In today's video I show how to parge, and core pour the block walls. I give lots of tips on techniques for parging and doing clean work. I also show how to set anchor bolts. This is the last video in the series of the foundation we laid. These videos were done in order to help show you our foundation process. I hope I helped you learn something. Great work. Tip I learned over years when filling block with grout or concreteing the cores, cut a orange construction cone about 6 inches off the top and put bottom part of cone in core and use as a funnel for core filling. Less mess. Very efficient

You need to use a vibrator when grouting cinder blocks! Just dumping in the mix leaves a lot of air space.

How wide is the footing and deep. The block on top is going to be crawll space or fill with gravel, slab on top. What state and city is this build. Thanks
Is the parge a specific kind, you did not show the bag that the parge was comng out of??
Hello Mr. Wyatt, is using a 2 parts sand, 1 part portland mix ok for foundation repair/ parging? I see some people adding 1/2 part S motar, not sure why? What benefit would the added lime have?
@masonthemason6412

I use special made parge mix. It's called comproco. Has fiber in it it's easy and ready to mix
Don’t forget the foundation coating!
2 things first forget about parge there's this blue liquid rubber that goes on concrete gareteed no leaks 2nd no bars set let them drill holes in concrete to install anchor bolts is the best
is bitumen damp proofing be to applied below grade after the parging is cured?
@masonthemason6412
2 жыл бұрын
They usually put a tar like substance on top of our parge below grade. I don't do that. Someone else usually does that for us
For vertical rebar, you just drop it in the hole where your pins are or do you splice it somehow before filling?

What material do you use to large? Same as between blocks when laying courses, just with a bit more water? Also, does parge=skim coat?
@masonthemason6412

I use a premixed bag called comproco. Yes it’s a skim coat. You need to tar it as well for best waterproofing results

@masonthemason6412

Could have been used for storage. But the whole house part was already a crawl space for storage. And the floating concrete porch would have been a little more expensive
After being in construction for near 50 years, and 30 years as a mason. I'm curious, I didn't see any bon-beam courses, so is there no horizontal rebar??

Definitely invest in a hawk. Lot of reloading time wasted walking back and forth and waiting on a guy to load your trowel. Just a tip.
Seems like a hawk and trowel would be faster
get yourselves some hok boards. you should be able to plop enough mud on a 12 inch hok that each guy on the wall can get 6-8 good trowel fulls before needing to refill and then they wont need an extra person standing around just putting mud on everyone elses trowels.

Shit ... You guys rock, what a disappointment your not the norm of block layers. Just do this old man he favor, take care of your backs. You wear it down busting your hump and can end up like me with spinal stenosis which on the outside can be surgically treated but mine just so happens to be inside the spinal canal so the doc looks at me with a resistance to telling me, " there's no surgery or treatment and it always results in death." The fact is we all die but how we go makes a difference and guys, this shit is like a ice pick being thrust into you. I simply lifted three plates from my daughter's dishwasher and blame, it hit the spinal cord and I hit the floor. The real stupidity is I miss doing construction, ha, ha!

@@masonthemason6412 I'm ok with the going part, we all go sometime, it's a adventure but the boredom of not being able to work drives me nuts. Especially fair weather days. I did Crete up in S.D. for awhile, that place never shut down, we worked in the snow. Funny as hell the main batcher was a real suck up and we had pads out in a farm field to do. Oh yeah, no prob, we can get in and out. I swear old Jimmy at 82 was the hardest worker I ever worked with. The stupid batcher drives out a load, delivers and drives off the road and Jimmy's yelling. We managed to pull it out with our truck and the dumbass did it again. Such are the memories you look back on and laugh. Take care.

I am a 20 year stucco mason and this is exactly how NOT to plaster block walls lol.
This is lousy work. First, that's 100% not how to brown coat, scratch coat, first coat (or whatever else you want to call it) block walls, especially wet block. BTW, what's going over that first coat? Also, it looks like you've got loose rebar lying against the block cores and then jut dump concrete in the voids. The rebar should be somewhat centered in the void. Filling the cores about half way then putting the rebar in works well.
Mason the mason what water proofing compound whats the name homes
