army Guard as 11B. It's not that bad but just remember that the people who work there are trying to DQ you so don't trust them. You will be tired throughout the whole day. Just stick to whats on your paperwork and do exactly what you are told and you should be fine.

I went in Dec 1981. It was cake for someone who was 18 and athletic. All i can say is if you have any medical issues that will or might prevent you from being a Soldier don't waste your time. I was born with hearing loss in one ear and still passed and it got worse while being in the Army by being in the wrong place when an 8" howitzer went off. thank god it only blew my bad ear drum but i still was able to stay in until my time was up. Oh and never tell them if you smoked pot or used drugs. It will defiantly effect the security clearance you get if your job requires one. Most communication MOS's you need at the very least a Secret clearance.Bottom line you have to be healthy to be a Soldier anyways so if you are healthy and don't have any issues that will effect your time in the future don't bring up issues from your past that might get you shot down. Use your head.
