How to Paint a Death Korps of Krieg Infantryman for 40K.
Ойындар
In this in depth tutorial we show you how to paint your Death Korps of Krieg Infantryman for Warhammer 40,000 from Games Workshop. Everything you need to know is covered from the great coat, dark metallics and of course the muddy weathering effect which suits these battle hardened troops perfectly. All the techniques used in this tutorial can be used on a wide range of your favourite miniatures including Great War historicals and even, if you want, your favourite Chaos Cultists!

As someone who has a very similar scheme on the forgeworld models, this looks fantastic. I can't wait to get my hands on these new minis. The resin Death Korps had great detail but the new ones just add to the already great design.

It's not better, or worse, just different. The GW video was for a battle ready model, so you can get playing real quick and have a decent looking model. This is a guide on how to paint to a more display quality. At the end of the day it's all art, and art is (Say it with me) subjective. Both tutorials achieved the end they were hoping for. Unless this was just an excuse to GW bash in which case you won't read anything I say and just be upset with me for whatever. Source: I'm literally a full time commission painter

I've felt something really off about these newer plastic sculpts after watching this video and the older 143rd regiment video, the one you did with the older FW DKOK years ago, side-by-side. It just seems... "softer" somehow, like the sculpt as no edges to it. I hate not being able to describe it better than that. Anyway, great guide! I definitely like the different choice of leathers in this one
@joshuadarrow

You’re not wrong, aside from the proportions being a bit more stylized (like with the current Cadian kit), the old resin kit did have more angular edges, particularly with the gas mask.
@QuestsofLegend

Not sure how the old ones were designed, but I find most newer 3D sculpted and subsequently 3D printed have a softer edge.
@denvermiller5091

Some of that I think is just the different capabilities between resin and plastic. Crisp edges don't seem to be as doable in hard plastics.
Glad I found this. I'd been watching your videos on the games-workshop channel for years but stopped because they never went far enough as I'd like. These changed that!

Thank you a lot for all those videos that made me go back into the hobby after 15 years. I am making quite a lot of progress thanks to your tips, but i'm disapointed when applying the washes (agrax earthshade most of the time). It brings a lot of definition but also leaves a kinda shinny/wet appearance on the shaded areas. I don't feel like a putting to much, and on your videos your minies tend to have a much more mat finish. Any idea what i'm doind wrong?
@lyserg1k
2 жыл бұрын
Two things that will likely help, give the agrax shade a really good mix. Like 2 mins of shaking then shake some more. After that a clear matt coat is a great step to de shine and protect.

Citadel is good as it's pretty reliable and readily available. Vallejo is also great but dries a little differently to Citadel. And then of course there are TTC Paints (our own brand Two Thin Coats Paints) which is coming out soon into retail shops around the world. (Sorry, cheeky plug). In all seriousness though, Citadel and Vallejo are both pretty good with each having their own pros and cons so you can't go wrong with either.

The black metal technique used for the helmets and shoulder pads here, would that be able to translate to larger vehicle panels, given the contrast paint? I fancy trying an IG army with that black metalic armour but I'm not sure it would translate to vehicles very well.
