    You certainly get very thin lines from that big hake brush of yours. Those random strokes in the beginning turned out very beautiful.

    Yes the lines work well when the brush is new but as it wears it gets more difficult to get narrow lines.

    how much paint do you use for a painting like this? It is amazing how it evolves.

  • @StevenCronin

    @StevenCronin

    4 жыл бұрын

    It's difficult to assess as the paint is dry on my palette, it's not like I've squeezed x amount from the tube and then it's gone. Generally speaking I don't think any painting I do uses much paint as the remaining paint stays on the palette for the next painting so nothing gets wasted. Thanks for watching and very best of luck.

    Excellent work Steve how do you stop you paper from buckling with bulldog clips only that won't work for me kindest regards mickT

  • @StevenCronin

    @StevenCronin

    4 жыл бұрын

    The easiest way to stop buckling is to wet your paper thoroughly all over before starting. Allow a few minutes for the paper to stretch and dry and then fix to the board using clips or whatever method of choice. The paper now shouldn't buckle when you start painting. Best of luck and happy painting!

    I know they're not the traditional water colour paints, but have you used the lyra water colours at all? I'm just wondering how someone with more experience would use them. I got a set from my family as a gift lovely colours with good pigment, but not sure how to use them effectively as I'm only a beginner. Really liked your painting, you made it all look very easy and uncomplicated, thank you for sharing. Cheers from Australia!

  • @StevenCronin

    @StevenCronin

    4 жыл бұрын

    No, unfortunately I've never used Lyra watercolours. In fact, I've only ever used the Cotman watercolours pretty much from when I first started so I can't compare. You could use them the same way I use mine if you follow the tutorials. It's more about the technique than the paints. Have a go and let me know how you get on. Best of luck.
