How to Paint: Night Lords by Mezgike
In this video, you're going to learn how to paint an ominous, dark Night Lord, converted from the Blackstone Fortress Chaos Lord. You'll also learn the secrets of how I created the ice base, with poor space marine trapped inside. This video covers blending, freehand, OSL and glow, using resin to create ice, some caveman-style colour theory and much more!

What I like most about this is that there is no Airbrushing. It's nice to see a really professional model painted to a high quality without a £150+ pricetag on it to paint it to the best standard. Awesome stuff! Ave Dominus Nox!

Amen to this, it's so frustrating to see 90% of youtubers painting models with air brushes.

@@Dustbinlid1 Honestly.. the tools don't make the artist. Creativity, experience and a lot of practice does. There is nothing wrong with using airbrushing in my eyes. It's not like any beginner can buy an airbrush and end up with great looking models.

@@CamilleDeveveraux I think the point was more if you're a new or new-ish (or poor) painter it can be frustrating to crack open a tutorial and not have the tool you clearly need. I personally play kill team so airbrushing really isn't necessary because I'm not trying to paint 200 Tyranids, just 15. So tutorials like these where all the tools I need are readily available or cheap are always nice.

@@jakoballan2768 Thats true but the entry cost in these paints huge if you do want to follow his tutorials exactly, some of the models he must use like 20 different paint colours. The results are incredible.

Wow that icebase is amazing, it's all amazing but that marine in the ice is beyond awesome. Nice job. Subbed
Just discovered your page on Instagram, your video tutorials are great and I want to thank you for taking the time to explain all your steps and make a long video.
The work is simply incredible! I love Night Lords ad elaborated bases, great job!
I absolutely love the format of your videos. The chapters are great for reference and showing the paint per step is extremely helpful. I hope that continue to make these great and informative videos
Thanks, well done. Your description of what your doing and showing the stages in sequence as you do is a HUGE help to improving my skills. Alot of artist keep things in their pockets but you go the high road and share those tips with everyone. You are a master and a professional and I have mad respect.
So much inspiration! I’m looking forward to seeing more, and if anything... what it would look like (down the road) when all the different character pieces get pitted together. Even with them just side by side displayed in all their glory!
I’ve not picked up a paint brush in 3 decades, I’ve been considering citadel miniatures for sometime and in the coming weeks will be buying my first batch to paint. In the mean time I’ve been feasting in a variety of youtube videos, picking up hints and tips. This is what I loved about this video. I clicked on it, not realising it was 3 hours, but within 15 minutes you were well into the process. Loved it. Thanks for showing the wet palette method, I’d heard people mention it, but didn’t have a clue what it was. Can’t wait to get stuck in. ( going with the basic ultramarines pack, for easing into the process).
I really dig your laid-back, sarcastic narration (on top of your awesome skills, of course). Keep up your great work!
This is so awesome! Thank you for taking the time to share it with us
Speckle priming ftw. :)

Fantastic ice example! Thank you very much!!!
What an amazing video. I've got no words for this high quality video.
I swear, pound for pound this has got to be one of the best tutorials on KZread. I don't know if my favorite part is the dirty copper for the helmet wings, the armor base blue or the pigment-based glow effects. I know I'm entirely blown away by the freehand on the shoulderpad that's for dang sure. I for one would love to see your take on the Alpha Legion.

Cheers brooks! Always think outside the box. Nightlords have red wings but that doesn’t mean you can’t make the red more interesting, by for example, using a red copper. Try to interpret ‘the norm’ in your own unique way and your minis will stand out.
